Another Danger

The water was icy cold when we fell into the pool. I was wondering how the girls were able to swim in that state. Gray fell on top of me so his weight prevented me from swimming up. Fortunately, Gray pulled me up with him so we both emerged out of the water at the same time. I couldn't see clearly since the water was dripping from my face. Suddenly, a cold hand ran down my face to keep the water away. That was Gray's. He then pulled strands of wet hair away from my face to let me see clearly. There, I saw Gray's handsome face glittering with water droplets, smiling at me with worry.

"Hey, I am truly sorry. Are… are you… okay?" he asked. Thankfully, the pool was not that deep enough so I was safe from drowning.

"Yeaaaah..." I responded while shaking because of the cold water.

Then, I realized that people were looking at us, their attention purely directed at us that made me feel embarrassed and conscious. My bra was now seen through my cropped top. I, then, dipped my body below the water.

Maybe Gray sensed that I was too embarrassed so he hugged me in his cold arms. I was curious how he felt so warm, with his hard muscles poking through his now very wet shirt. He led me to the pool ladder.

I was surprised to find Gregory waiting at the top with a towel in his hand. Worry was evident on his handsome face. Wondering, how did he get here that fast? Setting my pride aside, I reached for the towel from him. Instead, he wrapped it around me himself seeing I was terribly shaking. To my utter surprise, he then carried me in his arms, leaving people surprised as well. I was not able to react or protest or decline since it all happened so fast. People then paved the way for us as we passed by carrying me to the main building, which I guess was the house itself.

The receiving area of the house was large and wide and full of people who were partying that time. Everybody fell silent when we arrived. Gregory carried me to a private room and sat me on the bed.

In a few seconds, Jason arrived with no less of an amusement plastered on his face. He was not really worried about me drowning in the pool since he knew that I was very capable of saving myself with all those years of living on the island, swimming throughout my life.

Jason came to my side sneering. "What a scene you caused there, Artemis."

"Shut up, Jason," I responded with so much irritation.

"Your sister almost drowned and you're not worried at all," Gregory almost reprimanding him.

"Oh! I knew my sister better than anyone else and that pool that shallow won't kill her. Throw her in the middle of the ocean and she will still survive," Jason said shrugging.

Gray came in after, dripping wet with my dead phone on his hand. "Hey, guys? What are you doing here? Do you know each other? Hey, I got your phone," he said waving my phone.

Gregory looked at him, very disappointed. Jason got him a towel folded on a table and tossed at him. "She's my sister, Gray," Jason revealed.

Immediately, instant deep regret formed on his face. "I'm terribly sorry, Jaze. I didn't know. I didn't even know you have one. I'm sorry for putting her in danger."

"Well, Jaze, meet my sister, Artemis. Artemis, meet Gray Jansen, Gregory's cousin. And don't worry. I mean, look at the both of you… you're alive and kicking," Jason introduced while the breaking news that Gray was actually Gregory's cousin caught me real off-guard.

"Cousin?" I asked, looking alternately at Gray and Gregory. Yeah, they got similar features. Apparently, they both got jet black hair and an absolutely handsome face.

No one answered me. Gregory was still processing the way my brother treats me and Gray was still in shock knowing that I was Jason's sister. Jason , a not-so-really-caring brother, was probably excited to go back to the party.

"Wait, Artemis? Why are you here at this party? It seems that no one invited you here," Jason asked, probably annoyed that he had to look after me.

"Alina did," I answered as-a-matter-of-fact.

"Really? She did?" Gregory asked curiously, trying to unmask the mystery behind the invitation.

"Well, Alina's friends are also my friends, Jaze," Gray assured. "But I saw you with two other pretty girls."

"Of course, Anna and Charlie. You won't be here unless they didn't drag you here," Jason answered getting impatient.

"Well, they seem like fun. I should be thanking them. At least, I've got to meet your sister," Gray happily remarked. "Don't worry guys, I'll take care Artemis and we'll be back in a jiffy."

"Oh - okay! You better get back to your own party, Gray! Come on, Greg. Artemis is a big girl, she can take care of herself," Jason said as he just let Gray took the matters to his hand and dragged Gregory with him and walked to the door.

Before they left, Jason turned to us and pointed at Gray. "By the way, Gray, my sister is off-limits."
