Oakwood Village

While in the carriage, the head of the team introduced their village. It was called Oakwood Village. The area is rich in oak-wood trees, and because the village is situated in an above location, its humidity and soil are perfect for nurturing oak trees hence, it was decided to be called Oak-wood Village. Within a few minutes of the ride, they arrived at the northern part of the Village where a two-story wooden building with a signboard that says 'Hospital'.

The other doctors just nod with a smile after seeing that it was far better than what they anticipated it to be. With ease, they also help the local staff on unloading the luggage and apparatus, while the female doctors already went inside along with the Head Director of the Hospital. After settling down and arranging everything, a celebratory feast was hosted for them, serving them with the local's special - Oak-wood smoked Pie.

"It is a joyous occasion for us, to be graced by your presence. As you know, we are only a small-facilitated hospital, and that is why we are very thankful for being one of the Villages to be part of your Medical Mission." the Head Director raised his glass of apple juice in the doctors' direction and downed it all in one drink.

"There is no need for gracious words, Director." Lord Zachary looked in the doctor's direction before continuing. "It is the oath that we took the moment we join the Medical Profession. To save lives regardless of their social status. To put our patients first before ourselves." after finishing his speech, Lord Zachary toasted with the director before drinking his own drink.

The doctors all applauded with drinking their drinks, and because they have to head out early tomorrow, the locals just only serve Apple and Grapefruit juice. The dinner lasted until 9 in the evening before Lord Zachary decided to call it a day and went to his own quarters. Since the hospital has only a limited number of dorms, only Lord Zachary, the Head Director, and Doctor Helene got single rooms while the rest were divided accordingly.

Catherine didn't mind sharing a room with the others. On the contrary, She was happy to do so. It was her first time experiencing sharing a room with a co-worker. She happily took a quick bath and said good night to her fellow roommates before entering dreamland.

It was already 5:30 in the morning when Catherine woke up. Some of her roommates already wear the uniform while the others have just woken up. In a jovial mood, she took a bath and fixed herself in just a few minutes. She went down to the dining area after saying morning greetings. They had a light breakfast before everyone went to the center of the Village. Since most of the patients are in the center part area, both the Head Director and Lord Zachary decided to put the tents in Garden Cove Park. It is a spacious area in the center of the village. They usually held their festivals and grand occasion there.

Garden Cove Park, Medical Tents - Cardiology Department

As everyone finally settled everything, from the medicines and all equipment to use, the Mission officially started. Catherine barely had a fill of her drink when the first patient went inside the tent. It was a mother and daughter pair.

"Hello doctor, can you help my daughter?" the mother worriedly asked Catherine while holding her hands.

"Sure, ma'am. This way, please. Sit here, Little girl."Catherine smiled as she guided both of them to a bed for patients. She crouches down to create an eye-level between the girl and her before asking in a gentle manner. "What is your name, Little one?"

"I'm Claire." the girl named Claire timidly replied. Catherine keeps on smiling at Claire to ease her. "How old are you, Claire?" she asked again. This time, Claire felt that the lady doctor before her was a kind person, so she slowly let down her guard and answered with a smile. "I'm six" Catherine nodded with a smile before standing up to talk to Claire's mother.

"What seems to be the problem, Ma'am?" Claire's mother sat down before speaking. "This past few months, Claire always complains that she feels dizzy and faints all of a sudden, sometimes she would complain that she felt she can't breathe and would have chest pains. We brought her to the hospital but the doctors could not diagnose her due to lack of equipment and knowledge." Claire's mother suddenly holds both of Catherine's hands while tearfully speaking. "Good doctor, please heal my child, I will do anything, just to save her."

Catherine smiled at her while holding her hands tight, in a resolute manner, she declared. "Don't worry, I will heal her to the best of my ability. Rest assured, ma'am." the mother couldn't help but burst into tears. She felt very grateful and cried while saying thank you repeatedly. Catherine went up and gave her water and went to Claire. She smiled while she check her up.

"Can you breathe together with me, Claire? Breathe in… Breathe out… One more time, Breathe in… Breathe out…" Catherine kept smiling as she guided Claire. After getting her breathing rhythm, Catherine asks a nurse for her Vital Statistic. For a while, Catherine kept silent while looking so serious when all of a sudden, she jumped out of her trance and ask a nurse to call Doctor Luke immediately. She reassured both the mother and daughter pair before talking with Doctor Luke in a secluded corner.

"What is it, Doctor Catherine?" Doctor Luke, in his white coat, asks with a smile. Catherine nodded in acknowledgment before replying. "That patient over there, I think that child has an Arrhythmia. I suspect it's an SVT(Supra-ventricular tachycardia)." upon hearing, Doctor Luke's expression became serious.

"What's your basis?" he asks while observing the child.

"Her mother said that the child would sometimes feel chest pains and would faint very easily, I also did a breathing check on her, her breathing is a bit irregular. It was subtle at first, but when I smiled at her and she smiled back at me, I notice a change in her heartbeat. She was showing signs of PVCs (Premature ventricular contractions). I still don't know if her arrhythmia is caused by Infections, Medications or it's congenital heart disease." Catherine ended her sentence with a sigh, her heart aching as she looked towards Claire who smiled at her after sensing her stare. She smiled back before turning to Doctor Luke as he touch his glabella and sighed.

"Confine her first. Until we are sure about her condition, It's best if she's within our radius. I'll Inform Doctor Helene about this. In the meantime, try to monitor her conditions. I'll get back to you after I finished." Catherine nodded and thank him to which he only smiled and left. Catherine called for a nurse to prepare a room back at the hospital, she also instructed one of the nurses to monitor her closely and report back if there is any slight changes to her vitals.

After confirming that everything is ready, Catherine walked over to Claire and her mother. She slowly breakdown the details of Claire's condition. As expected, Claire's mother cried so hard that she fainted. Claire, who felt that something has been amiss, looked up just in time to see her mother lose consciousness. Catherine called for assistance to help Claire's mom into recovery while she comforted Claire.
