...THAT'S MY LEGACY

--Sunday, 8:05 am—

Wu woke up. She brushed her teeth. She had a bath. She had cornflakes with sandwiches and hot chocolate for breakfast at the cafeteria. She went back to her dorm and listened to her audiobooks and watched new movies…along with school work. DAY ENDED.

--Next Sunday, 8:15 am—

She got up. Brushed her teeth. Had a bath. But this time, she ate breakfast in bed. She just had marmalade and toast with tea. She was watching the latest episode of Rick and Morty. Her roommates were doing their own thing, she thought. Talking to other boys and laughing about weird stuff, but they were actually talking about a video that went viral…which was about their lecturer's neighborhood. It was under attack by so many different insects…harming half of the neighborhood. But she was bored. She started reading a Star Wars Comic book. DAY ENDED.

--The following Sunday, 8:22 am—

Got up again. She went to use the toilet first. She couldn't actually remember what she ate last night. She was feeling a little bit sick. She sneezed a bit. She didn't brush, but she had a hot shower since she was feeling cold. She had just a hot milkshake with biscuits for breakfast...on the bed. She lay down the whole day to get more rest…and took some pills she brought from home so her body could recover from her sickness. At 2:07 pm…she went to walk around the school to get some fresh air…maybe her room was just untidy, so that's why she got the cold, she thought. When she got back, she cleaned the room by herself so everything would be looking squeaky clean. The other girls were just impressed that she did it all by herself when they came back from wherever they were…and messed the place up in less than 5 hours. She remembered she's got some assignments to finish, so she stayed up late at night to do that…making sure she doesn't disturb her roommates. DAY ENDED.

--And Now This Sunday, 8:39 am—

She was feeling better now. So, she got up and… I'm pretty sure you've figured out the pattern here. Then, after all that, she laid down…reminiscing about past events she's had. She remembered she was a little girl…and dad used to throw her up in the air and catch her…and he always told her that she could fly…so high that the sta…

"Hey, Wu." Her daydreaming was interrupted. And she wasn't surprised who did. It was Tobias. Her roommates left the door open again. He was standing at the doorway. Then he came inside, and realized that she was the only one in the room.

"Hello…state your purpose." She said sarcastically, laying down.

"I'm looking for someone named Wu. You know...huge head...…wears glasses and…lays down all day." Tobias also teased.

"She is currently unavailable."

"Well, could you make her available?"

"Nope."

Tobias chuckled. "I just came to check up on you. To see how you were doing."

"Oh wow, thanks Doc."

"Well, you haven't been eaten your apples, so…I would always be here for you."

She frowned as she looked at him… then they both chuckled.

"So, anything you have planning to do?" He said.

"…Nah, not really. You?"

"There is a church not really far from the school…I'm heading there today…at around 9:00 am.

"Cool."

They were both quiet for a little while until Tobias got curious.

"Well, uhm…you could always come with me if…you don't have anything doing much."

"…I will sit this one out, thanks."

"Oh uhm…okay" He nodded. Then he was just about to leave the room, then he stopped and wanted to ask Wu something.

"Wait…when was the last time you got outside of school?"

Wu was thinking... "Three days ago."

"Where did you go to?"

"Walmart"

Tobias looked at her sarcastically. "So, you haven't been outside school."

"But I said Walmart…."

"Is in the school…not outside of it."

"Oh…I see…"

Tobias chuckled again. "Alright, c'mon let's go out for a bit."

"Where?" "Church" "Nope." He sighed. "We would be back soon…when was the last time you even got to go to church."

Wu was quiet…but not the sarcastic kind of quiet…It was like when he asked that question…she just went down to memory lane.

"Wu?" She was still quiet. "Wu? You okay?" Still quiet. "Sorry I…I was asking the last time you…."

"When our grandmother died."

Tobias also became quiet. Then he sighed. "That is a long time ago."

"Yep."

Then Tobias took a deep breath. "Okay, sure…I'll see you soon then…." He was about to leave…but then he wanted also to tell Wu something…

"Uhm…maybe you wouldn't seem to care about it, but…I'm going to be a born-again Christian."

Then Wu just sat up with a bit of confusion. "I know about that."

"You do?" She nodded. "So, you're a born-again too?". Tobias asked.

"I…... I don't even know…...my mum and dad were all so busy I didn't even think about it…I learned a little bit of the Bible from my sister…and my sister would also take me to a Buddhist…...but I don't know." She shrugged.

Tobias just nodded… he didn't even know what to say.

"But... you look like you are already." Wu asked. "Because our uncle would…."

Then Tobias leaned against the door frame, was gathering his thoughts, and then finally he said something.

"No, he wouldn't have…because it's a choice. It's my choice."

Wu was trying to figure out what he meant.

"Listen, we've…If there is one thing that amazes me every day… It's that we still can't understand who we are. There are still scientists or neuro…biologists or whatever…still researching about our brains and stuff…still people just going about their lives thinking that they want this or want that…without actually thinking about what they really want. It's like we are all just confused. Then these corrupted people or whatever came and…are just starting to make things worse…and a lot of people start dying and…." He sighed. "I think they're dying because they don't make the right choices…...and I always think that I'm getting lost into this, you know…...' cus there are people who can imagine what they want…..., and then they get it…what about the others?... What do they do?…... If I had that power…like you know what I would imagine?"

Wu really felt doleful hearing Tobias like this. She knew what he would have imagined. He was really fed up with it.

"I'm not going to be the next person making stupid choices anymore…...and be feeling like I'm in this world just to be living…...and I feel like becoming a born-again Christian…...is like a fresh start... like becoming a part of something…."

Wu nodded, respecting him for his choice.

"I'm gonna make this right for the family. I'm gonna live the legacy my dad…my uncle…my aunt, my mom…everyone would have wanted…that's my legacy."

"Nice speech Mr. President."

Tobias chuckled. "I'm gonna go…... it's almost time…...see you later then…."

"Sure."

Wu just laid back on her bed again…but this time, she was thinking about what he said…and how her life has been so far…in her room…watching videos and more videos…thinking of her dream goals and…

|| Do you know how you would…know if you've made a good choice? You don't… and that's what makes us the most complex beings ever ||

She remembered her sister's words…and was just amazed about what she meant…
