Chapter Fifteen

Ombretta had tan brown skin, long black hair she wore in a braid that ran down her back, and big hazel eyes that were narrowed in a glare at amaris. They have been for the last fifteen minutes. Amaris found herself desperate for Ash to come back. The four of them sat in a small room at the back of the house with a lit lantern on a small table, a wall of bookshelves filled with nick nacks and two old ripped and tattered sofas. The lantern threw a low hazy light on the yellow wallpaper that was probably once an intricate golden swirl on a white background but now begged to be taken down. The light also shined off the dagger that ombretta was toying with as she studied amaris with a deep frown.

The silence was stifling. Only the clicks of Slygrin trying to start the fireplace and mirage picking up and putting back things on the shelves. Amaris twirled her bracelet over and over and ignored the deadly glare until she couldn’t anymore.
