Chapter 4

The sound of the school bell ran throughout the halls dismissing them for lunch, Clay was sleeping on his desk when Caroline poked him on the cheek, “Hey, hey! Clay wake up,Wake up, wake up, wake up! WAKE UP!” The young lady shouted louder and louder to get the boy's attention as she continued to poke his cheek.

Clay grumbled and woke up giving his friend a sharp glare, “I'm up now, stop!” Clay hissed as he stood up and cracked his neck, Caroline huffed in response to which the boy flicked her forehead. “Ow that hurt dumbass!” The young lady shouted in frustration looking at Clay only to find him walking out of the class.

“Hey don't just leave when I'm talking to you!” Caroline exclaimed and followed after the demon hunter, Clay chuckled and placed his hands behind his back as listened to Caroline as she scolded him about earlier, “where are we even going?” The girl asked as she looked around the empty hallways, “to the science club so I can give them my registration form.” The boy yawned to which Caroline beamed at his words.

The two arrived at the science club room and opened the door only to be met with an explosion that covered the room and hallway with smoke, Clay looked at Caroline bewildered as he asked “Is this normal?” The two could hear heavy coughing from the lab room, “yeah it does most days,” the girl hummed as she went inside with the young man following after her starting to rethink his decision.

As the smoke cleared Clay looked around the room to find Amelea standing next to a black hair boy with both of them covered with ash, “well, that was a fail #16.” The male said with a sigh as he pulled off his protective goggles, Amelea followed suit and went to put them on the table when she noticed Clay and Caroline standing by the door.

“Oh Clay, Caroline? What are you guys doing here, eh well Caroline I know why but why you Clay?” The redhead asked as she walked towards the two, “Well hi to you too Amelea,” Caroline huffed in annoyance. Amelea laughed nervously as she rubbed the back of her head, the brunette looked at her friend for a while before sighing and answering her question, “well Clay here wants to join the science club.”

The redhead snapped her head towards the demon hunter, “Is this true!?” She asked quickly and grabbed onto the boy's shoulders and started shaking him violently. “Yes! Yes! I'm joining now, would you stop shaking me!” Clay shouted as he started to get dizzy, Smiling, Amelea stopped and cheered and did a cute little dance before realising what she was doing, she blushed and hid her face while her brunette friend laughed at her.

The black haired boy that was with Amelea walked towards the group, “oh, so you're interested in joining? By the way, I'm Oliver Walker, the president of the science club.” The young male addressed himself as he raised his hand towards his fellow black haired comrade, “Clay Blakely and yeah I'm thinking of joining,” the demon hunter responded as he shook the other male's hand.

Clay wondered what they were trying to make or do for them to fail 16 times but he didn't let his curiosity get the best of him, “So where do I sign up?” The boy asked, looking at the president who went to a table and pulled out a piece of paper from it's drawer and handed it to the demon hunter, Clay looked at the paper to find that it was an application form.

“Do any of you have a pen?” The boy asked the other three, Caroline handed the boy her pen which he thanked her and filled in the form. Finishing, he handed the paper back to the president and gave Caroline her pen back, “alright, you're an official member now! Welcome to the club!” Oliver said with a smile as he patted Clay's shoulder while the girl's hugged the living daylights out of the poor boy.

The young man's face slowly turned blue as he was losing air from getting squeezed so hard by the two excited girls, “girls let him go, he's starting to turn blue!” Oliver laughed, the girl's looked up at Clay's face to see him half unconscious to which they quickly let him go and started apologizing repeatedly. After catching his breath Clay stopped the girl's, “It's alright girls, I'm fine now,” The boy waved it off and gave them a genuine smile, making the girl's blush slightly at his action.

Clay noticed Oliver looking at the place where the explosion happened deep in thought, “that reminds me, what were you guys doing before we walked in?” Clay asked, snapping the other male out of his thoughts, “oh we were trying to make a crystal fragment but we just can't get the mixture right,” Oliver exclaimed, biting on his nails in frustration.

“Oh you mind if I see what you're mixing in?” Clay asked as he walked up next to the president, Oliver nodded and handed the male a piece of paper with a list of compounds that they were using, after analyzing the paper for a few minutes Clay found the problem. “Ah I see what the problem is!” he exclaimed, making everyone look at him shocked, “What!?” The other three asked in surprise as the demon hunter walked up to where the experiment was being held.

Placing on a lab coat and safety goggles Clay started doing the experiment and after a few minutes Clay strapped back as the beaker that he was using started to emit some smoke, “Huh,did it fail again?” Amelea asked curiously to which the young boy chuckled, “Just wait,” he exclaimed as a small explosion came from the beaker. Clay waited for a few seconds before walking up to the beaker and looked inside before grinning, he reached down grabbing something that was inside the beaker, Clay turned to the others who walked up to him curious to what he had.

Clay opened his palm to reveal a red crystal, the three's eyes widened as they grabbed the crystal out of the lad's hand and examined it. “The hell! How did you do it!?” Oliver asked, bewildered and shocked along with the others, “well what you guys did wrong was you had the bunsen burner burning on medium but it needed to be at low because the optimum temperature of the mixture is too low, then you added too much Calcium hydroxide and too little Potassium dichromate, then you forgot to add in Calcium sulphate, Potassium chloride and Caustic potash.” Clay exclaimed leaving everyone god-smacked.

“Well damn! That was a wonderful job!” Oliver praised as his eyes were still on the crystal, “I didn't know you were this smart Clay!” Caroline said looking at the young man who rubbed the side of his head and chuckled. “It's nothing really,” the boy exclaimed, “oh that's bull, none of us would have figured it out ya know!” Amelea huffed and set her foot down, Clay shook his head and smiled, “Alright alright! Anyways let's start our club activities shall we.”
