A Meeting Between Two Seers’
Olivia
The drugs had managed to do it again, and honestly, for the life of me, I couldn’t understand why. Either they helped me out, or they helped create the out of experience that I was prone to having—like I was having now.
However, was a different state for me. Last time, I was here, it had been due to natural occurrences.
But here. Now.
This could not be because of what I had in my own mod at the Hookah Lounge.
It just did not make sense.
Waking up at least this place looked and felt familiar. The snow falling on the ground. However, this time, I didn’t see any dead bones littered all over the ground, which was either a good thing, or taken as an ominous sign of things to come.
When I walked a little closer, a voice called out to me just like it had the last time.
“Volva,” She called out. This time, I could distinctly tell that it was a female that was trying to commune with me. “Volva,” she repeated herself trying to keep my attention and focus. “Follow the sound of my voice. I can show you where to find me.”
I followed her voice down the path that she was going, remembering it from the last time I was here, and this time, I saw what looked like was a balcony or something close to it peeking over the skyline of the surroundings.
This time, the more I looked around, following her before I lost her, I saw more shimmering of gold. Or that was their reflection of what it looked like when the light hit the columns just at the right angle.
I also saw another hall next to my south which was covered entirely in sliver, which also gave off the same gleaming effect as I continued down the path, I saw her, standing magnificently in the sunlight.
I truly was enthralled by her natural beauty. She was truly drop dead exquisite.
On her wrists were some of the finest jewelries that I did not know could exist, but here she was wearing some of it as if it were just commonplace to her. A part of me felt like she looked just a little bit conceited but who was I to make such snap judgments like that?
She was also very slender built for a goddess of her stature, but it looked like she lacked just a little bit of muscle.
Her red hair flowed gracefully in the wind behind her as she was sitting on sitting on bench that was either made from Silver or gold, just like what the rest of this palace was made from. Or was this simply a fortress that I had somehow gotten through. Either way, being here was starting to feel intimidating, and the sooner I could leave, the better I might feel about it.
“Come closer,” her silky voice cooed me. Her hand motioning me forward. “Come my little Vovla, or…should I refer to you as what they call you on Midgard.” She stared at me intensely. “Olivia, is it?”
“Ye…s” I was frozen in place. I felt like I had was trapped in an enchantment of sorts since I couldn’t move. I couldn’t stop staring either. Was I truly lusting over her like this? Mentally cheating on Erin, while not trying to.
Finally, after a silent moment between us, she came to me, where she was pulling me towards her and suddenly, it hit me. I almost figure out why she was so heavenly. So divine.
Her sheer appearance made people want her. In any way possible.
Physically, sexually. All of it. And now, I was feeling it too.
“How…” I started again, as I tried to push the feeling of wanting her to the side so I can focus. “How did you know my name?”
“I know the names of all my Seers that have learned my craft.” She responded. “Or who have inherited my gift as well. Which is now passed to you.”
“Who are you?” I asked her. I was completely at a loss here. “How…How are we connected like you say we are?”
She got up from the bench she was sitting on and pulled me with her down another pathway.
As I was dragged by her, she forced me to follow her down along what seemed like a river, since I could hear water running below us, and then down past a bridge that we were moving too fast to really look at.
Finally, we stopped at what I could summarize as her house. Yet oddly enough I didn’t know whether she ever set foot in there or wanted to show it off to someone completely unknown like me.
“What am I?” I asked her again, trying to not lose my patience with her. “To you? To this place? My friends, they mentioned that I was special, that I could see the events of the future, but that didn’t make any sense.”
“You are friends with some very nice people Olivia,” She started, once again trying to play with me and showing me that she held what I took as a deep interest in me, whether it be physical or otherwise; my mind instantly wandered to the sexual part since that how sexy I knew I was. “Very interesting circle that you surround yourself in?”
“Yes,” I huffed, pushing away a piece of my hair away from my face, getting annoyed now. “I’m surrounded by good people. People who protect me. My friend Kaitlyn, a Valkyrie, Sam- “
“Oh, so it’s you who has the Valkyrie as an ally?” She played again, laughing this time. “As it is, you must protect them. You must help them. They are in grave danger.”
“Danger?” I quizzed her. Since she wanted to play games, I would try playing one of my own. “What’s going on that would put the Valkyries at the heart of danger?”
She suddenly sensed how I was trying to game her, and then her face turned all serious. It wasn’t much, but I sensed a small victory.
