What Did He Do?

"Are you scared?" Sinclair only blinked and watched the friend's reaction. One look was all it took for Sinclair to know that Ainsley was terrified. How good would it be if Ainsley accepted the matter readily and did not change at all? It's just that… the degree of wishful thinking he had was too high. How could a human not—?

"Shit, that woman earlier really teleported, didn't she?! And that claw! That was real, too!" Ainsley gasped and wheezed like a child told that superheroes did exist. A familiar wide grin spread all over his face. "Dude! Dude! Can you do that, too?! Are you like those villain monsters on TV—the ones that transform and turn into huge beasts destroying cities and stuff? Awesome!"

In the end, it was Sinclair who was more in denial of what he was seeing. Tch, he shouldn't have expected a normal reaction from his idiot. He then scooted on his spot to face and frown at the other man. "Are you really reacting like this? As much as I like that you're not scared, this… Ainsley, this isn't normal. Why did I suddenly become a villain monster?"

As if knowing the frown on Sinclair's face, Ainsley only laughed out as he went to heavily pat on his friend's shoulder. "Whahaha! Why? Do you not think that would fit you more? You're evil in public, Mr. King! Of course, you're a villain monster!"

"Villain monster?" That was not all that Sinclair caught, but…

Sinclair only lifted a brow before sighing and shaking his head. He only wore his shirt again before crawling to his part of the bed, where Ainsley was sitting. Actually, it was Ainsley's side of the floor bed, but he just wanted to have a reason to kick Ainsley.

"I'm sleeping."

At the cover of the white shirt, the moonlight dragon features receded. Even if Sinclair would rather have this than ending his friendship with Ainsley, he was still a bit sulking.

If only he knew Ainsley would react like this, he wouldn't have hidden it for a very long time. Now, he was wondering how the other would react if he mentioned the dragon's heart. Then again, that was for another day. He would sleep first.

Ainsley rubbed the side of his bottom, where Sinclair kicked him. He then slapped the other's butt before scooting to the other side of the bed. He lied down on his side and didn't spread out like usual. Actually, his reaction was for show.

How could a normal human not be scared of what he had just seen? His earlier reaction to that woman should have given Sinclair a hint of how Ainsley truly felt. The unknown was always very scary to people, and not everyone could get to make peace with the changes.

After all, all he knew was that the only difference between him and Sinclair was the kind of family they were born in. Right now, Sinclair just showed him that they were more different from that: one was human, while the other was… not even close.

Then again, he chose not to show it… because he knew what would happen next. Sinclair would be forced to stop meeting him… perhaps to protect himself and the other members of his species. Either that or his family might order him to do it. If Ainsley could freely lose Sinclair, then what was their friendship for?

His body began to shake, but he kept on moving to disguise it. The sight of seeing his friend turn into something else was indeed frightening. He was innately having the thoughts that Sinclair might eat him; the friend looked like a monster after all. It's just that… that was Sinclair. He knew that Sinclair would never harm him too badly.

That led him to the night before he woke up fully. If this was a thing, then… his friend must have done something to him that night. He knew very well, as he lied on that asphalt road, that he would never survive. He even cried and called out Sinclair's name one last time… as if apologizing for leaving his friend alone. He was well aware that even if Sinclair had a family, all he had was Ainsley. As for Ainsley, it was undeniably the same.

At this thought, Ainsley's eyes quivered. Recalling the events that happened after that night made him shake stronger. 'Is this why that woman showed up? Is this why he was suddenly asked to come home? Did I… cause trouble for Sinco? Dammit, what did I do?'

Realizing that his body had exhibited something that shouldn't happen to a normal human, Ainsley figured that Sinclair was indeed with him that night. He snuck a look at Sinclair's back, his eyes softening. 'What did he do?'

Six in the morning came, and Sinclair's phone rang for his morning alarm. How could that rascal stand such a very obnoxious noise? Ainsley didn't bother with how he was lying down and just growled. "Kill that thing. How annoying…"

"Reminds you of yourself?"

"I'm not annoying," Ainsley murmured as he pushed his face against whatever was in front of him. The warmth was very comfortable, and the texture was so smooth and firm. The more he felt it, the more he was being reminded of that back he touched that night. No, not that fish back that was filled with disgusting scales.

At the thought, he opened his eyes, and what welcomed him was a rather flawless chest and neck. He glared at it even if he knew that it was Sinclair. There was no need to get shy because he was already mad. The only problem was that why he was facing this? If he was a girl, then he could fall asleep on this again…

Wait, no. He didn't have to be a girl to do things. After all, he needed to punish Sinclair on the surface, for lying to him. As for how he truly felt about it, it was already useless to think of it. Even if Sinclair was a fish-human hybrid, it was still his rascal.

"Since you're awake now, I should get going." Sinclair felt strange that the morning after was exactly how things would be if he decided not to tell Ainsley. For now, he should deal with the company first, so he wouldn't be disturbed when he came back home to their Snowy Moon Cove.

It's just that… Ainsley grasped at his arm and refused to let him go. Before he could ask, the idiot grinned mischievously at him.

"So flawless… it would a shame if…"
