Chapter 6: THE REPORTS

Gangola's Point of View

"What's going on? I heard one of the dragons got shot."I come inside the main hall with a bottle of a healing potion that is green in color. I can see the other immortals with the spy squad. I notice the injured dragon with dark red blood coming out of a shot wound on his leg. The other dragon is trying to stop the bleeding with a cloth.

"Step aside for a moment." I say before chanting a spell that stops the bleeding. I dig my hand into the wound to remove the bullet.

"Oh my!" I say out loud because I am shocked at the bullet I am observing in my fingers right now. It has a sharp slightly curved point with tiny spikes on the body. "What?" Theux asks with his pupils blue in colour showing worry.

"This bullet is not a normal gun bullet; it is filled with gifted magic. It has been draining the life source of this dragon. This is very dangerous for any gifted being. It stopped you from healing naturally from the wound, but now that I have removed it, you will get better.

"Oh my goodness!" Reelora says with a very frightened look.

"I just need to add this potion to remove any additional effects of the bullet." I assured Reelora and the others.

Theux finally asks the question we have all been dying to know the answer to "what actually happened?"

The uninjured dragon begins with his explanation "so the two of us put on our camouflage abilities and approached Felix's company through the front entrance. One of us created a distraction and that way we entered the building. From the constant spying of the lab, we were able to get the code and location of their storage vault where the cube-like objects were kept. The scientists called them "powersuckers" though. The problem was that we had never expected a laser security system in the vault. We assumed that as we inputted the code, we would have been able to retrieve the powersuckers easily. So when entered, we saw some of the lasers and we averted them. But not all, by the time we got to where the powersuckets were stacked, we set the alarm off and he tried to grab as many as he could into the sack. We got 10 and tried to escape. It was easier because the guards couldn't see us but they knew we were in the building. We fortunately escaped the building at least almost, when Felix use a sniper that was shockingly able to spot us, to shoot him. This dragon and I were able to escape the second bullet as we flew with speed. It got to a point where I had to carry him because of his wound, he could no longer fly."

"This is threatening." Reebabo says. He added "this weapon can not only spot gifted but weaken and kill them, more reasons why Felix can't have gifted powers in his reach."

Theux faces the rest of the squad and asks "How many did you get altogether?"

"We were able to gather 24; Felix should have about 20 with him." The uninjured dragon replies. I turned to the injured dragon who is still breathing hard and I assure him" you will be fine."

"You all can get back to the spy operations, but be careful and do not approach any lab without planning and observations." Reelora tells them while giving them permission to leave.

Cerberus speaks with his three dog heads in unison," except the injured one leave the dragon here with Gangola and the powersuckers with us.

They exit the hall through the large main doors after dropping a sack which contained the powersuckers. I take a look at Reelora who is lost in thoughts. I get Reelora and Reebabo's attention. "Reelora let's go and release the powers, while Reebabo can examine this bullet." Reebabo takes the bullet from me.

IN THE HEART OF KENTUCKY LAKE (MERMAIDSNDMEN)

Toban's point of view

I am sitting at the edge of the small island with my greenish-blue tail hanging down into the blue misty lake. I can see fishes of different sizes and colors swimming towards different directions. I look up and notice the sun is at its setting mode.

"Teacher Toban, we are ready" I hear the cheery voice of the young teenage merman, Chris.

"Okay, I'm coming." I answer him and watch as he swims to the other side of the island to meet the other young mermaidsndmen. I dive into the water and swim to stay at their front.

"Good evening, class. Let's continue from where we left off last week. I will be showing you all how to freeze water with your abilities. You all have been able to learn how to control water to bend in your desired ways but this is different and tricky. Don't feel bad if you don't get it right away." After I finish speaking, I noticed I have all their attention.

I spread my palms and fingers forward and apart as I bend some water out of the lake. "It starts with the normal bending of the water out of the lake and. . . ." Suddenly, I squeeze my palms into fists and the water becomes as frozen as ice.

The young lads clap in awe and surprise. I smile and let go of my fists and it becomes water again. "All of you should try it out." I observe as some of them struggle to get it. I notice Chris struggling, grumbling and frustrated at the fact that he wasn't getting it. I swim to where he is, "You have to calm down, it's not about the strength and it would certainly not work when you are frustrated."

He finally gives up dropping the water in a splash and he voices out his feelings, "Why aren't I getting it? I was the first to get the bending of water and look at how others are getting it before me. At this rate, I won't make it into the spy squad." I widen my eyes in realization and we both swim to a secluded area.

"You all can go home, keep practicing on your own. We will continue tomorrow!" I shout to the rest before turning my attention to Chris.

"So that is what this is about. You don't have to rush it, you have enough time. You're going to be of age next year. Next year you will be 18, right?"I ask to be sure. He nods in agreement.

"Exactly! Getting frustrated and just giving up is not the option. And never compare yourself to others. People are different; this is why we learn at different times and in different ways. You can try this on your own tomorrow because it's already dark. You don't want your parents worrying."

Chris looks convinced and he replies "Ok sir, thank you for the talk. Have a good evening." We hug and he swims back to the depth where his home is.