“My name is Freya, the Goddess of Love, Sex, Lust, Beauty, Sorcery, blah, blah,” Freya explained. “I also lead a group of people who can see the events of the future—here in Asgard, we call them Vovla, to everyone else, they are known as Seers. Which is what you are. A Seer.”
“What does me having to be a Seer have to do with what’s going on?” I asked Freya, now more confused as ever. “I don’t quite follow you on this.”
“Everything.” She replied with an icy tone to her voice now. “We are equally important to the events of the world, much like the Valkyries are to the others. Your lover, Kaitlyn desires to be one, while Samantha is one.”
My mouth fell to the ground when she said that about Kaitlyn. I didn’t know that—I knew that Sam had discussions with me and Brittany about her potential, but she was never certain.
And Sam was never one to make snap judgments like that. But for Freya to say it like that, so brash, so suddenly, and without even thinking, she must have known. There had to be something she knew that I didn’t.
“I know that Sam is a Valkyrie, she has been for several centuries.” Freya explained. “It was her birthright that made her one, and…” She pauses looking around as if something is coming towards us.
“You must go.” Freya warned me and started to push me towards the direction of which we came. “You must get back to them.”
“Freya,” I asked her confused. “I don’t understand. What’s happening. What’s going on?”
“An ancient war is coming, and no one is safe. Not you. Not me. Not Sam. Not Kait. They are in danger. You must rush back to them and help them.” Her voice turned into a cold, unforgiving tone, that also held a hint of despair. “Go now my Seer. Please help me protect them. When you need me again, you’ll know. Now go.”
As she said those words, I felt my body slowly start to throw itself back down to earth as the Fortress of Asgard, and Freya both faded from my view. The only thing I knew as I continued to fall away was that Sam, Kait and I were in even more danger now, than we had been before.
I could feel the sounds of the car speeding along the road, as I slowly was recovering from not only my vision, but also knocking off the effects of succumbing to my own drugs
Erin glanced up through the rearview mirror from the front seat on the passenger side. She smiled big, thankful that I had made it past another uncomfortable episode.
“Glad to see that my queen is awake.” She laughed, in good spirits that I had survived. “Did you go back there again,” she asked, trying to be careful with her choice of words. “Or did you end up somewhere else?”
“I was there…” I tried to say, but somehow couldn’t. How would explain what I went through. I felt like there were no words. “But at the same time, I wasn’t. I was in another part of the same place. It’s rather difficult to explain.”
Kait hugged, and then pulled me close. “Then don’t do right now. Tell us when you are comfortable.”
I looked at her, deep in the eyes, as if I wanted to cry. “It’s about us now.” I whispered and then started to nudge myself up against her. Her body was warm, just as I always knew it to be.
“Then tell me and her about it later.” She pleaded. “Will you please? I want to know.” She pleaded while she also sounded like she was sad about it too.
“I will Kait,” I swore to her. “You know it was weird,” I tried to explain this next part. “The goddess there, she knew who you were. She knew who Sam was.”
Kait made a sound that told me she didn’t like that part but until she knew more, wasn’t going to press. Not until the three of us were together again.
“Where are we going?” I asked Lauren who was hurrying along the freeway, going well over the limit. “Lauren?”
“I don’t know, when we left, we didn’t think of a place so I thought we could go back to Brittany’s compound to clean up,” she said with such a hurry that she wasn’t paying attention.
From Kaitlyn’s side, we had been hit by something, that nearly tipped us over on the first attempt, however, Lauren was able to stay with the blow and keep us right, but not before that something went at it again, this time, using more force which sent us crashing down below.
“GUYS WE’RE GOING DOWN!” We all screamed. “BRACE YOURSELF!”
I quickly looked over at Kait who was busy throwing up a shield of sorts to protect us as we fell quickly to the asphalt trapped inside an extremely hot car.
I could smell the smoke, and see the fire, as I snapped up from my daze currently hanging upside in the car as the fire continued to slowly work its way through the car. As I struggled to find my knife, so I could cut it, a soft finger touched my lips and when I looked over, I felt more at ease.
Kait had managed to free herself and was working on getting everyone out but first, she had to snap the seatbelt around me loose and when she did, I carefully crawled through the car and came out unharmed.
At least, that how I took it right now since I didn’t see any cuts or bruises. And because of that, I was thankful. I was thankful to have Kait in a moment such as this.
“Are you okay?” she asked me as she pulled me into her. Even in a wreck like this she had a heavenly scent about her. “Are you hurt?”
