Daphne was in her bathroom, washing the non-existent blood off her hands. She still remembered what had happened last night, the vivid image burned into her memory.
{Flashback}
"Put this over your head," Eli tossed her a mask that he had made from a towel. "Make sure you put it on right. You don't want Pamela seeing our faces."
Daphne did as told as Eli put on his own mask that he had made from a towel. Putting his hand on the doorknob of Pamela's room, he pushed the door open, walking in. Almost immediately, Pamela rushed at them, screaming. Pamela managed to grab on to Daphne's towel mask and was trying to rip it off before Eli used the kitchen knife he had hidden to stab Pamela in the shoulder.
Daphne covered her mouth as to not scream as Pamela's body fell in front of her. The blood was pooling out of her neck and Daphne felt like she was about to be sick. Pamela screamed though it was weaker than before. Eli whispered, "Go back to your room. I'll take care of this."
Daphne had run back to her room as fast as she could, trying to leave behind the body of a girl whom she had assisted in murdering.
{Flashback end}
Daphne looked at her hands, which were red from scrubbing. She sighed and went back to sit on her bed, trying her best to do something, anything, to take her mind of Pamela's death.
The next morning, the moment everyone was let out of their rooms, they ran to the room where they had heard the scream.
"Pamela!" William gasped, looking at the body on the floor. "Who would do this?"
Daphne pushed forward and saw Pamela's body, or what was left of it. She gasped as well. When she had left Eli, there was only one knife wound on her shoulder. But Pamela's body had been repeatedly stabbed, and every part of her, including the clothes she was wearing, was covered in blood. Her desk had fallen next to her, the notebook sprayed with blood, the pencil broken and the sharpener smashed.
Kiana dry-heaved. "I think seeing them explode was almost better. At least we didn't have to see what was left of them."
"I just lost my appetite," Daphne clutched her stomach. Why would Eli do this? It wasn't like he needed to.
When everyone was gathered at the table, William was the first to yell, "Who did this?"
"I don't know! What, do you expect the killer to just come up and say 'I murdered Pamela'?" Avery snapped, seeming on edge.
"You don't have to be so defensive," 1 growled. "You're acting weird. Did you kill her or something?"
"Well, there were a lot of stab wounds," Eli mused. "And her desk and everything else was messy. It would take someone strong to hold her down, someone, like an athlete."
"Yeah, I was thinking that too," 5 said. "And Avery here is the only one who plays sports."
"Hey, hey, I didn't do anything!" Avery's eyes widened as no one answered. "I didn't do it! Honestly!"
"Stop trying to make us believe your lies," 2 stood up, along with 1, 4, and 5, and together, they held him down and stuffed his mouth with a piece of cloth, gagging him and keeping his hands and legs down.
Daphne kept silent, bowing her head and trying to ignore Avery struggling, knowing it was the only way for her to live. She caught sight of Eli's mouth quirked into a small smirk, almost like he was enjoying this. She shuddered, not used to seeing the cold, cruel look on Eli's usually blank and calm face.
That night, everyone voted for Avery, except Avery himself, who voted for 1. Avery exploded. While the rest worked on cleaning the bloodstain with some of the cleaning equipment that had been found, Eli sidled up to Daphne. "Tonight, let's kill William. He's said he's a Civilian, which makes him safe to kill since he's not a Psychic. If he is someone else, well, we can take care of it some other way."
Daphne wasn't able to say anything before Eli walked away and started talking with others. Daphne once again shuddered at how normal Eli looked, as if as he hadn't brutally stabbed Pamela to death.
That night, as they were sneaking to William's room, she couldn't handle it. She grabbed onto the first door she saw, which was Sophia's room, and turned the handle. Surprisingly, it was locked. Eli rushed to open William's door, but it was locked as well. He tried three other doors, but it was also all locked. Eli's mouth curled into an ugly sneer and he hissed, "Great. You ruined our chance!"
Mia shouted, "Murderers, leave us alone!"
The chant was taken up by the rest of the players and Eli pushed Daphne back to her room. "Play along and shout with them. Do not mess up anything, understood?"
Daphne nodded, and Eli pulled her door closed and it locked. Daphne started to yell the chant as well. A few moments later, she heard Eli's voice amongst the others. When it was twelve-thirty, everyone stopped, and Daphne guessed that they probably went to bed.
She slipped into her own bed as well, relieved that no one was murdered tonight, but dreaded what would happen the next day, and if she would be caught.
