Letter

In earth, everything is about strength – in politics, business, words, knowledge, or power. With the chaos brought by demonic beasts, power is the most sought of these strengths. From the age of 6 to 17, youths are encouraged to attend regular classes that will tackle math, science, computer, business, and everything that you might observe in the world, except for demonic beasts. At the age of 18, it is compulsory to attend a magic academy. There, their mana heart will be stimulated to awaken their powers. Everyone is required to do so because sudden war with demonic beasts cannot be predicted and having backup soldiers is always better than just having those who are willing to fight.

"Wish me good luck!" Josh said to his panda stuffed toy. He turned 18 half a year ago and was told that he is required to go to Canada Magic Academy. He rode a taxi from his small house to the academy. There, he met various youth about the same age as him.

Standing at the top of a platform hovering in front of the academy's huge gate, a middle-aged woman with pink hair greeted the youths. "Good morning everyone! I am glad to see you all gathered here. Give yourself some round of applause for being brave enough to be a reserved soldier."

*Clap*Clap*Clap*

Josh was quite confused. 'How did she know that we are all here? Why give us applause if it is required?'

"Some of you seemed confused as to how I counted you all, right? Hahaha! I'm a wind magician. You can say that wind is like my skin. I can tell that on this portion of space in front of the academy, there are exactly 200 of you here. Enough of that, enter the academy! The guards will arrange guide you for the mana heart stimulation. I hope you all good luck!"

The students entered the academy. Inside, they felt they are in a very huge courtyard. They were arranged based on the numbers they were given from their letter of compulsory study. Josh got number 100. The youths are separated into 10 groups with 20 members each. Josh was assigned to group E. They were guided to one of the academy's rooms. Upon entering, they noticed a man in his late twenties standing in the front.

"Hi kids, I'm Ron, your instructor! Please sit anywhere you like. You can also stand if that's what you see fit. First, let me explain what you will do. Do you see this aquarium in front of me? This is liquid mana. You will submerge your hands here for 10 seconds. Then you will enter that capsule there which contains vaporized mana. You will lie there until you awaken. Don't worry guys. The mana you got from the aquarium will not vaporize from waiting for your turn in the capsule. Your dormant mana heart will keep them."

"Okay!! Enough of that gloomy stuff. Let's talk about magic! There are many kinds of magic that we will categorize into two. First, nature magic. This includes fire, earth, water, wind, light, darkness, lightning, everything you see in nature. Second, utility magic. This includes mental, soul, psyche, healing, curses, prediction, magnetism, cutting, and the likes. All humans are guaranteed to have at least one magic of a specific kind while in some rare cases some have both nature and utility magic. I wish that you will have what you want! Let's start!"