She started frantically running her hands over me, checking me for any more signs of damage or other injuries, that I could have sustained during the fall.
“Baby,” I grabbed her hands to stop her mid search. “Literally, I am fine. For now.” I exhaled a sigh, trying not to snap on her, when I knew she was just making sure that I was free of injury. I quickly looked back up towards the bridge and thought I saw a faint figure of what looked like monster that had wings. But could have imagined that? “I’m sorry,” I apologized for snapping on her like that. “Just a little shaken up is all. Come on, we have to get the others and find a way back to where we needed to be.”
After about ten minutes between me and Kait we had pulled Lauren and Erin both out just in time before the car truly exploded into flames. I carried Erin around my shoulder, while Kait was also shouldering Lauren, who were both knocked out cold from the collision.
“I still can’t my head around what happened back there.” I tried explaining it to Kait as we were walking down the freeway, under the cover of the night. “It’s like, a whole another world when I’m there.”
“A whole another world?” she asked, clearly intrigued. “Now I understand why Sam keeps wanting to take me there.” She looked at me. “Did you feel at home? Did it feel like you were always there?”
I mentally stopped for a moment and thought. And Kait was right.
In my two times there, I felt at peace, at home. Which felt weird since before those two times, I had never been there. But since, I had a feeling of attachment to that place.
“I did,” I replied to her, quietly. “Yes. It was full of energy, life, and power. I could feel the power of what it held.” I thought back to the first time I was there, seeing the burnt skulls laying on the ground. “Like, the first time, when I was there Kait.”
“Yeah?”
“Those skulls that were burnt, I felt all their pain, all their sadness. And even if I had been walking in my vision, the pain, the anger, it all felt real. And I felt attached to it all.”
“That could be how you interact as a Seer then. Physically being there, but there could be other ways, that you have to find out on your own.”
“I want you there.” I turned to face her, and as I did, almost dropped Erin. “Kait, whatever is going on, whatever were caught up in, I am not going to see this alone. I want you with me. I need you with me.” I fixed my reach with Erin. “Kait, this runs deeper than just the Valkyries. Freya can sense it.”
“Fine,” Kait, exhaled, also readjusting her hold with Lauren. “You have my back. As a fighter. As a person. But you also have Sam too.”
“I wouldn’t want to run into this without her calm collected intellect. I think if were together, we can be force to be reckoned with.”
“Possibly.”
After a few more minutes down the freeway, Erin, and Lauren both finally aroused to their senses, and realize that they were incredibly lucky.
“I swear,” Lauren Started, always not liking how we end up in these situations. “I’ve told you this before Kait, I hate your judgement calls.”
“It’s those same judgement calls,” Kait snapped back. “That have kept us alive. Or do you need a reminder of the rave?”
“No,” Lauren quieted down, thinking back to how they made it through that night because of Kait’s quick thinking. “I’m good.”
“I threw up a shield through my magic, and that’s why we all walked away with the minor of injuries.” Kait replied, trying to not get mad or start anything with Lauren. “Though, the blow was softened to some degree. It couldn’t prevent you from getting knocked out cold. Olivia and I just somehow got to be really lucky.”
“Thanks.” Lauren replied, now looking a mix between guilty and sad for trying to chastise Kaitlyn’s choices. “I guess you two did. We must have taken a nasty crash then.”
“We did.” I told her. “I woke up upside down still tethered to my seat through the seatbelt. As for the car though…” I sighed, now feeling guilty, because I felt like I had once again created a chain of events that we couldn’t control. “It didn’t make it. I’m sorry Lauren.”
“I’d rather trade my car in for you. That’s what matters.” Lauren replied trying to make the most of the situation. “If you or anyone else had died, then I would be upset. Just making it out the way we did, was lucky. And clever on Kait’s part.” She winked in Kait’s direction.
“Where are we?” Lauren asked as she looked onward down the road, trying to figure out where we were going, or at least trying to.
“I just wanted to follow the road, hoping to see if we can come across an exit so we can get away from all the chaos.” I replied as we walked down the road before us.
A little farther up I started to see the faint outline of what finally appeared to be an off ramp, and when it did come into view, I pointed it out for everyone else, and we started making a run towards it, however, when we did reach the beginning of the off ramp, we were unceremoniously graced with Carrie’s presence, and honestly, in this faint light, I couldn’t tell if she was happy to see us, or happy that she could potentially get her revenge that she craved for so long.
