CHAPTER 6: THE PREGNANCY

"Put me down, would you?" Lucy pleads while Kovan smiles goofily. Koven finally puts her down from the bridal style position, in which he just lifted her.

" I'm very excited that I am a father. Koven goes silent for a minute imagining the thought, "wow! This is a really good news." He suddenly frowns his face before asking, "what made you think I won't be excited?" Lucy hesitates first before finally answering, "...because of the rule in your land and also due to this Felix issues going on. I thought you would see it as a wrong timing."

Koven's face softens on hearing her reply before speaking, "we have been breaking the rules since, there is certainly no going back, especially with this child. Besides you have created something special, we can't discard that, just because it's in the middle of some war. The only thing that matters is 'us' together." He then touches her belly and adds, "all of us." Lucy just smiles while hugging Koven.

NEXT DAY....

"This is not that good. . . . Or is it? I'm going to be a father, that's great! But the timing.... don't you think it's quite dangerous to have a baby now? How will I tell the immortals? Oh mehn. . . . You are not saying anything!" Koven is currently speaking to Keira who is trying to dodge his blows and kicks as a form of her personal training with him.

Keira dodges one of his punches while trying to reply, " I honestly don't know what else you want to say. Having a child is a thing of joy, don't think twice about it. About the council, they will just have to know. Rules are made to be broken, the worst that can happen is a punishment, bcause I know they won't take the life of the child." Just then, she throws a kick and Koven catches her leg in mid air causing her to fall with a loud thud. Koven finally replies, "no! Rules are meant to be obeyed. He offers his hand to bring her up. Keira takes his hand and pulls herself up, "If that is the case, then why did you 'obey it'." She put air quotes around 'obey it'. Koven rolls his eyes, "for the first time, you have a point. The deed has been done there's nothing that can be done to undo it. I know the immortals will not take a life." "Exactly, you don't even have to tell them immediately, you still have some time before the birth." Keira grins wildly, obviously impressed by her suggestion to Koven.

Koven then ruffles Keira's black hair while agreeing with her, "Yeah, but what about all this Felix thing going on. I hope she will be safe." By now, he has a worried look.

Keira places her hand on his shoulder," she will, she's a police officer and I'm sure she's a badass like her soulmate." She winks at him, making him smile, "she can take care of yourself. Don't be a worrywart."

When Keira noticed he was at ease now, she cocked her eyebrow then said, "aren't you glad I caught you that day, you would have been a mess without someone to talk to, huh." This made Koven to roll his eyes again, "No way am I grateful for that mistake. It just so happened that you were helpful. If it were otherwise, I would have still found a way."

Keira wrinkled her nose to make an annoyed face at Koven, "you can just pretend to be grateful and nice but noooo, you do otherwise." Koven just chuckles.

IN THE HUMAN REALM

"You sure that's all of them?" Felix asked the head of the scientists who is standing before him in his office at Danville. Seth was making himself comfortable on the chair across Felix at the other side of the table.

"Yes, all the branches were able to get rid of the spies they found. We gathered 10 powersuckers from their powers", the head answered Felix's question. Felix gave a relieved expression and yells with enthusiasm, "good riddance!" Suddenly, he widens his eyes in remembrance of something and raises his voice in a tone of anger, "I thought I gave the instruction that one of them be kept alive for questioning, so we can find their hiding place!" Obviously a bit frightened by his boss, he hesitated, "Y-Yes sir, you d-did. But the dragon we tried questioning refused to divulge any info. He chose to kill himself instead."

After Felix gives a heavy sigh, he speaks, "this is actually becoming quite difficult. Why are these bastards so good at hiding?" He pauses before speaking again, "okay. How ready are the big machines? It has to be ready in a week for full launch and attack."

The head of the scientist nods, "we are almost finished, we would have it for testing in the next few days." After Felix gives him an approving nod, he sent him away. Felix turns his attention to Seth who has been watching the show and chuckling in silence. Felix frowns and asks with much curiosity on his face, "why are you chuckling?"

"My friend, I can't help but be amused by your frustration with everybody, including your workers. You need to chill a bit", Seth smiles after giving his advice to Felix.

Felix raises his eyebrows and asks calmly, "and what good has chilling done for you, Evil G?" Before Seth could respond, Felix answers his own question, " I can see that it's not much. You said you have good news for me. What is it? Honestly if it's not about finding these creatures, I don't think I'm interested."

The hint from Seth's evil grin causes Felix to exclaim with a knowing smile, "oh! You evil genius! You freaking found them! Come on tell me how."

Felix leans towards his table to get closer to Seth with an eager look on his face. Seth pauses for a few seconds, like he was mentally praising himself before finally opening his mouth to speak, "you remember when I told you the police force were secretly on patrol to find these creatures." Felix nods in remembrance to their previous discussion, giving Seth the encouragement to continue, "at first, they sent a spy but that didn't go very well. Although, it helped them to get the location, not the exact place...." Felix frowns at the direction Seth is going to and speaks, "I thought you said you found them."

Seth answers very calmly, "I actually didn't say that, but we are actually very close though. They told me that they have been observing a lady conversing with one of those creatures at the same location. I have given orders for capture, they are on it right now. With that we can get the information we need. Good news is we can use her to lure one of those gifted beings out, using the information the police gathered." Felix looked confused at Seth's last statement and he is forced to ask, "what information?"

Seth grin's again before blurting out in a whisper, "she carries a baby for one of them."

Felix just has a look of shock plastered on his face.
