Tap. Tap. Tap. A young, teenage man dressed in a black windbreaker cloak leisurely strolled on an empty street as the setting sun's sunlight cast his shadow onto the nearby old buildings. Both of his hands were in the pockets of his sleek, black pants that wrapped around his toned legs, and he confidently walked forward on the desolate street. A sudden cold breeze blew against his brown, curly hair, causing the young man to glance in a direction while muttering softly, "Hmm? Is it over there?"
Following his inborn instincts, the young man calmly strolled towards his destination. Not long later, he arrived near an old building with multiple chunks of debris laying around. It seemed that something had rammed into the building multiple times, yet the building was surprisingly still able to stand tall.
Vrrrrrroom! The engine of a car roared as the sound of a speeding car resounded from nearby. Glancing over, the young man saw a car speeding towards the old building, and he just so happened to be in the path in between the two!
However, the young man didn't panic. With a laid back attitude, the young man spoke a couple of commands, "Blessing. Strength ... Blessing. Defense."
A soft, golden glow appeared to cover the young man's arms followed by a glow wrapping the body of the young man. Afterwards, the man's eyes also began to glow as he silently activated yin yang eyes.
Staring at the black mist defusing off the car, the young man muttered, "Curse huh?"
As the car rapidly approached, the young man confidently stood in place with a smile. He even had the time to raise his hand to fix his curly brown hair a bit. Then, bringing down his hand, he aimed it at the car that had approached within his combat range, "Dispel."
An invisible wave launched forward from his hand and smashed into the black mist on the car, knocking the black mist away as a screech resounded from the distant. Even though the curse was gone, the car was still speeding over at the young man!
Seeing that there was a lady with heavy make-up inside the car, the young man couldn't help but mutter, "Ahh~ Why must there be a witness ... troublesome. I guess the department will get a new hire then ... I'm not the one paying anyways."
VROOOM! A lady's scream resounded from inside the car as the car swiftly smashed towards the young man. The young man smiled as he muttered, "Sit tight~"
The young man focused and time seemed to have slowed down in his vision. He cheekily smiled as he slammed both his hands downwards at the car in front of him.
BAM! With a loud sound, the front of the car along with its engine was smashed inwards, and the car tilted upwards vertically as the front windshield shattered, causing pieces of glass to rain down at the young man, but none of them managed to cut through the golden glow on the young man's body. The lady's scream ceased in shock as she stared with wide opened eyes at the young man below her.
As the car's vertical balance shifted, it began to tilt over. Before it could flip over completely, the young man hopped into the air and gave a light sweeping kick to the hood of the car. BAM!
A small dent formed from the kick as the car tipped back over and crashed back down onto the ground. The lady's squeal of fright sounded from the car for a moment before it quickly returned to silence. Peeking around and noticing that she was alive and well except for a couple of scratches from broken glass, the lady sat in a daze as she breathed a sigh of relief, "Holy sh*t. I'm alive."
She then swiftly took off her seat belt and got out of the car. Glancing at the smashed in front of her car with smoke coming out of it, the lady in a red dress cried in grief, "Ahhh! My car!"
With mixed feelings inside, she glanced at the young man standing calmly nearby as she whispered with a blush, "Y-you ... you, who are you? No, wait, what are you? Are you even human?!"
"Ahh~ troublesome," the young man muttered, causing the lady to step back in fright, "Well ... you will learn about me sooner or later. To make it short, name's John Seana. Not C-e-n-a, it's S-e-a-n-a. As for what I am? I'm an exorcist, a Holy Soldier to be precise. And yes, I am human."
"Huh? Exorcist? Holy Soldier? What's that? And are you sure you are human? You literally just smashed the living daylight out of my car!" the lady exclaimed in shock.
"Ahh~ it's too troublesome to explain everything to you, you will learn everything once you join us. Instead of that, isn't it good manners to introduce yourself?" John replied in a lazy tone as he glanced into the distance with his glowing eyes.
"Oh!" the lady blushed in embarrassment a bit as she introduced herself with a charming smile out of habit, "My name is Elaine Hancock."
As if the smile had no effect, John still glanced into the distance as he calmly asked, "So Elaine, what might you be doing all the way out here?"
"Umm ... I-I came here to do ... b-business," Elaine's face flushed as she tried to answer in a fluster before trying to change the topic, "Uhh ... what do you mean by having to join you."
Seeing her eyes flickering around as if she didn't want to answer honestly, John was too lazy to interrogate her as there will be someone doing that part later. So, he just replied, "Well, as you have experienced a paranormal event and saw a formal employee performing a task up close, in addition to signing a confidentiality agreement, you will be required to join our organization. This is required to protect you by keeping you under surveillance. Of course, it's also to prevent you from leaking the identity of formal employee."
"Huh? Your organization? I'm required to join? What if I don't want to?" Elaine asked with a hint of frustration.
"Oh ... don't want to join eh? What will happen you ask ... well, what do you think happens to people who have seen and know too much?" John replied with a chuckle.
Elaine's face paled in fear as she realized her situation, "I-I'm only a victim! Now I'm forced to join some e-evil organization out of my free will?!"
"Uh, correction. Our organization is not evil. It's a special investigation department endorsed by the government," John explained as he began to stroll off while the glowing blessing gradually faded away from his body.
"Phew~" Elaine breathed as sigh of relief.
Seeing John walk off, Elaine hurriedly grabbed her gun dropped in the car and trotted behind him as she questioned with a worried tone, "So, what does this government department do?"
"Eh ... it's too troublesome to explain to you. Someone will do that once you join. For now, let's go handle the troublesome spirit that is causing this mess," John replied as he arrived near a familiar, old apartment building.