“My, my,” Carrie purred, as she walked closer to us, which already put me on defense. “This is quite the sight to see. After everything I’ve done to take you all out, here you are before me.” She had dressed casually in a simple plain colored T and some waist fitting denim jeans. Her hair was a dark shade of brown that complemented her dark surroundings, and her brown eyes shined brightly now of night, she only looked at us.
“So that was you’re doing back on that ramp we crashed off of?” I snapped, now infuriated. “I had this feeling you were involved, but I didn’t think you would stoop this low to trying to get rid of me, to get rid of everyone else.”
“Well,” Carrie spoke with excitement, like she had succeeded in her attempted murder. “To be honest, I didn’t think that the zombie would send you off the ramp. That was just a side effect of unfortunate luck. But the fact of the matter is that you are here now. Very. Much. Alive.” She said the last three words as if she was trying to say ‘thank you for living through that’ only the feeling felt ten times worse.
It even bothered me when said that she was happy for my very existence. As far as I could remember, she never liked me being alive. She was always trying to kill me, since I had been graced with a family trait, that she was supposed to get. There had to be more to this.
I could sense it.
“Why do you want us alive so bad?” I pushed my anger towards her with my words since she loathed me being alive to begin with. “Last I knew you would rather have me dead.”
“Oh sweetie,” she mocked me with her fake caring voice. “That hurts mommy. All I ever wanted to do, was take care of you.”
“You call, trying to set my hand on fire, taking care of me.” I spit at her with my words. “Truth be told, I despised you from the very first time, you started abusing me. Ever since, I can’t stand the sight of you.”
I had done it now. I struck a nerve with her and provoked her. “You little ungrateful bitch. Now, for that, you will die.”
Right then, Kait stepped besides me and protected me. “I fought you once on this Carrie. I spared you then.” Her words came out like venom. Full of Anger. Full hate. “This time, I won’t. You even think of touching her, I will kill you.”
Carrie only laughed. “I’d like to see you try that, once I introduce you to my friends.”
“Kait laughed at her. “And just the hell would want to be friends with you, aside from Elizabeth and Julian.”
Carrie came out of the light that she was basking herself in and approached me and Kaitlyn.
“Oh sweetie, you have no idea just how powerful I am, and how powerful my friends are. I’m your worst nightmare right now, and I’m about to make your world a hell of a lot worse.”
Suddenly behind her, another figure appeared from the darkness and was next to her. She lazily waved it towards us and instructed it to kill us.
This thing was weird. It was as ugly as anyone humanly could be. He was also smaller than most males I had ever come to known in my short life. His hair was also a mess and looked like he hadn’t taken care of it for months now.
He was also wielding a sharp axe on him which meant if he struck any of us, and he connected on his swings, he would turn us into minced meat.
He pridefully and evilly roared, putting his axe into the air as he did, and then suddenly charged us.
I had to break away from Kaitlyn who also had to dodge him by rolling to her side, knowing that avoiding the swing would be the only way that we live through this.
It’s a dwarf. Kait informed me through our connection. From what I studied on them when I was younger, they were thought to have bad tempers, but they were incredible weapon makers, and this one is no exception. Be careful.
Okay, I told her back. Should I be using magic since I am weapon less.
Try not to use magic. She replied. If you have any of your butterflies, use them sparingly. We can’t take a hit from his axe.
Right.
And she was right about doing everything to avoid the axe. That instrument alone would kill us all in one fell swoop if he got the chance.
Quickly, I reached my knife and popped it open, while I waited for it to make its move. While technically, it could only take on one of us, that axe told me that he could hit three people for him instead, and that was what I wanted to avoid.
It started charging towards me, while also swinging the axe it was carrying, and I was able to throw myself to the side, while just narrowly avoiding the swing itself. However, I knew that it was going to keep trying.
I danced around till I came beside Erin who also was trying to keep pace with evading the swings it was delivering. Her emotions told me that she was just as worried about that weapon.
This was a time I wish I had my own sword like Kait, but at times, I also enjoyed not carrying something that could also hold her back. I threw some magic unintentionally at it, and its axe simply chopped it down like it was nothing, and I was forced to move again, but when I did, I got an idea, and it would require some coordination on both Erin’s and Kait’s part.
Kait, I have an idea I need your help with. I communed with her. It’s risky, but I think we can pull it off
It’s your plan love, Kait delegated to me. Just tell me what I need to do, and ill follow the best I can without trying to kill us.
I need your telekinesis; Erin and I can handle the magic.
Okay. Just tell me when.
I looked back and nodded at her. Erin could sense what I was planning and didn’t have to ask, we just had to time this moment right.
