Chapter 8

During my time here on earth, I learned to love every creature whether it's small or big. I also helped humans in times of accident, disaster and extreme need because they are my responsibility and that is our mandates as an angels to protect every living things.

But now, I could not stop looking at my hands throughly. I can't believe that I have hurt and almost killed someone because of anger and frustration.

"Salt.." Celestine whispered and is looking at me in concerned. When we first arrived at her apartment she broke down and cried the moment she saw the twins. "What exactly really happened? Why there was blood on your clothes?" my wound heal itself while we were heading at Celestines but the blood stains remained. "Did he hurt you?"

Honestly, I do not regret what I did with Aaron. He maybe a human but his soul is already burning in hell. There were really good and bad people on Earth but i will choose to protect the good ones especially Celestine and the twins.

It took a lot of courage to push back all the troubles in my heart and smile half heartedly to Celestine. "Worry not," the warmth of her lustrous hand kindle from tip of my fingers to the pit of my stomach. "He did nothing to me,"

"Are you sure?" Celestine asked skeptically.

"I am," I told her. She gently cupped my face making me close my eyes. "The blood is not mine," I know it is wrong to lie but i did not want her to worry anymore. "What more important is that the twins are safe and they are with you now."

"Thank you so much Salt," Celestine took a shaky breath before pressing her lips against mine to express her compassion and gradtitude. "Honestly, I do not know what to do if you are not with me, if you are not with us." she forced a laugh, it sounded like a broken string of guitar. I also felt her worries and fears. "I might be crazy,"

"Hey" I whispered lowly and gave her a comforting squeeze. "You have me now and i will always be by your side," Celestine laid her head over my shoulder. "Where are the twins?" I looked around but could not see them.

"They are asleep," she replied while playing with my fingers. "I still do not talk to them properly. They got really tired and terrified so i let the twins rest first,"

The twins were mortified of what happened and could not believe when they saw my wound had slowly disappeared into thin air.

I heard the door creak open. "Salt!" Suruel came in and already stood by my side to deliver a bad news. "The police could not find Aaron in his apartment,"

Celestine gingerly rubbed her hands in frustration. "I knew it," she breathed in deeply, calming down her senses. "He will get back for vengeance,"

"I already filed a multiple case against him Celestine," he announced. Well. He was a lawyer back in Russia. "And the police will search for him,"

I stood up and looked outside the window. "We can't leave you guys here," the darkness slowly consumed every corner as sunset started to filled the sky like priceless painting. Slowly, i turned around and my eyes met the marvelous green orbes of Celestine. "Come with me,"

"That is a good idea," Suruel agreed and crossed his arms. "Aaron can't follow you in Salt's penthouse. The place is secure."

"If we don't interfere with you," Celestine sighed in defeat. There was a glint of hesitation in her eyes but she knows we have a point and this is for the best. I'm willing to offer everything for Celestine. She is the love of my life. "But i want to stay here for tonight and pack some essential things for the twins,"

My hair glides over my shoulders when i bend on my knee and grabbed one of the pieces of paper on the floor. This is the paper where Celestine drew the moon. Something a part of her, us.

••

I gently put my wine glass on the table as i closed the book i was reading. Another great book will be added to my collection. I can actually relate to the story of My Love From the Star. Losing someone you deeply love is like half of your human being was gone too.

When the Goddess of the Moon delivered a very awful news about the death of Juno really tore me into pieces but the God from above gave us another life and chance so i was not planning on wasting it.

"Are they okay at home?" Suruel interrupted my thoughts. I was thinking the same way. Honestly. We did not want to go home and leave them behind but Celestine insisted us to rest because we are all tired.

"Well the policemen were there to secure them," I replied.

Suruel poured more red wine in his glass. "Better be," He looked up to me through his thick and long lashes. "I even paid them to do their job," I shook my head in disbelief. "Anyway Salt," he put a folder on the table. "I forgot to give you this,"

Without any words, i took it and my eyes could not believe what i was seeing. "How did you---"

"Don't act like you are really suprised Salt," Suruel chuckled. "I'm still a lawyer in a sense," I smiled at him. "I already submit all the requirements even our wedding photos,"

"What?" My ears filled with blackness. "How and when did we got married?"