"Spirit?" Elaine muttered before her face paled in fright, "C-Could it be that dirty thing that got in my car?! It's still not dead yet?!"
Elaine's eyes flicked around in vigilance and fright as she stuck closer to John. John glanced at Elaine who was hugging his arm and he twitched his mouth, "Can you let go. Or do you want to wait until the spirit escapes before you do?"
"Oh! Sorry!" Elaine replied as she flushed in embarrassment while her internal thoughts ran rampant, "Elaine! Why are you acting like a little girl that needs to rely on a man! Snap out of it! This isn't like you! It's almost like you are a girl who has fell in lo- no! It's impossible ..."
"Hmmm ... it must be out around here somewhere ... why must this be so troublesome," John muttered as he walked around the building while tracing the thin black mist trail left in the air.
It wasn't long before John found his target. Elaine saw an old, rusted steering wheel was found laying against the wall on one side of the apartment building. On the other hand, John was able to see black mist defusing out of the steering wheel, and as John came closer, even more black mist came out of the wheel to form a young man's face.
"Stayyyy! Stayyyy here foreverrr!" the face howled.
Although Elaine was not able to see the black mist, she still heard the scary howl and she opened her eyes wide in fright as she aimed her handgun at her surroundings vigilantly, "W-Where is it?"
Staring at the gun, John twitched his mouth as he replied, "Just so you know, guns don't really work against spirits."
"Ah?! T-then, how do we kill it?" Elaine exclaimed in shock.
Skipping the words and directly into action, John took our a handheld bell and rung it. An invisible shock defused from the bell and smashed into the steering wheel, causing cracks to appear all over it.
SCREEEE! The spirit howled in pain as black mist exploded out from the wheel to completely form a human body. A brown hair man with a bloody shirt and a steering wheel inserted on his chest appeared in front of John and Elaine. Elaine stepped back in fear and aimed the gun at the spirit.
BANG! BANG! BANG! She rapidly fired her shots until her bullets ran out. Then, her face paled in despair to see that the wounds on the spirit gradually recovered!
On the other hand, John stared at the spirit with his glowing eyes, "A top-level baleful spirit? A bit troublesome."
John stepped back as he pulled out a talisman and activated it, "Holy barrier."
A glowing barrier of light appeared around the evil spirit and trapped it inside. The evil spirit smashed repeatedly against the barrier as it growled in an agonizing voice, "STAYYY! Why won't you just stay?!"
After a couple of slams, the barrier began to have cracks on it. John aimed his hand at the spirit and commanded, "Holy Smite!"
A golden glow shot out of John's hand and pierced the evil spirit, causing it to howl in pain and causing some of the black mist surrounding it to dissipate.
"Ah, it seems a level one mystic spell is still not strong enough to take out a top-level baleful spirit completely," John muttered with a calm tone as he glanced at the cracking barrier, "It seems that I will have to waste another level 2 talisman. I will need to apply to the department to purchase another one again, so troublesome."
"Eyes closed my lady," John commanded while lifting another talisman and activating it, "Holy light!"
A glaring light burst out of the talisman and covered the surrounding area. Elaine closed her eyes and even covered her eyes with her hands as the light was too bright. On the other hand, John's glowing eyes clearly watched as the blinding light shred the evil spirit into pieces while burning away the black mist around it. Without waiting for it to finish, John commanded, "Blessing. Strength ... Blessing. Speed."
Then, like a gust of wind, John crossed the holy barrier, dashed around the evil spirit, and up to the steering wheel. The evil spirit felt a sense of danger and tried to dash back to protect its possession object, but it was too late as it could only watch John smash the wheel in pieces with his punches.
SCREEE! The evil spirit howled in even more pain as its source was destroyed. As there was no longer black mist defusing from its possession object to help it recover, the remnant of the holy light cut off a couple of its body part before it finally subsided. The evil spirit was now a man kneeling on the ground with one missing arm and leg. The steering wheel on its chest also had cracks throughout, as if it would shatter in the next hit.
Without giving the evil spirit any more chance, John aimed his hand at it and commanded, "Holy Smite."
Puff! Screee!
Seeing that it was not dead, John continued, "Holy Smite!"
Puff! Scree!
"Holy Smite!"
Puff! Scree ...
"Holy Smite!"
With one last chant, the light smashed into the injured evil spirit, causing it to freeze in place before shattering into a puff of black mist that slowly evaporated. John breathed a sigh of relief as a drop of sweat rolled down his face, "Phew, that was more troublesome then expected. I almost consumed all my holy energy ... the department better pay me extra for this mission."
John then went up to collect the broken pieces of the steering wheel and stashed it in his jacket. Glancing back at Elaine who still had her eyes covered, he twitched his lips as he said, "It's over. You can look now."
"A-Ah?" Elaine put down her hands in embarrassment as she opened her eyes to glance at the empty area where the evil spirit previously appeared.
Breathing a sigh of relief, she couldn't help but say, "What kind of dumbf*ckery is this? Light can kill evil spirits? What is this world turning into?"
"The world's always been like this, you just never knew. Let's go," John muttered as he strolled off with hands in his pockets.
"A-Ah? Where are we going?" Elaine asked as she trotted after him.
"Back to the department," John replied lazily.
"Huh? Are we going to walk all the way back?" Elaine asked with a frown as she stared at her high heels.
"My car is parked outside this area. It was stipulated that we shouldn't drive into a mission area as we may be influenced mentally which can lead to car accidents," John replied as he as he paused in place while staring up at the old apartment building nearby with a small frown.
His instincts told him there was something wrong with this building, and there was a strong sense of danger as well.
"Troublesome ... I'll just skip the investigation mission and let someone else take it," John muttered as he continued on his way.
