The Full Moon
Hope eventually found a place in the woods away from the boarding house, but she thought wolfing out would be to big of a risk. She has been stuck in her human form for over a week now, and she has been stressed. After a while Hope had found stairs leading down to a cellar in the woods. She had gone down the stairs and entered the cellar. Once she entered she noticed chains and scratch marks. These observations made her think it was a werewolf transition space.
After a few minutes of searching the cellar she had decided that someone else was using it, so there was no way she could change down there. She was disappointed in this fact but decided to head back and see if their plan worked. Hope had taken a few detours so by the time she got back it was already dark. She wanted a place to shift without letting anyone know she is a werewolf or accidentally attacking someone innocent. She may have control over when she shifts, but it is somewhat difficult to control all her actions as a wolf.
When Hope got back to the boarding house Bonnie, Jeremy, Stefan, and Damon were nowhere to be seen. Looking around the boarding House Hope couldn't help but compare it to the Boarding school. It was the same and yet so different. It felt so lonely compared to what she was used to. The place she spent most of her life, it was hard for her to get used to it all. She wanted to see her family and make sure always and forever continues on, she wanted to truly experience it when everyone wasn't under threat. Yet, she couldn't help thinking about the people she has met and befriended at the Salvatore Boarding school.
She misses them and will continue too, since Hope decided she is going to New Orleans when she gets back to the future. She sighed, as she began heading to her room. The room that is supposed to make her feel at home but doesn't. Missing the spells cast and the moments shared with the people she cares about in this room. Thoughts like, "What if being stuck her is better for them.", Or, "Maybe I should end everything before it begins." Crossed her mind. She was going down a dark hole with no help back out. Out of everything she couldn't help thinking back to how tomorrow was a full moon and how different things would be from the last one she had experienced.
The Next day
Hope had been up for a few hours and didn't know what was going on. The others didn't trust her, and she was pretty sure Bonnie had told them what she had seen from whatever she saw. 'The only person that was telling me things hasn't come back and everyone else is busy with their own plan. What am I even supposed to do.' Hope thought as she got a call from an unknown number.
"Hope, I need your help." A voice Hope recognizes as Caroline's says.
"How did you get my number?" Hope asks. She didn't remember giving it to anyone but Stefan. Which would mean Stefan had managed to give Caroline her number, but not respond to her.
"Stefan, he gave it to me after he left the grill to ask you if I needed any help." Caroline replies.
"What do you need?"
"Can you come outside?" Caroline asks, but after a few moments of silence she says, "I am out here."
"I will be out in a second." Hope replies unsure of what Caroline wants. After a few minutes Hope gets outside and into the passenger seat of Caroline's car and asks, "What do you need my help with?"
"Well, remember what we talked about in the Grill last time." Caroline asks as she drives away from the Boarding house.
"About the Mystery werewolf." Hope says.
"Well tonight's the full moon, and I was wondering if you would help?" Caroline asks.
"Why me?" Hope asks curious as to why she didn't ask Bonnie or Elena.
"If Damon finds out he is going to kill him."
"Kill who?"
"My friend, Tyler." Caroline replies telling Hope the name of the mystery werewolf.
"Why?"
"I told him I am a vampire and now I am helping him." She says. Caroline was driving in the direction of the Mystic Grill quickly. After a few minutes Hope was told the situation, and they took a seat at a table to wait for Tyler to show.
After a waiting a while a guy with a duffel bag appeared and set it down in the seat in front of Caroline. Hope had assumed this was the newly turned werewolf. Caroline and Tyler greeted each other before he truly acknowledged Hope's presence here. "Who is she?" Tyler asks.
"Her name is Hope." Caroline responds quiet enough so no one can hear her besides for Tyler and Hope. "She was the one who told me more information on werewolves." Tyler looks like he was about to ask Hope a question but before he could Caroline asked, "What's wrong?"
Tyler looked over at me and decided to stay quiet about what was bothering him and asked what he wanted to. He asked Hope, "Are you like me?"
"I am a supernatural creature." Hope replies quietly worried about people listening in.
"But, are you like me?" Tyler asks once again already looking irritated because Hope was avoiding the question.
