The underground 2

I crouch to the other side of the door frame to cover the same way as Frank did. This room is pretty small, about six meters wide and two meters deep. There is no place to hide and there are only a few wooden crates in the corner of the room and the vent we used to get inside of this room. This door frame has its door already opened so we can see inside without the need to open them. I can see the lockers which have lights in them, they are about five to six steps away from us. How to get past through all of these guards in inmate's clothing is a big issue we need to solve as fast as possible without anyone noticing. Suddenly the gunfire stops for a while and the guards scream commands: "Forward! Forward! Push them back!". It looks like guards are actually holding their positions for now. One of the guards is coming toward this room and Frank signals me to go back. As he enters he doesn't notice us and goes directly to the crates in the room. As he walks by Frank without noticing him, Frank leaps at his back covering the guard's mouth with his hand and killing him with a knife. He holds him as the guard struggles to free himself from his inevitable death. He slowly loses strength and Frank starts to take him to the ground. Guard's weapon falls to the ground and makes a loud noise.

We shut quiet in shock of that loud sound. One of the guards says: "Hey mate, everything alright?". We didn't hear what he sounds like so we cannot fake his voice. Frank takes the guard to the ground and at the same moment another guard walks inside of the room. He immediately sees Frank over the dead body of his fellow guard but he didn't notice me! I leap up and take the knife that Frank gave me. I grab his head, shut his mouth with my hand, and slice his throat with the knife in my right arm. I hold him tight to my body as he struggles to save himself the same way as the guard before did. However, there is no hope for him, as well for me all I have to do now is hold him tight and let him die in my hands. As he slowly bleeds all over my arms he starts to lose his strength, all I can see is his struggle and tears on his face. 'This is how I end?' Guard must have thought something like that. I can't see his eyes and I am glad for that. As he falls to the ground I slowly place him on the floor so that neither his body nor weapon will make any noise as his fellow guard did. This is the first man I have killed with a knife. Bloodstained my fingers. I look at my hands, shaking a little but I have to keep going, I cannot stop for something like this. They would do even worse things to other people.

As we solved our problem, we are trying to look inside the outpost main room. There are still six more guards as others went outside to join their comrades in the fight against inmates. This place is full of control panels and machines that are inside of the room. It is divided into two circles that make pathways with crossing in the middle where the commander is. Two of the guards are watching the cameras at the right side of the room, two are close to the entrance to the outpost guarding it. One more of the guards is crouching and it looks like he is repairing something in the control panel. As for the last one, that is doing something in front of the giant screen. I can see that his uniform is different. That may be the commander of this outpost, but I am just guessing, I don't see him well. The lockers are to the left between us, the guy that is repairing something and the commander. Frank signals me to move out and take out the guy that is repairing the control panel and he is moving toward the lockers. I am directly behind this man who I am about to stop from living anymore. Can I do it again? People always say that the first time is the worst. All criminals and killers I have met always told me the same thing. You will always remember the first human that you have killed, but others will become much easier to forget.

As I am close to him I try to figure out how to do it. I cannot simply cut him here. If guards will see blood or body later they may notice that something is going on. In MMA I know there was one move called rear-naked choke that I learned when I was younger and visiting the MMA gym. I leaped over my target and caught his neck in a choke. In this position, he is unable to scream and talk but he still can move. Because of that I jump over him and took him directly to the ground. He tries to punch me however, he cannot reach me. He tries to scream and shout but he is unable to. Later he tries to hit the ground to make some sound to alert others about what is happening but unfortunately, it is too late for him. He has no strength left in his body so that his punches are not heard by anyone except me. Slowly in a few seconds, I tighten my choke around his neck and he starts to suffocate. It took a little longer than I expected but it is done. I grab his body under his armpits and drag him back to the room with a vent and throw his body to the other two dead bodies.