Suruel flashed me his famous and knee shaking smile before showing me a picture. "My friend made this,"

"Oohh," I gasped while scanning every inch of our so called wedding picture. "No one will suspect that these are fake," Well in the picture i was wearing a wedding gown and holding Suruel's arm. We were smiling like the most beautiful and happy couple on Earth. "Very immaculate photoshop,"

"Indeed," Suruel stood up. "After your class tomorrow we need to go to the orphanage for initial interview as couple. I want see and meet who is Blaire,"

Butterflies swarmed inside my stomach by the mentioning of Blaire's name. It was still weird by how she made me feel.

••

"Do unseen things exist?" One of my student asked. A pretty girl with a long dark hair, i don't know where the question came from.

"The answer is obvious," I replied emotionless while adjusting my glasses. All my students are looking at me intently. "If you consider oxygen, gravity, or the WiFi signal you are using,"

"That is right," The pretty girl agreed.

"So is heaven?" Another student asked. "Because like gravity we don't see and know where exactly heaven is."

Of course i knew where it was.

"Heaven is where you are going to someday idiot or more like in hell," Someone chipped in.

"Silence please," I restrained them. "Heaven is not a physical place but a state of being. It's the place where God lives and where his presence uniquely dwells to bless."

"But--" A student was about to argue but the bell rang.

"Class dismissed and have a nice day," I told them and waited for all my students to leave before gathering my stuff so i can finally visit the orphanage.

A red mustang stopped in front of me at the parking lot. The window rolled down and saw my handsome best friend smiling from ear to ear. "Babe.." I wordlessly got inside his car. "Are you ready?"

"As I'll ever be," I replied cheerfully.

"I already picked up Celestine and the twins they are already in your penthouse."

"Thank you,"

Suruel gave me a sideways glance. "How are you going to tell Celestine about Blaire?"

I leaned back against the headrest and slowly closed my eyes. "I'm not yet sure but," There was a pause. "Adopting Blaire is my priority. I want her out of the orphanage before someone could adopt her,"

The whole ride was quite and peaceful. We enjoyed the music from the radio and the enticing scenery of New York City.

"We are here," Suruel announced and parked the car across the orphanage. We got out of the car and went inside the busy and festive building. "There must be a celebration,"

Kids are running and laughing around. They are having a good time. I was trying to look for Blaire but she is nowhere to be seen.

"Ms. Quinn!" The matron greeted me cheerfully. "We are actually waiting for you. Let's go to my office,"

We followed the matron and entered her office. Suruel was such a great actor, very into acting as my husband. We submitted all the documents they needed for adoption.

"We will call you once everything is ready," The matron said as the three of us stood up. "Personaly Ms. Quinn. I'm really happy for Blaire because finally she is going to have a family,"

"Don't worry Mrs. Johnson we are going to take care of her. We will love her like our own daughter," I told the Matron. "Can i please see her?"

The Matron smiled. "Sure," We found Blaire sitting alone on the grass with her drawing book, pencils and very oblivious about everything. "I have to go Mrs and Mr. Quinn," Matron excused herself.

"Go talk to her," Suruel encouraged.

My heart was slamming hard while i silently walked towards Blaire. The cold wind whipped against me making my hair flew in the air.

"Blaire.." I whispered very lowly like almost no one could hear but Blaire's hand stopped moving and slowly lifted her head in my direction.

"Jesus!" Suruel gasped when he finally saw Blaire. "You gotta be kidding me! She really looks like you Cassiel!" This is the first time that he called me by my real name after awhile. "Aside from her eyes which is obviously she inherited from Celestine!"

We watched how the pen rolled out of her hand and dropped on the grass. "Hey.."

Blaire quickly stood up and ran to me with tears in her eyes. "Mommy!" I stroke my fingers through her hair. She looked up to me. "You came back!"

I caressed her cheeks. "I'm here for you my lovely one,"

"Please don't leave me again," Blaire begged as more tears spilled out of her eyes.

"Shh.." I tried to calmed her down and we accompanied Blaire back yo where she was. "Why are you alone here?"

"Kids are annoying," Blaire said with a deep frown on her face. "I want to finish my drawing."

"Can we see it?" Suruel asked. Blaire smiled big and handed him the drawing book. My best friend's mouth dropped and looked at me.

Without any question i took the drawing paper. It was a a sketched of a two figures looking at each other in front of the moon. One of the figure has wide wings and I'm pretty sure it was me. The other one looks like Celestine and was glistering against the moonlight.

The latest chapter will upload later. I'm sorry for a long wait.