Erin moved to her side continuously as she threw magic at the dwarf who lazily knocked it down, while I also used my knife to block whatever swings I could before he would be able to knock it out of my hand and make me defenseless.
I moved fluidity with Erin going on the opposite side of her, while I had Kaitlyn in my rear view waiting for her chance. There had to be a soft spot that we could find and exploit so we could bring him down.
Finally, after a few moments, I had my opening and threw some of my magic at it, and while it shrugged off the attack, it was confused and that’s when I took my chance.
“Kait!” I yelled. “Now!”
She ran up behind the creature and jumped high into the air, and when she did, I threw my blade towards the exposed area—which was the base of its head---and as I did, she used her telekinesis to get the blade in her hand.
Once she had it, she slammed it through the skin, so hard that the creature roared from the pain, and starting thrashing around the open road, trying to throw Kait off; and he had, Lauren and I also worked together and mad a net so she could land safely, and we watched as the dwarf struggled, until it later collapsed from the wound that had been inflicted on its head.
I looked back at Carrie who just angrily growled at us, since we just had bested what she had thrown at us, hoping it would kill us instead.
“That was sheer luck.” She said angrily. Clearly not ready to call it quits on trying to kill us. “This next one—it will bring the end of you. I would like to introduce you to my friends.”
Kait chuckled, yanking the blade from the head of the dwarf, and wiping the blood off and the pointing it towards Carrie. “Friends? Again, who the hell would be friends with you?”
“These people.” She snapped her fingers into the night, and then we all heard what seemed to be a truck rolling down the road.
It was coming fast, and from my view I could faintly see people inside and it looked like they were pointing at something.
I take that back, at someone—us.
We all gathered up next to each standing side by side, knowing that if at any moment, we tried to run, they might kill us.
Even if we didn’t run, we still might be dead.
As the vehicle came into our view, I could tell that it was one of those military styled Hum-Vs and there wasn’t just one of them. They had brought two.
They had parked one to my left side, and the other to the right, and, trapped us. Methodically, they all exited their Hum-Vs in order, neatly and efficiently.
I didn’t know how many were coming, all I knew, was that they were exactly what they looked like---trouble.
The first one to exit the Hum-V was a Gentleman that was very cleanly shaven and looked like he spent years decorated in service with the amount of confidence, and command I could feel emanate from him. He stood a towering six feet tall.
“Thank you, Asher,” The gentleman spoke firmly, never once yielding his status as the one in charge. He felt intimidating, and powerful all at the same time.
He wore all black attire that made him blend in with the darkness of the sky. I had the impression though, that this man severed in the military for years and was a highly decorated service member.
His comrade who opened the door for him just slightly shorter than he was, but had black hair and brown eyes, and like him had also dressed in clad black clothing, making his presence under the sky as well.
The next member of their group that came out of the Hum-V was also a male who looked like he was of average height, however his hair was well trimmed and taken care of. Just by his face, I could tell that he was of part Japanese descent. At his waist, were weapons that looked like he could use to hold more than just four innocent women who got in his way.
“Gentlemen,” Their leader spoke firmly again, but the commanding part of his tone rose an octave or two. “These are the girls we were meant to find.” He pointed at us. “Get them! That one has the scent of a Valkyrie. We must capture her and little friends.”
The other two swiftly jumped into action, and I could sense that trying to prevent them from getting either me or Kait was going to be quite the hassle.
I got the feeling that these people only cared about one thing: Their mission at hand, and currently we were their targets of interests.
They formed a circle that still included Carrie in it, and I knew that we were outmatched in terms of sheer strength. While we had a numbers advantage, strength we did not.
Carrie snapped her fingers again, and two more dwarves appeared in front of her with their weapons, which technically even the numbers part of the field.
“Kait,” Lauren spoke, pushing her hair up and to the side. “I hope you have some strength left in you.”
“I’ll do what I can. I don’t have much left since I’ve been running off my adrenaline for a little bit.”
“Good,” Lauren replied. Still not liking how this was going to turn. “Since I really don’t see any way out of the mess, we were in.”
Kait looked at me, and she could see that my palms had lit up with a bluish colored hue, letting her know that I wanted to use magic. However, when I locked my eyes with her, I could tell that she was saying no not right away and just to be as effective with our knives as possible. However, my act had also caught their attention.
“Yo bro,” The male named Akio spoke up. “The other girl is also a magic user; does commander want her as well?”