Hope really doesn't want to tell anyone she is a werewolf, so she replies, "No."
Caroline gave her a look and asked, "Why did you lie?" Tyler just looked over at Caroline confused. Hope wasn't expecting Caroline to keep track of whether she lies or not. Hope knew she should've expected this and been more careful but with Caroline she had let her guard down a bit. Caroline's actions had remained Hope of Lizzie and Josie.
"I'm not gonna transform." Hope replies trying not to key to many people in on her being a werewolf and a witch.
"So you are a werewolf?" Tyler says, asking for clarification.
"Yeah." Hope replied sighing at her fate. She really didn't feel like lying and had really just wanted to wolf out sooner or later.
"Wait, but you said you aren't going to transform." Tyler says curious as to how to not transform.
"I am curious too," Caroline says looking over at Hope. "Aren't you a witch?" She asks, Tyler just looks at her shocked.
"Could you keep it a secret?" Hope asks them.
"Why?" Tyler asks curious as to who he would tell.
"When a supernatural creature is more than one, a witch would consider it to break balance and consider it abomination." Hope explains.
"Really?" Caroline asks sounding sad about that fact.
"Doesn't that mean you are a werewolf that doesn't shift every full moon?" Tyler asks Hope.
"The first shift is necessary and there is no escaping that." Hope tells Tyler.
"But, you don't shift anymore?" Caroline asks Hope.
"I am also a witch, so I found a way for me to stop shifting." Hope tells them. She wasn't technically lying completely so it should change her heart rate.
"Could you help me not transform after this full moon?" Tyler asks, sounding desperate.
"Sorry, the way I found really only works with my bloodline." Hope replies. She knows she could help, but doesn't want to change the future. She remembers how Tyler had been mentioned a few times. He was her fathers first hybrid, she can't change something that big. She also didn't like Tyler enough to risk anything.
"How long did it take you to shift the first time?" Tyler asks. He had figure Hope had been a werewolf a while from the knowledge she holds.
"I had guidance, so it only took me a few minutes." Hope replied seeing no harm in telling him this.
"Who did you get guidance from?" Caroline asked.
"My dad." Hope said looking a little sad at the mentions of her father.
"Did something happen?" Tyler asked curious as to why she was making that expression.
"Tyler! Don't feel like you have to tell us." Caroline says trying not to pressure Hope.
"No worries." Hope said. "He passed away."
"I am sorry for your loss." Tyler says. No one speaks for a few minutes and it grows awkward after a while. "Speaking of guidance something happened." Tyler told Hope and Caroline.
"What happened?" Caroline asked Tyler sounding worried.
"This girl Mason knows stopped by the house. She said he never made it back to Florida. My mom's freaking out, and she was on the phone with your mom when I left." Tyler explained the situation that happened earlier.
"Who is Mason?" Hope asked Tyler.
"He's my uncle." Tyler told Hope. "He is like us."
Hope grew suspicious and glanced at Caroline. What Hope had observed from Caroline's facial features is that she already knows something. She was curious though as to why Caroline is hiding stuff from Tyler. Everything around her was new to her, so she didn't really know any of the relationship dynamics between people currently. They had been quiet to the point only they could hear their conversation up until Mason was brought up. Someone Hope had recognized as a younger looking Alaric Saltzman was trying to listen into their conversation without anyone noticing.
"We should go and talk about this somewhere more privately." Hope said, not wanting anyone to know she is also a werewolf. Both Tyler and Caroline agreed and started getting up from their spots. When Hope glanced at Alaric without him noticing while following behind Tyler, Caroline was behind Hope and had faced Alaric as she was walking out making it known she doesn't want him spying. Hope, Caroline, and Tyler exited the grill and got into Caroline's car.
After arriving at the Lockwood Cellar
Tyler got out of the car and went to the trunk to grab his duffel bag. They had parked in the woods near the place Hope had found a while ago that looked like a transition space. She had realized who was using it. She had speculated from the information she got on the car ride there that Mason had been using it when he was here and now that Mason is gone Tyler was going to use it. She also guessed Caroline was somehow involved with Mason's disappearance. Before Hope could get lost in thought Caroline said, "Well, maybe he just, like, stopped to go surf somewhere. You know, isn't that Mason's whole thing?"
