Another Survivor II

They were just eyeing every inch of movement that he makes.

A mixture of relief and excitement Eurus felt for a moment. Eurus wanted to wave his hand to him, a simple gesture of his greetings. But seeing Luke's sudden emotion, a face drizzled with worry, he quickly snapped out from his thoughts and did not proceed.

The man slowly moved closer to the duffel bag on the ground. He glanced at it for a moment. He knew that someone must have dropped it. Then he surveyed every inch of his surroundings to where his eyesight can reach. He looked to his left, then to his right. He saw no one. He then turned to his back, he noticed Luke and Eurus getting nearer towards him. He just stood up from his position, didn't react, nor didn't say anything.

When their visions met, Luke settled back into a slow walk despite the urgency. Eurus couldn't grasp what Luke have in mind. He just quickly followed him with the same pace, just slowly walking towards him.

As soon as they got closer, they distanced themselves fifteen feet away from him. They stood up from that distance and quickly settled in complete silence, they gazed at him, scanning every inch of his being, and not a single word came out.

As Eurus was studying his body, looking up and down, he got a clear vision of the man's appearance, he was wearing the same bracelet as them, his both eyes were slightly red, clothes ripped, and covered with bruises and scratches all over his figure.

His skinny and pale-looking face, just screaming of intimidation.

Different emotions have been racing for dominance inside Eurus' mind all of a sudden. But by just seeing his whole demeanor, his relief feeling shifted into fear once again. He knew something was not in place.

The man just stood in silence for a moment, not having any eye contact between the both of them, just looking at the ground intently.

Eurus then looked over to his left shoulder. "What do we do," he asked Luke, whispering, as calmly as possible as he could be, trying to ignore the wavering fear inside him.

After that, the man suddenly moved his head. He looked at Eurus for a moment, and when their eyes met, Eurus was startled. His sudden response was enough for him to take a step back from his position.

Then the man's sight focused on luke for a second, then back at Eurus, with his eyes widened. "Will-will you guys, will you guys help me?" The man suddenly asked, with his voice sounding dull.

He repeated what he said while simultaneously took steps forward.

Eurus suddenly felt a nervous rose inside him. But Luke just stood firmly from his position. He didn't flinch, he didn't react, he didn't change his attention from him, and not a single inch from his body has he ever felt enfeebled.

"Who-who are you guys?" The man followed up with another question, still gazing at both of them without breaking any contact.

"Help me! Help me! Help me! Help me," He repeated and repeated, his voice faltered, then faded.

Eurus was shocked by his sentence. But his words were clear to his head, yet he had no idea what he meant.

There was a fraught silence afterward for a moment.

The man was breathing air faster than usual. Then he turned to his back, he kept on scratching both of his arms, then his neck, then back to his arms, repeating over and over again.

He kept whispering to himself, words that they could barely hear.

Upon seeing his movements, Eurus' mind quickly registered that those scratches that he saw earlier were from his own. Eurus was very much unsettled with his measures. His feeling of relief completely vanished from his mind. Just by seeing his whole bearing, he instantly knew he was helpless. His thoughts of having another companion slowly vanished from his mind.

The man once again turned on his back, facing their directions. "Please, help me!" He said. "Get me out of here, please!" he added, with his voice rising in desperation.

It came to his realization what his words meant. It became much clearer. But he was still in awe hearing those words so swift.

"How long have you been here?" Luke asked all of a sudden. Eurus looked at him, surprised how he was still able to spit some words.

"A year," He responded. "Yes, a year!" he added, as his head was nodding, while simultaneously looking at them both, his voice sounded higher than usual, excitement appeared to his emotion. His face grew with a big smile but slowly shifted into a frown.

"A year, a year, a year," He kept on repeating, but this time, with a low-pitched voice, as if he was whispering to himself. The sound of his voice ended having an infuriated tone.

A year. He repeated and repeated those words-almost chanting.

Eurus couldn't believe what he had just said. "A year!? a fucking year!?" He thought to himself. Disheartened with the information he heard. Despair once again ascended from his sentiment, thinking of different scenarios that might happen to him.

Eurus suddenly felt his hopes drop. "What if I get stuck here for a year? or worse, more than that? What if I can't get out?" He thought to himself, thousands of possibilities kept on appearing in his thoughts.

But he did not say a word, nor reacted to it. He kept it to himself. He just stood from his position, couldn't scream his heart out.

"Are you guys, are you guys here to help me?" The man asked once again. but by this time, his voice sounded more relaxed than before. The man scanned both of their faces, waiting for a reply, but not a single sound came out.

Eurus looked at Luke, waiting for him to make a move, but none came. Several seconds passed in silence.

The man reacted once more. "Aren't you guys here to help me? Don't you know how long I have been here? He said. "A year!" He added again with those words. Both were just annoyed hearing those exact words over and over again.

Like a record player, played over and over again.

Every time he announces those words, he kept on repeating them over and over again until his voice faded, like a person completely losing his sanity.

As silence again settled between the three of them.

"We can't help you," Luke responded all of a sudden. "Even if we wanted to, we can't. We don't know our way out," Luke added. His tone sounded smooth, yet convincing.

It was slight ease for Eurus felt once again that Luke continued their conversation. He was relying on him for their next action, as he does not want to engage in a dialogue with him, still intimidated by his character.

The man did not respond for a second upon hearing Luke, and not a single noise came out from him. He just paused to his place, standing still.

Yet, then again, seconds later, the man peered his eyes on Eurus. "You!" he said while pointing his finger towards him, shouted with exasperation.

He said something that made no sense. He stared back at the ground for a moment. His lips kept on saying some words, but not a single sound came out. They kept on reading his lips, but none made no sense at all.

Seconds later, his gaze went back to focus on Eurus again. But his next words left him in a state of confusion.

"You! you have been here longer than me, I know," He said with his voice settled in a calm tone, as calm as he could ever be. It was as if he sounded like a completely normal being.

"How do we get out?" He asked, waiting for his answer. But it seems like, Eurus doesn't have any.

He couldn't comprehend every word that came out of his mouth, he wanted to react, but his emotions were keeping him still.

He didn't say a single word and just waited for the next moment. He wanted to know more-he needed to know more.

"What does he mean by that?". "Maybe he's just making things up. He's delusional. I just woke up." words trapped inside his mind, that he was not able to deliver. Still intimidated by this whole situation but at the same time, hating the twinge of unsettlement he felt, it felt like someone kicked him on his sides.

"Tell me... Tell me how you get out of this... Misery," He stated, with both of his eyebrows drawn together, waiting for his answer.

Still, Eurus didn't respond at all. Even if he wanted to, he had no idea what to say.

Luke suddenly interrupted. "Look, we have no business of how you got here, nor any ideas on how to get out. We're in the same shoes, boy," Luke responded. "And this squiggy right here, have no idea how to get out either, he could even barely move his muscle when he sees those hideous-beast," he added.

As a response, the man was just having a breathy, gleeful laugh, and didn't say a word.

Minutes-no, hours, have been wasted since they got out of their shade.

So Luke came to ignore his measures. He glanced at the watch that he was wearing on his left hand. Aware of the time wasted. Then he nudged Eurus with his elbow and wanted to pick up the bag, then proceed on their move.

But it was too late.
