Doubts

During this particular night, three people had an unpleasant sleep. They have many things running in their minds. Both Lord Zachary and Doctor Helene tossed and turned every now and then to sleep while Luke just stared at nothingness.

"Tsk." whisking away the blankets in a forceful manner, Luke got up to his bed and headed to the shower room. Looking at the mirror, his cheerful face was nowhere to be seen. Rather, a furious face was illuminated in the reflection. Eyes emit a terrifying gaze that could kill any second.

"And what does Lord Zachary mean about his sentence? Is he threatening me?" far from his usual cheerful tone of speech, the current Luke spoke with a sardonic tone.

"I am a son of a Baron. Catherine is just a nobody, why would Lord Zachary defend her. if not for her beauty, would people even flock to her…?" the more he speak, the darker his eyes were. Even his tanned knuckles turned white from his strong grip.

"Luke, are you okay? Who are you talking to?" his dorm mate woke up and knocked on the door of the bathroom to check on Luke.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me and go back to sleep." Luke dismissed his roommate. He then splashed himself some water to calm his thoughts and after making sure he is back to his cheerful persona, he went out of the bathroom. After seeing that Luke was safe and sound, the roommate didn't ask and slept once more.

Luke went back to bed and stared at the ceiling. Thinking that even until now, Catherine did not fall for his sweet courting at all, Luke went to sleep with a heart full of fury and hatred.

Catherine, on the other hand, had a good night's sleep. She woke up very early and even help prepare breakfast. Seeing her enthusiasm and cheerful mood, the kitchen staff couldn't help but smiled.

"Good morning Sister Ann! Would you like some bread for breakfast?" Catherine joyfully asks Sister Ann, who just came inside after watering the plants. She was shocked by her attitude but nonetheless accepted her gratitude.

"If you wouldn't mind. Have you had your breakfast, young lady?" Sister Ann asks as she put away the watering can. "I'll have mine with the doctors later." Catherine smiled in response. Sister Ann nodded and began eating in the pantry. Catherine continues to be busy around the kitchen, helping them prepare breakfast.

Seeing that some of the doctors are already in the Dining hall, Catherine started to serve up the food. Some senior doctors from the team were already used to Catherine helping with the chores and did not mind this one bit, but the resident doctors were shocked, and offered to help, but were declined by Catherine herself.

"Junior Doctor, While we are here, you should get yourself used to seeing this kind of scene every morning. Doctor Catherine likes to cook and helps out by serving food. It is her habit to stay in the kitchen when she is off duty." A Senior doctor humorously said to the speechless resident doctors.

"Is that so? Isn't it an arduous task to cook?" one of the resident doctors asked in curiosity. The senior doctor just shrugs his shoulder to express that he doesn't have an inkling if cooking was a hard task or not.

At this point, Lord Zachary, Doctor Helene, and Luke entered the hall consecutively. They had an odd atmosphere around them and all three of them have dark circles under their eyes. The doctors turned to look at each other in curiosity.

'Have they missed some big news?'

All the doctors present, except the three, had thousands of questions on their minds but did not dare to ask them about them after seeing their faces, akin to a monster that had been robbed of sleep.

"Good Morni-???" Catherine came out with a plate full of eggs and sees three more people at the table. She greeted as usual but paused when she noticed the awkward and silent atmosphere. She looked at the senior doctors and they shake their heads in response. "Lord Zachary, Doctor Helene, Doctor Luke, What's the matter? Are the three of you okay?"

After hearing Catherine's question, all the doctors present raised a thumb for Catherine inwardly. They applauded her for her bravery. They could never have the courage to ask the three, especially with their gaze that could kill with a single look.

The three in question jolted from their seats and looked at each other. Then they respond in unison. "Nothing! Please don't mind us."

Both Catherine and the doctors who heard this were shocking. Catherine was the first to nod and just ignored them. Seeing that she did not ask further, the trio then sighed in relief. Lord Zachary drank the juice in front of him to cool off his mind. Doctor Helene also sipped her tea and Luke started eating his breakfast silently. This series of actions caused a big wave of gossip in the doctors' minds.

"Good morning! Did everyone, get a good night's sleep?" The Director who just entered, asks without reading the room's atmosphere.

"Yes, It was a lovely evening."

"I had a pleasant night."

"Great sleep."

The trio once again answered in unison. Still didn't notice the weirdness around, the Director continued on his ramblings. "That's good to hear. In all honesty, we have already sent the fliers in advance. We also had an announcer circling the town with the news. The townsfolk were very thankful for this. And surely, many will grab the chance to get checked upon. Also, the supplies came this early morning. A great timing indeed."

"That is truly a piece of great news. I already had enough. So I'll go to the lobby to check things through, you all, keep eating. No pressure." and just like that, Lord Zachary left. "Ah! I'm finished too." Doctor Helene hurriedly chased Lord Zachary.

Everyone, aside from the Director looked at Luke. Luke raised his head when he felt countless stares from everyone.

"Yes? Do you need something?" Luke pretended to not understand their intention. "Sister Ann, Can I have more juice?" He smiled at Sister Ann, even raising his glass to emphasize.

"Yes, of course. This way." Sister Ann also did not join in the fun and just lead Luke to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, in the hospital lobby…

"For whom?" Doctor Helene asks as soon as she catches up on Lord Zachary who is currently talking to a mailman.

Lord Zachary did not need to hide these kinds of things from Doctor Helene, considering she already knows the truth and speaks honestly. "To Lord Hendrix Faucigny."

"Oh!" knowing who he really is, Doctor Helene nodded and smiled, as if a burden was lifted from her heart. "Were you worried about this matter and could not sleep?" Lord Zachary smiled teasingly and ask a question.

Looking at the taunting smile on Lord Zachary's face, Doctor Helene's face turned black. She then retorted with a question. "Aren't you the same? The bags under your eyes seem darker than mine. I can give you some tonics if you'd like."

Lord Zachary did not fall for her tricks. "Tsk. How could I decline your lovely intention? But, it seems you need it more than me, you have gotten a bit skinny. Please do take care of your health."

"By golly! You are so annoying." Doctor Helene lost her patience.

"Thanks. I'll that as a compliment." Lord Zachary just smiled and left the lobby.