“Dude,” The other male named Ezra replied. “Dude, we take everyone even remotely related to the Valkyrie. No one can be left to tell the tale of what happened here tonight.”
“Girls,” Kait directed. “We need to go hand to hand as long as possible. We should only use magic as a last resort.”
“Okay,” They all acknowledged. “We can do that.”
Kait was adamant that we couldn’t let them know how skillful with magic we were, that would only hamper our chances of getting through ordeal. It was bad enough that some in this game of cat and mouse knew our names personally.
Well, knew Kait’s and Sam’s. Mine still was quite the mystery to them; for the current time being, and I honestly, wanted to drag it out for as long as possible.
“How do you get to control the dwarves like you do?” Kait asked, as the two soldiers advanced towards. “Who do you belong to? Who do you work for?”
“We work for no one dearest Kaitlyn,” Their commanding officer spoke to her. “In fact, we were asked, or rather should I say--- we were tasked with trying to capture you. These creatures that you see before you, they are on loan for helping us with our mission. Which is to get you, and elusive girlfriend, Samantha, yes?” He laughed. “Yes, I know. Then again,” He threw his arms out wide, proclaiming his excitement over the moment. Who doesn’t?”
I looked back and saw how fearful she was looking, even though I knew she wouldn’t immediately show that side of herself. It looked like she was trying to rack her brain on trying to figure a way out of this mess we that we found ourselves in.
Finally, the two other men finally came rushing towards us, and I barely had time to react, since I had to account for the dwarf and the other two as well.
Going hard to the ground, I managed to roll to my side, and launch a kick to the dwarf, which caused him to lose control and the drop the axe, and just as he was trying to get it back in his hands, I harshly jabbed him through the chest, get my hand covered in the scarlet blood stain that now covered my hand, which made hold my knife tricky.
Once I had dispatched the dwarf, Erin was beside me ready to fight the soldiers, as I knew they would prove to be quite the challenge.
Akio was the one who charged me and Erin, since Ezra went to rush Kaitlyn, and boy, from what I could in between my fights, he was also handful. How he was able to keep pace with a woman who moved like lighting blew me away, but also made it that much dangerous.
Akio and I traded blows and then also threw a ton of misses, as I went to look for an opening. He certainly didn’t seem to care that he was outnumbered. He had pinned me to the ground, and as I was trying to struggle to free myself from his tenacious grips, He had left Erin completely unguarded, as I watched her try to use magic to get him off me.
However, it was like he knew that, and instantly went for his stun gun, and stunned her with the voltage that the weapon held and then hastily got off me to handle her and that was his mistake.
As he was working the restraints, I kicked them out of his hand and went for a low sweep that I was aiming to take him out from under his knees.
Instead what happened was—the restraints did drop to the ground, however he went for me, and launched a painful kick into my side, and then a punch to my stomach, which caused me momentarily to be dazed and to be taken to the ground, where he also used his stun gun to stun my system and keep me in check where he then rolled me over on my side, and tightly pulled the restraints on my wrists and then forced me up to my knees where I was forced to watch as Erin suffered the same treatment.
Afterwards, we were both forced up to our feet, where we were forced to a Hum-V and we were, I weakly looked back and saw that Kaitlyn had also been bested in her bout as well, getting the same treatment as Erin and I, which told us that these soldiers were well trained, and extremely dangerous.
They weren’t the types to play around. They looked like they could have killed us, yet we were spared. But why? If no one were to not know of what happened here tonight, why were we being kept alive.
“Eh,” Ezra said after his fight with Kaitlyn and having her securely restrained. “So, the other girl wasn’t joking about your skills. She was fucking serious about using force. You are hard to nail down.”
“Just who are you?” I watched as Kait snarled at him, trying to break free of the wrist restraints but struggling. “Why do you want me? What do you intend to do with me?”
“I’d love to be the one to tell you,” He forcefully try to force Kaitlyn into the same Hum-V as me, however she didn’t move. “However, we have our mission, and unfortunately, you’re not on the list of “need-to-know-basis people.”
“What in god’s name are you talking about?” She replied with more hate and rage. “How do you know about me? My girl? Just who the hell are you?”
“Oh me?” Ezra was trying to be humorous now. “I’m only the messenger mate. Just a lackey following orders to the letter.”
So, this team had the extensive training, and they also were a part of the massive power complex that seemed to keep growing at every turn, which made it hard to tell who was chasing who as well as who belonged to who.
“Bro,” How did you do?” Ezra asked Akio.
