Chapter 92

"Oh alright then, tell the chef I would like some medium well steak with some red wine to top it off."

Lady Melissa said, in the mood for some steak to eat, her stomach already growling imagining the steak.

"Alright then Lady Melissa, I shall tell the chef about your order, I hope you have a goodnight's rest."

Sophia said, leaving as Lady Melissa simply watched her figure leave the door, and back into the kitchen.

"I'll take a shower right now then I guess."

Lady Melissa said out loud, to herself.

After five minutes had passed, Lady Melissa left the bathroom, with her hair wet, and her face content with the satisfying warm shower she had earlier.

Lady Melissa forgot to take her pajamas into the bathroom, quickly using a towel to take her change of clothes.

Before she quickly went back into the bathroom again, this time changing into her comfortable pajamas.

Lady Melissa quickly went downstairs, into the dining table being met with her parents; and her dad reading the newspaper, as usual.

Lady Melissa sarcastically rolled her eyes at her father, it was no surprise that he was reading another newspaper.

Her mother quickly greeted her, noticing her daughter's presence in the entrance of the dining room.

"Good evening dearie, what'd you order for dinner with the chef tonight?"

The Duchess asked Lady Melissa, curious onto what her daughter had ordered for tonight's dinner.

"Good evening to you as well, mother. Good evening to you too, father."

Lady Melissa said bowing a little, before continuing her sentence.

"I ordered some steak for the chef to make for me for tonight's dinner, I asked for it to be medium well as well."

Lady Melissa said, telling her mother what she had ordered for tonight's dinner.

The Duke quickly spared Lady Melissa a glance, before greeting his daughter and averting his gaze to the newspaper once more, flipping through its pages.

Lady Melissa quickly turned to where her father was sitting, but she was too late as he had already averted his gaze from her.

'Oh well.'

Lady Melissa thought, before she started to have a conversation with the Duchess regarding how a business deal of the Duchess' went.

Coincidentally or not; the person who she did the business deal with was called Melissa as well, and the Duchess couldn't help herself but think of her daughter Melissa, the whole time the business deal was taking place.

"You didn't almost call the person you were doing a business deal with dearie right mother?"

Lady Melissa asked, already imagining the embarrassment on her mother's face if she had actually done that.

"Haha….that's a funny story actually….Luckily for me, I stopped myself amidst calling her dearie, covering it up with a cough."

The Duchess said, awkwardly laughing, remembering earlier when she had to stop herself from calling her business partner dearie.

"You actually almost said that? Outloud? And in front of everyone who was there? Maybe you should stop calling me dearie from now on mother."

Lady Melissa said, in disbelief, already imagining in her head how embarrassed her mother would be.

"Maybe that's for the best, and yes, for your information I actually said that outloud, in front of everyone who was there Melissa."

The Duchess said.

"I guess you learnt your lesson, mother."

Lady Melissa said, a smile on her face, letting out a little laugh.

"I guess so."

The Duchess replied.

"Your mother changed a little detail from the story though, she didn't stop herself, it was me."

The Duke said, suddenly speaking up as he had been listening to his daughter and wife's conversation earlier.

"Ohhh so dad was involved in the business meeting as well?"

Lady Melissa asked, curious to know whether her father was involved in the business meeting and plan as well.

"Yeah he was, and I guess he did stop me too, but that was after I realized what I was about to do, so that doesn't count."

The Duchess cheekily said, a smirk on her face, being petty and saying that it didn't count.

"You always do this."

The Duke said, sarcastically rolling his eyes at her before averting them back into his newspaper, letting his wife win this argument.

Just as Lady Melissa was about to say another word or sentence, the food had come in, and Lady Melissa could already smell the delicious aroma of her medium-well steak, her mouth constantly watering already.

The servants quickly put Lady Melissa's dish on the table, before quickly bowing down and going back into the kitchen, probably to go and help clean the dishes or something.

"You should eat it, I can already see your mouth watering from a mile away."

The Duchess sarcastically said, pointing her middle finger towards the steak that was right in front of Lady Melissa's face.

"Don't mind if I do."

Lady Melissa said, before using her fork and knife to slowly cut the steak open, cutting the steak into many small pieces and eating them one by one.

Not too quickly though, because she didn't want to choke on anything, Lady Melissa had already learnt her lesson from her dinner with Duke Mason; she ought not to repeat her mistake once more.

Speaking of Duke Mason, Lady Melissa could still vividly recall when she had first entered the room where she would be dining with Duke Mason, not knowing who it was; but she had a good guess.

And that guess of hers so happened to be correct, and right on the spot as well.

Lady Melissa zoned out, chewing her food while thinking of Duke Mason at the same time, wondering if he was really a flirt.

'Well, he probably is, I can already tell from how he acts.'

Lady Melissa thought to herself, feeling like he was a flirt, but for some reason, her heart didn't want to believe that, her heart wanted to believe that Duke Mason wasn't a flirt, and not a womanizer of any sorts.

She didn't know why, yet her heart simply just hoped; that Duke Mason wasn't a womanizer, the flirting part, although Lady Melissa didn't like it very much if he'd flirted with everyone, if he flirted only with her she wouldn't mind it a single bit.
