The first day of school after a long break always felt like chaos and comfort rolled into one. The comforting part was slipping back into the usual routine with my closest friends: Meri, Arga, Abi, and Daffin. The chaos? Well, that was mostly Arga.
“I swear, I’m going to pass out if I don’t eat something soon,” Arga groaned dramatically, slumping over his desk as if he were moments away from fainting.
“It’s 10 a.m., Arga,” Meri said, rolling her eyes while doodling on the corner of her notebook. “Didn’t you have breakfast?”
“I did,” Arga admitted, his voice muffled against the desk. “But that was hours ago! My metabolism is like a freight train. I need sustenance.”
Abi smirked, tossing a candy wrapper at him. “What do you want us to do, order a catering service? Or maybe we should all start wearing chef hats just for you.”
“I vote we make him forage for food during recess,” Daffin chimed in, laughing as Arga shot him a look of pure betrayal.