Tyler responded by saying, "Maybe. This girl just seemed to think he would have called."
"There are a lot of possibilities." Hope told Tyler. This caused Tyler to just look at her silently asking her to elaborate. After a while of no response Caroline closed the car door.
"I'm sure he's ok." Caroline said.
"Yeah. Anyway... let's do this." Tyler told them. "Also Hope what did you mean?" He asked as they walked to the Cellar.
"I just meant that there are a lot of supernatural creatures in this world and if we don't ignore the human's anything is possible." Hope explained.
After walking for a couple more minutes they went down the stairs to the Cellar. Tyler set down his duffel bag and started setting up the chains. Hope and Caroline stood off to the sides watching him set up. Hope didn't know what she was supposed to do and why Caroline had decided to bring her along. Caroline had other thoughts on her mind that had made her worried if Tyler found out what happened to Mason.
After a few minutes of setting up the chains Caroline decided by breaking the silence by jokingly saying, "Tell me you brought the instruction manual.
"Tell me you brought the wolfs bane." Tyler retorted.
"Yes. Um, big an easy herb to find. But this is it." Caroline said as she walked over to her bag. "Actually Hope, does Wolfs bane affect you as well, with you being a half werewolf?" She asked curiously.
"It doesn't affect me as badly as other werewolves." Hope replied as Tyler walked over to touch the Wolfs bane getting burned by it in the process.
They looked at each other for a few seconds before Tyler said, "I have water bottles in my bag. We can mix it in there." Caroline had agreed and went to get the water and mix it. Hope just watched the two and felt like a third wheel and honestly was starting to want to leave. "The guy at the hardware store said this setup was rated up to 5,000 pounds." Tyler informed them as he went back to setting up the chains.
"Will that be strong enough to hold you?" Hope asked. She knew werewolves were strong, but she didn't see them chained up usually.
"I have no idea." Tyler replied.
After a while Caroline spoke up after watching Tyler double check the chains. She asked how he was looking worried about the full moon knowing what a werewolf bite will do to her.
"Caroline if you need to go I can take over." Hope offered Caroline. Tyler glanced over with a confused look before getting back to making sure everything is okay.
"Still human." Tyler said informing them of how he was before he started taking off his shirt.
Hope was used to people undressing occasionally from other werewolves, she was used to it. Caroline panicked though and wasn't expecting Tyler to do that.
"Oh, my god. You're not gonna get naked, are you?" She asked as she looked away.
"It's elastic." He told her. "I mean, what should I wear? I don't think it's like the Hulk where I get to keep my pants." Hope couldn't help but snort at this. She wasn't expecting him to say that, but he couldn't disagree with what he said. Caroline still looked away though. Both Caroline and Tyler looked over at Hope though when her phone started ringing. The phone she had gotten after realizing she was in the past is new, and she couldn't understand just how many people got her number.
"I'll be right back." Hope said as she walked off to answer the phone. "Hello?" She said after answering the phone.
"Hey Hope, Stefan gave me your number." A female voice said sounding a little panicked. "Its Elena."
Hope had wondered who else Stefan had given her number too, but decided to ask Elena a different question, "Why did you call?"
"Elijah's been invited into my house." Elena told her. "He asked me to invite you over."
"Why does he want me there?" Hope asks, but she doesn't get a response only whispers on the other end of the line. "I'll be there soon." Hope tells Elena before hanging up. She really didn't want to leave Caroline alone but for some reason Elijah wanted to see her.
After Hope got to Elena's house
Hope had run as fast as she could after messaging Caroline that she had to go and to call her if anything goes wrong. Hope had made it Elena's house but was a bit out of breath from the distance ran. She had used spells to up her werewolf speed and anything to amplify her speed, so she could get there faster which had worked, but left her out of breath. Before Hope even got the chance to knock on the door Elena had opened it. Elena had dragged Hope upstairs where they saw Elijah sitting near Elena's window in her bedroom.
"Why did you want to see me?" Hope asked Elijah.
"You are a witch, are you not?" Elijah immediately asked even though he already knew the answer.
