Temple of Yerbuk

We climbed down from the jet, our legs immersed in the soft, warm desert sand as we walked in the sand sea that was decorated with white sand covering the surface that looked like snow on the desert. The view is breathtaking, I always dreamed of traveling around the world, I fetch some of the warm sand in my hand playing with it as we walked, as the warm breeze play with our hair.

We stopped upon reaching a big stone, carved into a ball with different signs, and language and element written on it, making the stone look somehow important. The prince stand there touching the stone for some time and then he pushes some piece of the stone while murmuring something under his breath.

Making the whole place trembles, shakes making us take steps backward. The image in front of us gives me chills. In front of us is a huge template rising from beneath the sand and now sitting firmly on the surface.

It looks like it's made out of limestone, pebbles, and some other things I couldn't know of. It has many carvings and ancient signs and drawings all around it, similar to the stone, the prince pressed a minute ago.

The prince walk towards the temple with his guards following him, but I was glued on my spot with Luiz by my side. There's no way I'm going inside. I'll wait for them here.

The prince stopped when he realized I'm not walking.

"Either you walk on your own or I make you."

His bossy, heartless voice called making me automatically start walking.

We stepped inside the temple through the dark door with two guards at the front, the prince then me holding Mimi in my arms and Luiz behind him. And the two guards at our back. Leaving the pilot guarding the jet alone. I wish I was in his position, I would sleep in there or watch the beautiful desert.

I gulped hard, my body shaking a bit. Are we seriously going in there? It looks creepy.

We are going in there. It seems like none of them mind. Well, I do.

There is no lights. No windows. Just one big door. This is the type of place you get buried alive or something kills you in there.

I was turning my head here and there my eyes wandering at the place and Luiz seem to understand I was scared.

"Hey, I'm here with you. Okay."

He assured and I feel a bit safe.

The place is pitch black with no sign of windows for light to penetrate in. The prince wiggled his hand and the place was lit with balls of fire in the mouth of some kind of creature I've never seen before or know my entire life. its has big head and it's mouth was wide open with big sharp fangs caging the light. There were many of the like of creature's carved face, all over the place decorating the entire place, adding to it's creepiness.

We continued walking in silence with only the sound of our steps on the cement floor being heard. Making it more and more spooky. I realized that the eeriness of the temple is reflected in its architecture. The wall was high with long pillars and is was carved in some language, signs, and drawing that only the demons can read. I think the same as the one outside of it.

The temple is broadly divided into four sections or chambers, we walked in absolute silence making it a more eerie and were welcomed not by the sound of bells, isn't that what is heard in a temple? This one here had the loud scream of children and women filling my ears.

"Err… djinns!"

Murmuring under breath, the loud shrill in my head is making it spin painfully. I clamp my head and cover my ears with both my hands making the prince turn and glance at me. And Luiz comes closer and grabs my hand.

"I'm fine, I can walk on my own."

I tried to release myself but he didn't budge. He just smiled back at me giving me I'm here for you, kindof look.

Arrrgh I'm not the five-year-old he still knows. Can't he give me some space? But it seems he didn't bother at all.

We continue walking with the prince glancing at me every now and then, to see if his gem is all right. I guess that's what he only cares about, this stupid thing that decide to melt in me. Urgh. I rolled my eyes, is not that I'm gonna disappear or something.

The first two chambers have idols of what seems like their Lords and princes, knights, and worriors carved beautifully or should I say spine-chilling on the wall.

We came out through a door and crossed a verandah to reach the third chamber, fear got a hold on me as I felt a very strong presence of negative energy around me … as if someone was following us, me in particular. I heard creepy sounds come and pass. making me turn my head swiftly to see who's there. Nothing, there's just us walking in pack going to I don't know where.

On reaching the third chamber, I was taken aback. I saw shadows of some creatures banging their heads on the pillars, and some poured hot water over themselves without feeling any pain. The sight was enough to give me goosebumps all over my body.

I do regret coming here, though it wasn't my choice in the first place. But this is damn scary. The brief twenty minutes, rather than 1200 seconds that we spent inside. Yes, every second counts here, is one hell of a disturbing experience of my life, besides the ghost, I saw in the mirror, and the tomb, and the forest and the torture room. Well my life is now a living hell.

"Did you see that?"

I asked Luiz that's was still holding on to my hand.

"See what?"

Luiz furrowed his brow, he paused totally confused. He looks like he have no idea of what I'm talking about.

"There is nothing here but us Nyla, what did you see?"

He finished off no idea of what is saw if he didn't see it? Why am I seeing them? Are they invincible?

"There ... there are some creatures over there punishing themselves. Don't tell me you didn't see them?"

I point out with my finger and tried to explain to him but he shakes his head clueless.

"They are sinners of the past, punishing themselves in order to get purified."

Mimi's soft voice chipped in explaining to me,she was in Luiz other hand all this while holding her like a hand bag. I don't know when he likes cat.

"Only the djinns can see or hear them- "

Mimi continued explaining but I paused her, taking back her by words, "only the djinns." How am I able to see them?

"But I'm not a djinn."

She looked at me closely thinking how that happened and then spoke.

"It must be because of the prince's powers."

"Huh, I see."

I mumbled.

"Will you both keep quiet and walk."

The prince sounds annoyed well that's how he is. Always angry. "Will you both keep quiet and walk" I mimick him with just moving my lips without sound and rolling my eyes.

I'm getting plenty of this power I don't like. First I can heal, now I can see what djinns are supposed to see. Only god knows what I can do more if this thing is not out of me.

We continue walking quietly as he ordered. I saw a flash of light in my eyes and felt an energy in me dragging my legs automatically from the crown and towards a wall.

There was a huge concrete carved book opened and was held by carved hands. near the wall and I see the signs on the page move and change shape and position and turn into English letters and I read out loud.

"In order to get what you seek for. Follow the lights."

What is that supposed to mean?Immediately I finished reading, the room went dark; all these fire ballz the prince lit before were gone. Blinding everyone. After seconds of darkness, a blue light appeared flying in the air, and it started moving slowly, waiting for us to catch on. Interesting.

"Follow the lights"

The prince ordered, making me flinch, placing my hands on my chest. Ohh God, this demon man will be the end of me.

I turned my head to him, I don't know when they all followed me to the book, listening to what I was reading.

He walked to the light and we followed him with the blue light leading the way. We followed it every corner and angle it went. It went in a maze, I was counting the corner we take in order to find our way back, but lose counting. Is this light really taking us to what we come for, or trying to lure us into a trap?

After countless of turn we stop at a huge wall, with some carving on it. They opened a space for me to come forward and read.

"Why me?"

I pinched my nose, can they stop giving me the stares they are creeping me out.

"Because you stole the power that was mine."

Came the prince's stern voice, grabbing my arm and pushing me forward.

"Now read."
