Chapter 19 : The Torch-shaped Obelisk 1

The two kids left their temporary shelter after spending around a week inside the mega mall.

They had decided to explore into deeper parts of this buried ancient ruin

Rani's master, Gita, had been here and explored this underground city about four to five years ago.

This journey was especially and exceptionally exhilarating for Rani because one of many dreams She had had for a long time was to follow her master's steps and saw for herself the wonders left by the Ancient Human.

She was told that many artifacts were still pristine and hidden inside the deepest chamber of the ruin.

After having done the third overall check for their equipment and their physique's condition. They headed over towards the direction of the furthest place from the entrance.

They had walked for more than three hours. The cave or tunnel from where They had entered a week ago couldn't be seen anymore.

The kids was approaching what had seemed to be the former city center.

The place was of course, crumbled and ruined, but traces of magnificent past were apparent and pretty much obvious amongst countless rubbles.

It was a square plaza, which occupied an area of about one square kilometre.

The kids could find many mega structures sprawled about, just like in any other corners in this ruined mega city. The wreakages of caved in buildings and collapsed skyscrapers were circling around this main square plaza as its center.

Despite that however, what had mostly caught These two attention was actually,

a busted, giant obelisk, which had been broken into two halves. It had the colour of dark grey, but They believed that somewhere in the distant past, The initial coulour should be bright white, ashes and dust had almost succesfully blurred the obelisk original colour.

on the obelisk's broken upper half, right on what it seemed its top, there was a huge ornament which might have resembled a burning fire. It had the colour of gold, and eventhough just like the obelisk's body part that was mostly already covered by ashes and dust, The golden colour of the fire ornament was still shiny enough for it to be able to reflect the torch's light that Mada currently held in his left hand.

The reflection of the torch's light shined bright enough for them to realize that the coloring material used for this man-made golden fire was real gold. It was the first time They saw the color of the legendary bright sun that was last seen more than five hundreds years ago.

Rani had been taught by her late master that in the era of Ancient Human, the things that were deemed as the most precious-tradeable commodity, were not artifacts, weapons or foods,

instead, the highest currency widely used in international transaction at that time which required a fantastical value was done by either using the mythical, indestructable-hardest material known as diamond or, using the shiny material seen by the kids right now, the same subtance used as colouring material for the golden fire ornament.

Pure gold, The kids were mesmerized by the glowing surface that gave back the torch light into their eyes.

"Emmm Rani ? this...." Mada touched the huge golden fire ornament like He didn't really know what to do with it. This was also his first experience seeing such beautiful thing, compared to Rani's nature, this thing was equally glamourous and elegant.

On the other hand, Rani, who was a girl, just like any other females, She loved to see things that were beautiful, cute or pretty. Now, She was completely bewitched.

Mada called Rani out once more "Rani ?!"

"....."

"ehem ! excuse me young Lady Maha ! have You gone deaf ?!"

Rani responded to Mada taunt at last

"??!!! What ? did You just curse on me ?!"

"I did not My Lady ! I was just concerned if that might be the case. You have sustained lethal injuries, and I'm afraid it has damaged Your auditory too."

Rani glared to the sarcastic Mada. She knew that Mada was just fooling around, but being prayed ? cursed to be deaf, it had gotten on her nerves.

Rani moved her right index finger, it was gesturing the teasing to come closer to her. While having a scary expression Rani called Mada out.

"You sonava b*tch,... come...here..."

her low but clear voice surely and and calmly coarced Mada to do her bidding. Nothing should hinder Mada to bow to her will.

Rani half screamed when Mada just stood still on his place.

"Mada ! COME HERE NOW !"

plakkkkkk !!!!

The sound of Rani's hit echoed up to the edges of this underground space. She had slapped Mada in back of his head.

Mada teared up for th unfairness He had to accept from Rani. He thought....

'This is f*cking unfair, Mother said I shall never smack women under no circumintances, but They can freely hit me ? what if They wanted to kill me ? am I supposed to stand still and do nothing ? huh , at this rate, I will become Rani's servant, not her bodyguard.'

Mada had a depressed and sorrowful expression hanging on his face.

----------------

"There..... look at that..."

Mada's finger pointed towards the base of the obelisk. They had been enchanted by the 134 meters obelisk for so long and failed to notice that there was a door, or gate, on one side of the obelisk's base.

The bottom part of the obelisk was an upside-down pyramidal-trapezoid structure that acted as a foundation for the long, big and white main rectangular body part.

As Mada had indicated, There must be a room or a space inside that upside down pyramid.

Mada made a suggestion

"Shall We check it ?"

"Yeah, taking a peek shouldn't hurt, just stay on guard, since We don't really know what to expect coming to us."

The two went to the obelisk's base. The entry gate had a height equivalent to an adult and a width that could be passed by two people at once.

The design was simple and plain. It was made of thick and solid steel and could be slid open by pushing them to each of the opposite directions.

Or it should be the case. When The kids tried to move the door leafs, They wouldn't even budge. It was insanely heavy and too hard to push, or rather, too impossible to be oppened by human strength.

When Mada threw his strongest attack to break through the metal gate by force, it just stood there, no changes occured whatsoever.

"huuuhhhhhhh.... haaahhh...hahhhh..... I expected as much that this was a tough door, yet..... even the main gates of the Terraria City state wasn't at this level."

Rani : "It sure tough indeed, as expected of the Ancient Human's structure. There are many that already collapsed, but once They put their effort into a construction project. They can erect a marvel structure such as this one, that even nature and time will find it hard to crush.

Anyway there has to be something valuable in here. I don't know if my master had opened this door but We won't have any loss other than time for trying to look inside, right ?"

Mada : "You are right. but I can't see any possible way to open this....."

Rani : "This one shouldn't be the only entrance, there may be others hidden, The real entry. I will go around from left side You go around from right side, We meet at the center of the other side from here. let's keep an eye for anything that looks strange."

The two seperated to scan anything that might lead them to enter the obelisk base.

And it brought no result, They decided to try doing it the second time, just to be sure that nothing missed their eyes. It was futile, They found nothing but rubble and crumbling concrete.

Mada had stood again in where He had been standing just minutes ago, He conveyed his thought to the closing Rani.

"I think this gate is the only true entrance."

"I thought so."

"are We gonna leave this alone ?"

"of course not...,hmmmmm, if this is indeed the only route to get inside... the only thing that comes to my mind is.... there has to be-"

Mada abrubtly interrupted Rani's train of thought

"A hidden mechanism to open this damned door, I-know-it !!! , here it was all along.....

I suggest You look down on Your feet, cuz this might just happen to be the first clue We found so far."
