Chapter 1: A Journey Begins

Slamming the door behind him, Roanoke grinned in sheer pleasure at the jet black grimoire in his hands. Today was finally the day of the annual Selection Ceremony; where he was finally old enough to be selected! His eyes shining he pricked his finger and dropped a single dark red drop of blood into the keyhole in the cover a low soft 'Click'.

The book burst open flying from his hands. Just before it was about to hit the ground a black aura enveloped its edges and it stopped. It slowly rose to hover in the air open to the first page in front of Roe. A single spell sometimes also called a skill, shimmered in a silvery gray scrawl that reminded him of an old style master flowing in a beautiful way.

[ Doppelganger ] : This is a very unique and difficult skill for most to ever see. The user casts all of their magical energy for this spell to create a complete copy of oneself. This copy is exactly the same as the user in every single way and can be controlled by the user as if it's another limb. while the Doppelganger stands the users magical energy can not refill.

Roe felt like his jaw had just hit the floor! What the hell was this spell!? He wanted to become a hunter and be able to adventure and grow strong, gaining magic and treasures like all of the people he thought of as heros!? How was creating another him supposed to do anything?! It was at this moment he saw a clear way he could use this like a crazed mad man. Quickly he went through his savings and money realizing he had about 6,000 gold all together. " If this works then I'll be fine, but...." His voice trailed off not speaking the unspoken truth. If this didn't work he'd be screwed. Taking a deep breath he dived in head first like always. Quickly having his Doppelganger get things together in his room; he dashed out and tore down the stairs of his run down apartment building and out onto the bustling future streets of the year 8027. Pulling his hood up he set off to the merchant store front that lined the 5th central lane of the capital.

Roe tried not to gag on the foul metropolitan city air that choked most of societies now a days. The upper class lived way up in the sky with a barrier keeping the pollution down here for every one else to enjoy in full. Finally making it to a small shop he knew he waved at the girl behind the counter while she helped a customer. He started to scan the long wall of weapons, armor, learn able skills or spells. His attention focused on the weapons as he thought of the few different options he had and what would be best. He could afford to get each himself and his Doppelganger a sword but he also could get them each 2 long knives instead. He thought about this as he waited for Annalise, the girl behind the counter, to finish up with her customer.
