'A tender reunion indeed.'
Looking from them to the chest board. With every move things begin to move towards the master's favor. Whatever the human wanted was beginning to slip from his grasp, and it can be seen with the jagged strides. The calm demeanor he held was fading, the desperation dripping from his fingertips.
'What to do… what to do… this fool is losing just as he did last time. Wait? What is she doing?'
Marie who through all this has gone from her frozen state to standing behind him, eyes glued to the board in thought. Before speaking up, pointing at the board.
"Excuse me, are you going by traditional or older rules?" Looking up from the board Deianira eyes her for a second before shrugging his shoulders.
'Is there a difference child? Chess be chess the king is all that needs to be conquered?'
"But there are so many ways to get to the King, either complex or simple is up to the person your playing… and to be honest with you Mr. Manchester you really suck at the game…"
"Why thank you Marie like I needed the sarcasm…"
"You're welcome…" Without another word she picks up a piece, moving it over before standing up straight with her arms folded. "Check."
'WHAT! HOW?'
"Like I said you suck at this game." Marie shrugs, motioning for Jack to move from the chair. Taking a seat, she leans back and waits. "Your turn."
With that the game begun in a whole new speed, with every movement Marie countered until my old master's anger boiled over.
'HOW IN ALL THE VOID DO I LOSE TO A HUMAN GIRL!!!' He roars as Marie shrugs, moving to knock his king forward.
"Look dude, don't need to get you panties in a wad. There was literally nothing you could have done different. I've been reading non-stop chess books for the last four hours and I just want to go home."
Standing up from the seat, she dusts off her jeans and holds her hand out.
"Maybe next time, don't use my town as your personal pieces." Taking his hand, she pulls him up slightly. "And don't ever hurt my girlfriend…"
That causes me to start laughing, falling to one side as my old master's face turns to me.
'And why are you laughing?'
Taking a deep breath, I shake my head and stagger a bit. Olive has her hand over her mouth a small smile playing behind it as she shakes her head.
"Nothing, nothing Deianira. Just something funny popped in my head is all." With a wave of his robes the board and chairs disappear a sour look still on his face as he reluctantly motions for everyone to follow.
