Moon III: A lesson under the night sky

The night had fallen upon the forest. Insects were making noises in the grass; some beasts were out hunting but avoided the convoy because of the lights. It wasn’t long before the leading royal guard, Rene’lis, stopped the track. She preferred to be called that instead of Lydonis, she only let the other royal guards call her Lydonis. She got down from her horse and walked forth.

There, was the furthest edge of land and forest, past that, was a huge river. It was so immense, it was impossible to see the other part of the path, barely trees in the far distance. The normal path would be to go along the river on land, but it would mean taking a 4-day long way as they would have to go East then come back towards the South. Since matters were urgent, the king asked the travel by water.

Another way would have been using the portals the queen created, but those were running low on energy supply and were used only in extraordinary situations.
