The Arrival

Liz approached the door. She knocked twice then stepped back with Hunter. They both waited for the door to open.

A man answered the door. He stood about 6 feet tall, big build, bald. He didn't seem like the type of person to call about something that's spooked him a little. Slowly Hunter took his glasses off and reached into inside blazer pocket.

"Hello sir, my name is H and this is L." Hunter started as he pulled out his ID badge and showed it to the man. "We got a call about witnessing a strange creature?" He continued as he placed his ID back into his inside blazer pocket.

The man immediately slammed his door shut as he stepped outside his door. Hunter glared to the door then to the man. Something seemed off.

"Have we come at a bad time sir?" Liz asked politely.

"NO!" He yelled suddenly. "No... just... my family don't know about this and I don't want them to find out..." He added as he looked to the floor.

"Understandable sir, but you must tell us what you saw." Liz pushed as she took a step towards the man.

"I rolled over in bed, then froze as I saw something distinctly not human smile at me through my window." He said as the fear showed in his expression. "My heart just about stopped when I noticed it was a reflection..."

Hunter's eyes widened in shock. Liz noted his exact words down into a note pad. The man inhaled sharply.

"Just please find it! I don't want it harming my family!" He panicked.

Hunter turned his back to think about if this subject was known to the facility. Liz continued to talk to the man and gather as much information on the creature that she possibly could.

Then it clicked, Test-Subject-999 discovered by Dr K Lawless. It was his case study...

"L... we don't need to torment this man anymore with our nonsense." Hunter said with his back to Liz and the man.

Hunter quickly turns around and storms towards them as he presses the button at the side of the glasses. Then, as Hunter stopped the man's body slumped to the floor. Hunter quickly removed his glasses and headed towards the car. Liz stood and stared at the man in shock.

"What the fuck Hunter?!" Liz screamed as she quickly turned to Hunter's direction. "He didn't deserve that! Think about that man's dignity!" She continued.

"He'll have a slight headache when he wakes but he'll live." Hunter smirked as he climbed into the drivers seat.

Liz sighed and shook her head as she headed towards the car. As she climbed into the car Hunter was holding the wheel tightly. He looked worried... anxious.

"What's the big deal on this subject?" Liz asked as she placed her seatbelt across her chest.

Hunter just shook his head and turned the ignition on.

Liz and Hunter arrived back at the facility. As they entered the main lobby Harold Wolfe and Dr P Carlisle were waiting with two members of armed security officers. Hunter looked at them up and down as he approached them.

"We have an urgent meeting. You need to come with us Carlisle." Harold said as he headed over to the security check area.

Hunter looked back to Liz then looked to his father. He then looked over to Wolfe and put his hands in his pockets. Slowly he wandered in Wolfe's direction.

They arrived at the meeting room. Kye and Dr K Lawless were stood waiting. Harold closed the door after Dr P Carlisle entered. The room was filled with nothing but silence. Harold and Dr P Carlisle stood at the front of the meeting room before Hunter, K Lawless and Kye.

"It has been decided that Hunter Carlisle will be returning as investigation lead." Wolfe said as he folded his arms.

Hunter's jaw dropped and Dr Lawless was far from impressed about this decision. Dr Lawless took over Hunter due to losing his mother to Safety Protocol Breach during investigation and containment of Test Subject-265. But even when Hunter did the investigations and containment procedures, he was always great at it.

"You've got to be shitting me?" Dr Lawless growled as he narrowed his eyes.

"It was Harold's decision to bring him back. I'm still very much against it." Paul interrupted as he sat down on the wooden desk behind him.

Hunter pulled a chair from the meeting table and sat down. He was still overwhelmed with the decision as he felt he can no longer do it anymore. After his mother passed it's something he has tried to avoid.

"WHY?!" Dr Lawless yelled as he slammed him hand down upon the meeting table.

Harold sighed then sat next to Paul on the wooden desk behind them.

"The statistics show performance of the whole squad there on the mission at the time..." Harold started. "Yours was almost 0% compared to Hunter. Hunter gets 90%." He continued with a smirk on his face.

Lawless stormed towards Wolfe, he was enraged. As his feet stopped before Wolfe, he looked him up and down.

"You're speaking bull, if I was so bad you wouldn't have hired me to be involved in the role." Dr Lawless snarled as his face came close to Wolfe's.

Dr Lawless quickly turned and headed out towards the door. As he grabbed the handle he turned slightly towards Hunter.

"Good luck Carlisle. You're gonna need it." He growled as he pulled open the door.
