It was great how everything was wrapping up. Except in the back of my head I had an itch. Even as I cleared up with the misunderstanding with Toph and her Mom I was left distracted. Mai elbowed me and I broke from it. I address Toph's moms apology. "Its no problem, I can understand where it went wrong. Though I guess it worked out..."
She nodded, "I never knew my daughter was such a powerful bender, and to think she was able to teach the avatar so easily. Though I am sure I will need to have a conversation with my husband about her freedom."
Toph jumped, "FINALLY! Speaking of Mom why were you kidnapped?"
Her mom turned with a dramatic sway. "It is a long story, that involves the royalty of Ba Sing Se. You see..."
Toph sighed, interrupting her mom. "That you are the real princess of Ba Sing Se and your once best friend betrayed you and Dad saved you. Which led you to fall in love and never return to Ba Sing Se until now. I overheard you and dad talk about it when you received a letter. Never knew what it said though."
I whispered to Mai, "*Totally right*".
Toph's mom shook her head, "Close, but no. My sister was the best friend and the Ba Sing Se princess is dead. I didn't agree with the whole thing so I ran away. A real problem I have it seems."
Mai gave a laugh under her breath and Toph gave a look of surprised. I just frowned as my theory was wrong. The feeling itched at me again. It was far from curiosity or longing, but that was the close thing I had to compare. "Let's get out of I keep zoning out."
That metal cell was likely the cause, but whatever was inside it no longer made a sound. Hell it didn't even cause a rumble anymore. Turning to Toph I pointed at the walls. "Any exits or other prisoners you feel like saving?"
Toph shrugged, "A few of the cells have skeletons in them, but all the others seem to be empty."
I nodded, no doubt they just hypnotized criminals and released them back out. Toph's mom was related and knew about the brainwashing. While Zuko and Iroh were bargain chips. Toph pointed, "Wait! There is someone in this cell. Should I open it?"
We all looked at each other and Sokka shrugged, "Why not, we already have those two." Referring to Zuko and Iroh of course. With that Toph slammed her fist on the cell making the wall crumble. Behind the wall was a very very disheveled man. He looked at us and then turned back to staring into nothing.
"Well, you didn-" Zuko and Iroh pushed past us. Almost throwing Toph to the side. I caught her though and We all just leaned in as the two went from surprised to horror to all kinds of shades of emotion. As I studied the situation though my eyes widened, so did Mai's. For a very obvious reason.
"I don't mean to be rude, but how the fuck is he alive?"The three not in the loop turned to me and Mai expressing curiosity. Iroh cleared it up though by jumbling forward and grabbing hold of the ragged and no doubt mentally damaged, Lu Ten. Toph twitched, and I looked behind us.
A second later Zuko and Sokka turned as well. Zuko Grabbed Iroh, "We need to go uncle, we can take Lu Ten with us."
For Lu Ten's part he didn't move, Just staring into space. A group of Dai Lee began to run towards us. Rolling my eyes before they could attack I motioned forward. It was always a first time and I wasn't feeling it. The Dai Lee stopped in their tracks, frozen in place.
Speaking out, "I got them just leave. I'll catch up quickly."
Mai jumped to action and pushed everyone into the cell with Lu Ten. A second later Mai forced Toph to close the cell behind them. I heard some slight friction, but The earth moved to close. I smiled, I sure am glad Mai is smart.
The Dai Lee agents struggled against my blood bending. I wasn't that skilled in it obviously so they managed to fight against it. Except I never attended use blood bending to control them. They 4 men screamed as they died. Their blood freezing inside them killing them. My arm went limp and numb.
Despite being able to bend more then one element I found one downside in I couldn't use them all at once. I could use maybe one or two at once, but combining the elements was the best use. Blood bending however seemed to give me the same problem as using more then one element. I shook off the numbness and wandered over to the corpses.
A rumble shook through the tunnels again. I sighed, it was time to leave. Whatever was in that metal vault was the source of my troubles. It was messing with my head and I didn't like it. If I had to take a guess whatever that thing was. It was likely a part of the whole brainwashing process. I likely was being messed with due to my 'special' existence.
If a creature was linked to the brainwashing it would explain a lot more after all. Since it was hard to believe that one could be brainwashed with just a spinning mechanism. Brainwashing was a lot more then just that after all. Combine that with the whole energies and elements and all that. It would be hard to provide and exact process to it.
Smacking the wall I created a opening. Then I sealed myself inside, it was time to leave after all.
-----Dai Lee Agent Flim pov----
Someone had managed to break into Lake Laogai tunnel system. That in it self would be a problem, but investigating these corpses... Oh boy I had my doubts. I only became a Dai Lee Agent for the excellent pay and health insurance.
That however did not prepare me fore whatever this was. I recognized two of these guys. I shook my head, one literally had his birthday today. We had a surprise party for him and everything, the surprise now would be his funeral though...
Then all the prisoners we had are now gone. Someone would be fired for that, and I didn't plan to be the one that gets blamed. So getting up I turned around and walked away from the dead bodies that seemingly had their blood freeze over. Whatever killed them I certainly wasn't gonna fuck with it.