“She has been extremely well trained and didn’t go down easily,” Akio replied, looking at me. “Judging by the looked of how that girl,” the way he that girl towards me felt demeaning. “Had been trained, you didn’t get amazing luck either. They’re serious fighters for sure.”
I didn’t immediately take notice to the other two women that were on the sides of their Hum-Vs helping loading Kaitlyn into the back.
“You were too soft,” Akio commented. “Because she was a girl. And you were told not to. For this reason, exactly. You knew this would be a handful.”
“Oh, shove it!” Ezra snapped back hatefully. “I would have loved to see you try to take her on.”
Suddenly, during their arguing, I heard another voice speak up; this one was distinctly femine.
“Oh, Jesus Christ boys,” the female spoke, and for some reason, her accent sounded familiar, yet I couldn’t place it. Her voice also held the same commanding tone as the male commanding officer. “Had I known that you both were going to be taking on the Valkyrie bitch, I would have arrived sooner to partake in the festivities.”
“Claire!” Their commander snapped at her. “Enough! Don’t mention that to the girl. She must discover.”
From what I gather from Claire, I could tell that she was average height for a woman. She also had lavender-pink hair that she kept in a tight bun held in place by various pins. Her eyes tracked my hazel ones, watching to see if I would make a break for it, or if I allow myself to get caught.
“I need this one for a moment,” Claire spoke to me, but looked directly at Akio, and wanted him to relinquish control from him to her. But all he did was scrutinize her motives, especially after our altercation “It’s fine.” She assured him. “I am more than capable of handling someone of her talents.”
“Okay,” Akio said, the heavy Japanese came out as he said it. “Don’t blame me when you lose her or have her kill you.”
All she did was give him a death stare with her eyes, not wanting to hear the excuses. Then, she focused on me.
“Don’t touch me.” I recoiled away from her the best my restrained self would allow. “I’ve had enough people trying to kill me.” I spoke with disgust and venom filled rage still fuming in me.
She reached out as I wiggled away and her hand clamped down on my elbow, and I could feel the pressure she was giving off. “I’m here to help you. All of you. Especially your girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend?” I said astounded when I should’ve been aghast. “Erin is my girlfriend. Kait’s just been my friend…” my eyes wandered, and she watched as I suddenly felt my heart skip three large beats, and then I forced down a gulp.
“Just your girlfriend?” She started playing with my head and my emotions. “Is that what you think?” She looked at Kait, and then looked back at me. “I could sense the way you go out of your way to protect her, how you two and nearly inseparable. Yes, you and Erin have that same attraction, but you and Kait---you two are on a whole other level.” Then her eyes hit mine like daggers in my soul. “Tell me you haven’t thought about it?”
“Thought about what?” I shot back, getting emotional about the subject. Was she getting to a point? Did she already have one? “Marrying Kait? Why?”
“You are blind. Lovestruck Olivia, but you’ll see. You’ve been there more times for her, just as many times as she has for you. But” She pushed me towards the Hum-V in which Kait was being placed in. “If you insist, I will have to show you.”
I snorted in response, not wanting to believe a word she was saying. But then she spoke up.
“Believe me when I say this Olivia,” She whispered to me. “You won’t believe it, but I am on your side. Trust me.”
Once we got near the Hum-V, Claire aided with getting me inside, I turned to face her and tried to be angry at her, but then what she hit me hard emotionally, that I flinched at the thought, and mentally pulled myself back.
“What did she do to get you riled up babe?” Kait asked as I tried to shuffle in the seat to get comfortable. Kait’s eyes watched me as I did, which only alluded to Claire’s point even more, and deep down, I was hurt. “Did she get inside your head too?”
“Yeah.” I muttered to her, like I did when was eight and had been punished by Carrie. “She got to me emotionally as well. She thinks that there is something between us, more than what you and I have now?”
“Do you believe her?” Kait questioned me as Claire got in the passenger side of the Hum-V and we started down the road. “Do you feel different around me?”
At that, I was truly speechless. Honestly, I couldn’t tell.
She looked at me and could sense that I was humiliated about my feelings. Or I was ashamed. Either way, I couldn’t bring myself to tell her. Since if Claire were getting inside my head, she was doing a superb job, but if she were right about me and Kaitlyn, that would make things truly complicated between her, Sam, and me.
“I…I” I couldn’t say it. I felt like if I did, I would emotionally break down and this was not a moment, where I could.
All I did instead was lean as best as I could up against her so I could get her warmth that she always held and radiated outward.