"Yeah." Hope replied.
"I would like your help with something." He told Hope as he glanced at Elena.
"What is it?" Hope asked confused on how she managed this.
"I need to keep Elena safe and draw Klaus out." Elijah told Hope. Hope felt weird with the way Elijah called him since whenever she heard her uncle mention him, he always called her dad Nicklaus. However she couldn't get used to calling him by name either.
"Shouldn't you already have a witch on your side?" Hope inquired.
"I do, but they don't seem to be as strong as you. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep you around, an unknown stranger." Elijah said. Hope was shocked he was able to tell she was powerful just from that.
"Why do you really need me?" Hope asked. It was her uncle but she felt something was off.
"I intend to kill Klaus and for that I need help." He explained. "You seem to have two powerful witches helping you. One from somewhere unknown and a Bennett witch."
Hope couldn't process what he said after hearing how he wants to kill her dad. She couldn't control her expression or magic currently. Her magic had been a little out of it after seeing her uncle temporarily die. Watching him get impaled by a stake had brought up old trauma. Now hearing how he wants to kill his own brother, her dad it, she knows they had a few rough patches here and there but to actually kill one another and plan it. She couldn't help thinking of always and forever and how this would betray that.
The objects around the room began to shake slightly as she went deeper into though about her family and everything she thought she caused. Elijah had found Hope's actions peculiar at this point. He had noticed a few objects shaking a very small amount when he was staked, but now it seemed to be on a bigger scale. Hope couldn't seem to calm down. The thought of seeing her dad again was already a lot to handle, but trying to kill him after reuniting with him, it was too much. Lizzie had taught her ways to deal with her magic when it was like this, but she couldn't because she would have to explain. Explaining was impossible not even a possibility.
"I don't think I will be able to help you." Hope said as she tried to hold back tears she looked towards the floor.
"Why not?" Elijah asked genuinely curious about why she said no.
"I have to go to Georgia." Hope told them after calming herself down after a while. They both just looked at her confused.
"Georgia?" Elena asked. "What's in Georgia?"
"What I thought about you being powerful was indeed correct." Elijah muttered trying to figure out why he felt connected to Hope. "Have we met before?" He asked Hope.
"No." Hope said. During this time Elijah had a proper chance to study her features and something about her eyes had reminded him of someone.
"What do you plan to do in Georgia, Hope?" Elijah asked.
"When I got here I had two goals and I have made very little progress since getting involved. Besides, you saw that little outburst there I need to practice control." Hope told them attempting to justify her reasoning.
"What if I could help you with your goals." Elijah told Hope. Something unexpected happened when he said this though, the mirror in Elena's room cracked.
This shocked both Elijah and Elena as to why Hope's magic was acting like this. The reason this was happening though was because of how determined Elijah seemed to be to kill Klaus. She didn't know what had happened to make their relationship like this in the past. Her only guess was that it had to do with the daggers that worked on her aunts and uncles.
"It is not only that." Hope said.
"Then what is it?" Elena asked.
"I just really shouldn't get involved. I shouldn't have let curiosity win me over when I wanted to go find you." Hope explained as she glanced over at Elena, before walking out. Elijah had a feeling there was something more to it, but decided to disregard that feeling for now and focus on negotiations.
After everything that has happened since her being there and how much Hope has been involved she decided to leave. She would first go to Georgia to see what is happening with Triad and if that doesn't work New Orleans to see if she can find anything useful to either destroy Malivore or get her back to the time she is supposed to be in.
In the present
Josie and Lizzie had made it to New Orleans and this gave them the time to discuss Josie's recent use of black magic. They had made it to the place Josie had met with Freya last time. They had asked around once they got there. Apparently Freya, Keelin, and their son Nik had left the state for a week to see if they could find anything about Malivore from other covens they are close too.
This situation was not ideal for the twins. They didn't know how to contact Freya and Freya was the only lead they had for finding Hope. They had tried everything at the school and had done research outside of the school. They had found nothing so far the only option left was the spell Professor Vardemus told them about. They tried a few more spells during the stops the bus made, but they still came up empty-handed. So there they were sitting in Rousseau's after several days of trying to find Hope.
