Tardy

Hastily arranging my office, I take up my phone and dial Dozzy's number with it.

He picks on the second ring.

"Are you calling to resign?" He chuckles at his question. "Mr Mar will be ecstatic to hear that."

At the mention of the insufferable male's name, I balled my fist in anger. My jaw ticking.

Despite how angry I am at Mr Mar, I can't take out my frustrations on Dozzy. He's after all my crush's brother.

I don't need anything to jeopardize the relationship I have with Bin. I might not have a shot at dating him, but that didn't make me not hope for a change of some sort.

"Far from that. Are you still in the office?"

Through packing my workbag, I walk out of the office, and into a deserted hall.

No sound whatsoever can be heard. Aside from sound at the other end of the line, there's practically nothing.

"Why should I still be at the office by this time? Did you by chance forget anything important in there?"

He's gone?

"I might have forgotten myself here." I sigh.

I must have been too engrossed in the punishment I was given to notice anything amiss until now.

Had I paid little attention to my surroundings, I wouldn't have been in this predicament now. If anything, I would have been in my house soaking in a bath.

"What? You're still at the office? What are you still doing there?"

I hear a little shuffling at the other end of the call.

"Why didn't you inform me when you were leaving?" I walk towards the elevator. Pressing it open, I enter it before I press the button for the first floor.

"I was sent on an errand by Mr Mar. I didn't leave directly." He sighs. "I know I should have checked on you, but I thought you might have left.

I apologize for not checking out for you. Truly sorry about that."

Hearing how concerned he is about me might make a person think he's far older than me, not knowing am older than his elder brother.

"You don't have to sound sorry, Doz. I am already on my way home, you don't have to worry about me at all."

"Are you sure? I can come to check on you if it works for you. " He offered.

"No, don't bother about that. I'm already on my way home. I'll give you a call when I reach home. " I disconnect the call when the door dinged.

Exiting the car, I came face to face with an angry-looking Mar.

"Well, well. What do we have here?" He gives me a suspicious look. His eyes lock on the bag I have in my hands.

"Good evening sir." I greet with a clenched fist. My tongue cleft to the roof of my mouth at my use of the title.

Someone like him doesn't deserve to be called a boss at all.

Sir, my foot!

He raised a brow. His mouth lifting to the side as if he's smirking.

"What are you still doing here by this time?" He checks his wristwatch. "It's way past the time you're made to leave."

"I overworked. Never knew it was late until I checked the time." I look straight into his eyes. My eyes get blurry the more I look into his.

"You overworked? Are you trying to say I overworked you?" He put his two hands into his pockets. His eyes narrowed squarely at me. His mouth curved in a dark frown.

"That might be true, but all am I saying is I was busy working, I never noticed the time until a few minutes ago."

Had I not checked the time, I highly doubt I would have known it until midnight. I might have worked past midnight without knowing.

"You're trying to say you're too serious with your work, you never noticed the time?" He took a step toward me. His eyes were still on me. The tight lines on his mouth never eased a bit.

Seeing him approach made me take more steps back as I deeply swallowed.

"This is Bin's boyfriend's company, If I don't work hard here, where else should I do so? "

Had it been another place that has a boss like Mar., I would have resigned the second after meeting him.

I wouldn't have lasted for a month, not even close to it.

"I see." Closer to me, he gave me a long look.

My Adam's apple bubbling up and down in fright as I watch him. My mouth suddenly dry, and my throat parched.

My heart beating super fast. My palms got sweaty as he lowers his face closer to mine until we were just a hair breathe apart.

"I think you need to be on your way. Don't forget, you're to come to work earlier." He walks past me, and towards the elevator.

Watching him leave,

I sighed in frustration. Not knowing why, am even frustrated.

*

"Am back." I lock my door behind me. Dropping my bag on the table, I proceeded to remove my socks.

My ties follow next.

"Better for you. Next time, learn to bring an alarm clock to work." Chuckling to himself, Dozzy disconnects the call.

"Home sweet home." I sighed. Slumping on the cushion close to me, I gave in to the tiredness, without bothering to take the bath I promised my aching body.

I guess that can wait until later at night.

*

I hastily rose from the cushion am still lying on. Guess I never bothered to wake up to take a bath.

I must have seriously been tried.

Checking the time made me screech!

Eight o'clock?

What am I still doing at home by this time?

I check my phone, and that's when I saw the Twenty missed calls from Dozzy.

What?

I hurriedly run into the room. Brought out a new set of clothes to wear, and proceeded to dress up without bothering for a bath.

I can't afford to be later than necessary.
