Like a hand grenade

It was about time to leave the library it had been a day and we slept over night because Azula was buried in what looked to be children's books. It made me slightly worried because she had her psyche drop and her other stats rise. Nonetheless it was about time to get her. She had read through those books about 12 times now. Not to mention I couldn't find Mai or Ty Lee.

Hell the crew of the Cank even took shifts to visit the library. Saw this one engineer looking at a carriage magazine. I mean how was that a thing? I sighed walking up behind Azula, "Azula its about time to go, are you ready?"

She was in a history section now. It seemed she was reading something about past warlords. Azula was still reading the book and I grabbed her shoulder and she twitched. She swung her hand back and a burst of fire near singed my eyebrows. "The Hell?"

Azula looked freaked out and seemed on guard. I reached out a little, "What are you doing?"

"Giving you hand up. Why are you so freaked out?"

A smooth kindness was needed for this. Azula grabbed my hand and stood up. "L-let's go find Mai and Ty Lee. I have a new plan."

"You have a new plan?"

Azula bit her lip, "I remembered something I-" blood started dripping from her bottom lip and I had to stop her. Swatting her slightly she jumped. "Don't bite your lip you are bleeding." I handed her a small cloth from my pocket and she placed it against her lips.

Searching for Mai and Ty Lee was surprisingly fast when a fox showed up. These guys were diligent at their job. "Mai! Ty Lee!"

They both turned around just as the room darkened. Looking up at the eclipse I raised an eyebrow. "The day of the black sun, good to know the date."

"We were just looking!"

Mai smacked Ty Lee in the side. I rolled my eyes, "It doesn't matter I already knew about it. Azula your new plan?"

Azula looked up and around for a second. "Okay so, we are gonna help the avatar!"

We all stared at Azula like she was crazy. I mean shit, I was supposed to help him, but why did Azula think about this? Azula's psyche went up though so i guess she was think she had gone crazy. Mai looked at Azula with her own skepticism and, "Why would we do that?"

Azula paced a little and then nodded. "Okay to begin, we help the avatar because this will allow us a reasonable plan to overthrow my father. Do to you know the struggle against the Earth kingdom. My father has plans to use Sozin's comet to destroy the earth nation and turn it to ash."

"Um, I- Azula why would we?"

"BECAUSE WE WERE TAUGHT WRONG!" Azula screamed at Ty Lee and they both trembled slightly for different reasons. Azula sighed, "Sorry, Sorry. Its just, Look I won't go into why, but I was reading some children's books that explained bending. Combine what I read there and what I learned from Orin's..."

I was about to respond with the proper term, but Azula just continued. "Look point is we were taught wrong! I thought I was perfect and my bending was practically the best. Except not only is that untrue! Except there is even more to learn! The standard previous fire lords had set ruined the basic ideologies of the fire nation!"

Mai interrupted, "Love the new patriotism Azula, but are you seriously saying you decided to betray your father because you weren't perfect?"

Ty Lee shook her head, "No Azula is right, it isn't about just her right Azula?"

Azula nodded, "EXACTLY! Look if the fire nation kidnaps earth benders and forces them to work. Sure we have workers right? Except they aren't willing, they can betray us! Sure they fear us and what not, but the problem is they will never fully work towards ideals. it will only be status quo!"

I could only smirk and contain my laughter. This was a funny turn of heart for her. Still a little corrupted, but still at least it was more aligned with my own goals. If I coul-

Azula grabbed me and pulled me close to her. "Orin made me realize even if the fire nation wins, we will still lose! Then if the avatar wins? Well, we will just be history to this era! Like all these books! Conquers! There have been hundreds!"

Azula threw her hands in the air again. "Fire Lord Kinizon! He conquered all four nations! years later he disappeared in the middle of the night taken by spirits! The Ice Queen Mora! She actually froze the oceans of our world and land locked all trade! Killed by spirits! Even the air nation has a story about am air bender who sucked the life out of people to live to 500 years old! Can you guess what happened!"

It was easier to see where this was all going. Azula paced to the front of the faux observatory. "So! Fuck that shit! I don't know about you guys, but I wanna win!"

I raised my hand and spoke, "So then, you wanna be the good guy?"

Azula hesitated, but then smiled. "Not how I would put it, but FUCK YEAH!"

Mai sighed, "Sorry to burst you bubble of enthusiasm Azula, but number one we don't know where the avatar is. Every other nation hates the fire nation, air benders are literally dead. Which leaves quite frankly what I think is the elephant in the room. Aren't you daddy's little girl? Why would you even want to do this?"

Ty Lee pulled Mai and Azula into a hug. "Isn't it obvious! She finally found happiness!"

Both the girls pushed Ty Lee away. Azula however spoke again, "Look we were already planning a revolt against my father, might as well go for a home run and make the rest of the world view us as saviors!"

How glorious, I could wipe a single tear from my eye. "Well if you wanna do that we should likely travel as two groups."

The girls looked at me and I elaborated, "We won't be trusted by anyone if we travel as fire nation."

They looked a little confused, I rubbed my hands together. This was gonna be fun!
