Test! Test! Test! The thought pounded through her head. It had now been a couple months since she had been reborn, and it was testing day. She was a goddess in training, and she had a test. Fudging heck! She thought. She would fail. She felt it deep in her bones, no scratch that, her soul. It was something that she was positive about. She was scared to death. She flew up to the test sight, scared as hell, but she managed to calm herself down. The first test was for her to fly as fast as she could through some rings. She did well, but then they lengthened it. She flew fast as the wind until the last ten. Too much energy had been used. She slowed down to the pace of a turtle. Still, she barely made it. Then they lengthened it. Again. She felt doom surrounding her. She got half way before she gave up. She just made a root and ran as fast as she could along it. She knew it most likely wouldn't count, but it was the best she could do. Then came running. She ran fast, faster than she knew she could. She ran to the endless road and back, only slightly breathless. She didn't realize she could do that out of pure fear. That might come in handy in battle, but not in tests. Then they were doing root growth. By now she could easily make it to the top, but she wasn't sure if she could make it, she was more tired that she'd ever been her life. The test seemed to be going quicker than she thought. She knew that the last two she had been out of focus, probably because it wasn't her main ability. Now she felt super focused. She saw the top leaf on every tree, she paid more attention to the instructions.
"Ok, so you're going to grow a root to the endless road and back, then run back, this time you will race. All three of you will race. Last person will get an F no matter what." The instructor aka Arcus explained.
She was terrified, but calm. She knew that she would get last. She felt the defeat deep within her. She could smell the sweat on the others. But they looked confident. Their faces beamed with joy, they most likely knew that she would get last. She felt ready to give up. She heard the buzzer, and she started to grow her root. The other two grew faster than hers, but she knew that she couldn't afford to lose. Now that she was in the race she had an attitude change. She knew that Violet was a slow runner, so she would have a slight advantage. But she had slow root growth, so it would be tight. A few minutes after they started, she started. She ran as fast as she could in her tired state down that root. She had made it as thick as possible. The other two had made theirs thin, easier to grow, but harder to run on. She saw the fastest and overall best fall off her root, this meant she'd have to start from the very beginning. Violet ran just ahead of her, but she still ran just slightly slower than her. She felt the urge to slow down, but she couldn't. She ran, and as she did that, the strong wind seemed to blow her back. It didn't seem to affect anybody else. The person who had been knocked off was already ahead of the two. The wind seemed to not like her. Or was it that she was so weak that this wind actually affected her. She tried to shovel that thought out of her mind. She ran and ran. She saw the finish line just up ahead of her. Violet was still slightly ahead of her. She used the last remaining bit of her energy and pushed ahead just in time.
"I didn't think you'd get the F Violet, otherwise you would've gotten an A+!" She heard Arcum whisper to Violet.
When she was handed her paper she almost cried. It was listed as an F for everything. Well except for the run which was a B-, and it was written down because of the epic comeback. Seriously. Those were the words. Written down there it said B- For the epic comeback in Arcum's handwriting And she got an overall F, so she failed. Maybe F was for fine?
"And remember older sis, F is for failure, try better next time." Arcum told her loudly as she got her sheet.