What now? I don't know how long will his body stay unconscious and I cannot allow him to wake up and alert others about us. Another hard decision. Should I really kill him? How should I even do it? Someone defenseless in such a position that he cannot even beg for his own life. After a while of thinking I have decided to stop his life fast as possible. I am not sure if he will wake up once I hurt him or not. I place my knife on his throat from the back of his neck. I cover his mouth with my hand just in a case and I slice his neck open to end his life in the same place as those other two before. He didn't even move. Nothing happens and there is just a huge amount of blood coming from his body. I stay here for a while thinking about everything that just happened. I look at my hands full of blood once again and I no longer tremble. Is this all it takes to overcome killing someone? The first kill was something hard for me to do, something I may have done easier than some other people but I still hesitated. This time I only hesitated for a few seconds and my knife was already inside of his neck. No, no time to hesitate even more right now. I have to move. I need to cover Frank as soon as possible.

As I am about to leave the room Frank shows up and enters the room with the body of the commander I saw earlier. "He has pass card on him, he has to be some commander," Frank said quietly to not alert more guards. "Look if he has some keys in his pockets, we may need them." He added and I started to search. In his pocket, there is some steel key in his jacket. "Look there was some key!" I told Frank about my discovery. "That must be reserve key for the gates, gates are opened by automatic sensors but in case those fail they can be opened with these keys," Frank explains further as we just finished our search. There were two id cards to walk through gates and one reserve key. Thanks to this we may actually be able to cut off the lights if we find those-... "Flashlights, did you find them?" I ask Frank, he nods in to agree and shows at his pocket that has 3 lights in it.

As we filled the room with 4 bodies we suddenly hear more voices coming to the outpost. "I think they started to run away ha!" One guard talks with another one. "I think they will still come back, they are just getting more prepared!" The second guard adds to the conversation. Around five more guards are entering the outpost and we already try to move into the vent as fast as possible. "Hey, guys where is commander Johnson?" One of the soldiers asks and we have a problem if they find these bodies. It is two against eight, do we have a chance? Somehow looking at each other we have already decided. No running, we have to fight and destroy this outpost to let other inmates enter the deeper parts of the underground. I get one of the frag grenades in my hand and Frank takes one as well. We both releases their pins and wait for a second before throwing them. I throw it to the left side of the room and he threw his grenade to the right side of the room. "Wha-... Grenades!" One of the guards screams. "Take cover!"

As soon as they said those lines both of the grenades exploded making a huge noise, breaking all the displays, machines and shrapnels fly in every direction. As soon as I get back to normal from that sound I raise my weapon and go out of the door frame. I can see guards on the floor and in the entrance, there are two of them that are still standing. I shoot in their direction and before they even knew what is happening, they were already gone forever. Some of the guards that were on the ground stood up and Frank immediately started to fire at them before they could even raise their weapons from the ground. It took mere seconds and they were already all dead. We heard some shouts from the outside of the post. There must be more guards stationed outside and protecting the tunnel. They start to rush inside and we throw another grenade through the entrance to blow them up. Grenades explode and Frank throws another one to the left side of the tunnel that is closer to the sharp turn where all the inmates and dead bodies are. It destroyed the line of the guards covering that part and it signaled to the inmates that way may be clear.

Battlecry and screams of the inmates are heard and it is clear that they are coming forward to attack the guards once more. However, we must be already gone when they come here. We must keep our secret pathway for ourselves or our advance to the deeper parts of the prison will be slowed down too much. I run to the room. "Uncover the vent, I will block the entrance!" As he said I went straight for the cover of the vent. This one is much easier to open from the outside than the other one. As I already open it, Frank uses another grenade and set it to the entrance near the wall to make it collapse. As soon as he did it, he starts to run toward me and we jump down into the tunnel as fast as possible. We flee down the ladder all the way to the floor as Frank says: "Cover I used three of them and their grenades as well!" I covered myself and we tried to run as far away as we could in that short time. Screams halted for a little while before they started to scream again. Guards were killed, the outpost was destroyed and barricades were overrun. We are now inside of the tunnel and we are heading toward the next exit that must be somewhere deeper than this one. The second exit is probably close or even inside of the second outpost that is on our way. It is around fifty more meters to get there.