A little bit down the road, I had been awoken from a nap to see Kait fight her way out of the zip ties that encircled her wrists and were biting into her flesh. She worked her way silently and then nudged me so she could break me out of mine.
Once we were free, I kept my wrists behind me, just to keep up the idea that we were captives. And while I was racking my brain for ideas, Kait was already forming one.
I looked more closely, and saw that, at Claire’s hip was her stun gun, and in when I inched closer to the front view, I saw that she also had her service weapon in her lap, which told me, that she was ready for either situation.
I slid back into my place and watched as Kaitlyn rolled behind me and took my place where I was sitting, while I slid over and taken her spot
A little further down the road, Kait was just waiting to time her move, and as soon as we banked a corner, she forced the door open, and she bolted out the door, and I followed suit, landing squarely on her, without even trying to.
However, that stunt of her got their attention and the Hum-V that we had rolled out of, had suddenly turned around and came barreling back for the two of us; however, before I could think, I had been grabbed by Kait as we made a run for it seeing how far we could go before getting caught.
Claire had jumped out the vehicle by this point and continued to purse us on foot, with her comrade in tow.
“I can say this much,” Ezra said as he was right besides us, trying to stay coordinated with us. “You were hard to contain. Could be even harder now.”
“Piss off.” Kait spat, as she tried to use her legs to launch a kick towards him, but something else had prevented her.
I watched as Kait fell to the ground, withering in sheer agony from what she had been pumped with.
“You wasted your chance, Ezra.” Claire said as she walked up with the stun gun in full effect on Kait. “Tsk.”
She moved to me, and I tried to get away, but she once again reached for me and was able to stun me to keep me in check.
“You still don’t get it darling.” Claire said as she clicked in a pair of handcuffs on me. “Maybe you need more motivation.”
“Did you have to be so harsh?” Ezra asked Claire as we walked back.
She forced me off the ground and led me back to the Hum-V where she forced back in and once again drove down the road.
“Well, that was exciting,” Ezra remarked, laughing at my trial to get free. “Did you enjoy your moments of freedom? Because you’ll never get anymore from here.”
We both were handcuffed, and as I tried to evaluate mine, to see if I could break these, all I got met with was the resistance the strength they had as we were both held in place.
What Claire had said, bothered me. Again. Her words, they echoed mentally as I thought back to moment, she had pulled me aside and told me what she knew, or what she could see from us.
What could she see between me and Kait, that I could not? And, if she could see it, could Kait see it as well?
Did Kait feel it? Did she even want it?
Did she even want me?
“So now that we have them,” Ezra started to ask Claire. “Do you think that she will show up now as well?”
“Ezra!” She snapped in response. “All she asked us to do was get Kait. Nothing more. What we do to this little pixie and her lover beside her, is entirely up to us.” She turned and wickedly smiled at me. “So, just so you’re aware, we can break you bit by bit for whatever you know sweetheart. And in case you haven’t been keeping score, I can go round and round with the both of you all day. I can break you down till either you talk, or…till you die.”
“Well then,” Kait said with such determination and fire that I saw her eyes glow. “I want you to push me. I want you to see just how far you can go.”
“So, I’ve heard.” She sung with glee. “I can’t wait to have fun with you, breaking you in body and spirit.”
At the end of our ride, we finally drove through a long tunnel where the strobes of light flashed over us, until we made it to the other side to a military base. And when I glanced back at Claire, I noticed that she was looking ahead and out of the windshield, and she also had something else besides her service weapon and the stun gun on her.
As soon as we came to a stop, they quickly got out and came out to get us, however, neither Kait nor I were prepared for what they did next.
Claire threw a cloth-like bag over my head and forcefully yanked me out of the Hummer as I screamed for release while also struggling to break the handcuffs.
As I fought for my freedom, Claire forced me right by keep her strong firm grip on me. And the noise I was making was starting to bother Ezra to the point where I could faintly make out him pointing his own service weapon directly at my head; letting me know that if I didn’t stay quiet, he would have no regards for killing me in cold blood right here.
Right in front of Kaitlyn.
“Commander!” Claire yelled for her superior officer. “Where do you want these ladies?”
“Take them to the cells and prepare them both for interrogation.” Their commander yelled in reply.
We were yanked and forced to wherever these cells were, and without truly being able to see what was in front of me, fighting was pointless. I had been forced to accept my current fate, rather than fighting against it.
"Baby..." They called for me. "Baby. I'm coming. I'm coming for you...."
These were the last words I heard before being knocked unconscious.
