camping in the mountains •chapter 4 •chapter 4

It's already been two weeks since we are here at aunt Sandra's house.

Aunt Sandra has been wanting to take us camping in the mountains for a while.

Unfortunately due to her busy schedule, she didn't get the chance to take us the other days.

Today was a perfect day for camping in the mountains as the weather was sunny and also it was aunt Sandra's day off.

It is now five minutes pasted twelve in the day.

We're already on the bus, travelling to the camping ground in the mountains.

Also, there were some strangers that I didn't know of.

Mrs Bailey, Jessica, James and Miley was the only persons I knew on the bus.

The bus turned onto a road with no houses or buildings. The environment had a more natural surrounding than it was in the city.

It reminded me of my community in the countryside.

The bus then stopped before a small path. The small path was covered with bushes and trees.

There was no way for the bus to drive through the path,  so we exited the bus and walked through the path in single file.

While walking through the path, I saw bushes, grasses, plants and trees of all kinds.

The path was narrow and itchy, has the grass and trees were closed into us.

Minutes later, the path got wider and there were more trees than bushes.

"We are presently in the Westberg forest", said a strange lady.

Since the path was wider than before, I could see Jessica, James and mile again.

All of us walked, walked, walked and walked until the road got steep.

"This must be the bottom of the mountains", I assumed.

I began to see hills and fields above my eyes.

Momentarily we got tired of walking so decided to sit underneath the shade of mango a tree.

meanwhile, we enjoyed the bracing of the cool breeze passing.

Grandma started picking dozens of the ripe mangos of the tree for us to eat.

They were the sweetest  "I have ever had", I said.

we talked to Jessica and James all the way, we even cracked jokes with Jessica and James we also talked about things that we liked.

We continued our journey still we walked and walked kept on walking on and on till we started to mount a steep hill.

This means that we have entered the mountains; it seems

We I arrived at the top of the mountain I could almost see everything, I could see hills, valleys, plains, threes and even the city too

Eventually, we got tired of walking so we decided to sit underneath the shade of mango a tree.

Meanwhile, we enjoyed the bracing of the cool breeze passing by.

Aunt Sandra started picking dozens of the ripe mangoes off the tree for us to eat.

then she handed them out.

"These mangoes are the sweetest I have ever had", I said.

So I decided to take another mango with me.

Moments later, we got up and were ready to trudge our journey again.

While walking I asked Mrs Bailey "if night comes and we haven't found the camping ground, will we continue walking through the whole night or will we rest"?

"We must rest for sure ", Mrs Bailey said.

"It has been hours since we have been walking in the mountains", Jason said.

"Yea, I am getting way too tired now"! Exclaimed Eleanor.

"Please stop complaining kids, just be patient, okay, the camping ground is around the corner". Mrs bailey explained.

After walking for a while the sun had settled in the west then a young lady called Tania said

" you've arrived at the camping ground everyone ",

I felt relieved by this.

We started to set our tents around the area.

Aunt Victoria, Mrs Bailey and Miley shared a tent.

Meanwhile, Eleanor, Jessica, and I shared a tent.

Jason and James also shared a tent too.

After setting the tents,  a man called mark lit the campfire.

Earlier Mrs Bailey and her husband Mr bailey bought a bucket filled with small fish called spray, at the fish market.

Mark roasted the fish over the campfire.

, then the sprats were served with bread and spiked hot chocolate.

After eating the elders told us old-time folk stories and stories in the Bible.

After some, it got even darker.

Everyone is Already in their tents ready to sleep.

Except for me. Eleanor and Jessica had already fallen asleep.

Aunt Sandra, I called but heard no answers. It seems like everyone is sleeping.

Soon to started to feel lonely and want to sleep, but my eyes were deprived.

I thought of many different techniques to make me sleepily but none worked.

I decided to start thinking about all the fun and the adventures I have been on since I have been here.

I enjoyed the memories that I even smiled.

By surprise, I could already feel my eyes giving up into drowsiness. Before I even knew it I fell asleep.

The sun peak through the creases of the tent and it shined into my eyes. I jumped up rubbing my eyes it must be morning thought,  realizing I was the only one in the tent.

I flew out of the tent with a  frightening look on my face.

" you overslept"? Eleanor asked "A little  ", I replied

I rushed to wash my face with a bottle of water and I ate some of the remaining sprat and bread I had leftover from last night.

Jessica, Eleanor and I folded out the tent.

Then packed up every piece of equipment we took with us.

Next, all together we cleaned the camping ground.

From there the group of us travelled along with the group we walked back the same path until we came down the mountains.

And through the forest straight back home to the entrance of the path.

After waiting for thirty-five minutes the bus came to take us back to our homes.

One by one most of the passengers came off at their stop.

When it was our turn to exit the bus we said goodbye to the remaining passengers on the bus, then went into aunt Sandra's apartment.
