It lays limb

Fae and Elija were currently sitting in a black van that they were shoved in. both of them were of course completely clueless about what is to come for them in the future. the bodyguards said that the company boss wanted to meet them , and they had a feeling it had something to do with what happened last time they were in the company.

Elija kept side eyeing Fae as if to secretly communicate with her but they were both trying to ignore each other as best as they can right now. the words he told her back then were playing in her mind. never in her life has she doubted the fact that she was a bad family member before she saw Elija again. she always thought she needed to try harder to gain the trust of her own family. she told herself that even if he was lying she would like to believe it was truth for a while.

Elija on the other hand was always like that. he has a comforting nature on his own he knows the right things to say. he cares enough to try to help , and that's why he had many friends lining up.

the two body guards sat on the seat opposite to them. " don't look at me like that El." Fae whispered trying to be slick by looking around as if she was talking to the fly that kept annoying her.

"lets go to the company she said. it'll be fine she said. I should never listen to you again Fae. look where we ended up. I don't think now we're gonna find out ' the secret of the phone' I guess. you wanna know why? we just made that CEO go bankrupt because we ruined his elevator. I feel so guilty I can throw up." his voice was getting louder each word and he was getting impatient but luckily for him they arrived right on time.

"what? bankrupt? your imagination is wild El. I bet its just a company boss who wants compensation for his what happened to the elevator ,yeah. they're to rich to go bankrupt . where did you even get that idea?" she was definitely making fun of him but she was thinking of how he could feel guilty when he was a victim in their case. that day they were about to die but he still feels like he needs to share that blame. she was boiling from the inside. she wanted to become more like him but not to the point were you would feel sorry for that CEO.

"we're here." one of the bodyguards said stretching their arms to open the door. as he does that you can get a view of his bulging muscles that seem to wanna jump out of his body.

"okay man no need for you to flex we know your a big guy." Elija was, to say the least, jealous. I mean how can someone have so much flesh but when Elija tries to gain weight it doesn't work for him.

they walk their way to the company as the bodyguards from before surround them and greet others in work with joy as if they didn't hold the fate of poor Fae and Elija in the back. they walk through the corridor passing a now completely fine elevator that has been installed and a lot of other rooms until they reach what they'd assume was the CEO's office.

Fae was very quiet and recited what she had to say in her head over and over. only thing the boss had to do was say exactly what she played in her head. the scenario she had in her head had to be played ,otherwise she would freeze in the spot.

the CEO looks up to find them. he stands up and tidies his suit. "thank you boys, you can go now." the bodyguards scatter to different places one brings a chair for the CEO who seems in his thirties and the other closes the door after both of them leave.

silence.

he just kept looking at them like a creep. just starring with his hands on his chin and then suddenly talks. "damn, it's been a while huh?" the CEO blurted tidying the documents in front of him after.

at this point the sweat on Elija's forehead could make a river. he was very nervous because he dragged Fae along with him through the trouble so he bangs his hands on the table the CEO was sitting at and start to speak his mind. " were sorry we made you go bankrupt old man but it wasn't our intention to do that. we are here to compensate any losses you had to face just don't put us in jail."

"old man." the CEO continues to laugh. he didn't like how Elija was acting one bit. banging his hands on the table and jumping to conclusion told him he was uncomposed so he just said what he had in mind, trying to hold back his laughter " who is this guy Fae? I don't think your dad would want you to associate yourself with someone as aggressive as him." he turns as he laughs so hard he starts coughing.

as soon as the CEO brought up her father she felt the need to give him a peice of her mind. and that's exactly what she does after he finished laughing" your one to talk OLD MAN, what made you jump into a conclusion that he was a bad guy that I shouldn't associate myself with let alone for my father to not want me to not know him. for your information my dad knows him better than you do . you on the other hand barley know who I am , yet you have the audacity to tell me who I should and shouldn't associate myself with."

Fae grabbed Elija by his shirt from how mad she was. she didn't realize the way she was talking until she stopped to breath. as soon as she sees the panicked look on Elija , and as soon as she could feel his heart beat, she let go of him only to realize she had problems breathing again. all while the CEO stays silent this whole time, she pulls an inhaler and pats herself on the back so she can gain consciousness of what's going on around her. she didn't know why she got so mad all of the sudden but she knew she had to keep her composure.

" I'm your father's friend , and I'm sorry to impose on who you should befriend and who you shouldn't. that was out of place from my part I promise not to cross the line again. it's not my place to do so, and young man, don't worry you're not going to get in trouble, but thank you for your concern. I just want you to do me a favor instead of paying for the damage." Fae and Elija let out a breath they were holding in this whole time. that man really was cruel to do that. Fae walked over and grabbed a chair for her and for Elija and sat in front of the man. She was getting down to business to show him she was serious.

no more messing around. if they had to dig up dirt about this mans company then they had to go with one strategy : keep your friends close but your enemies closer. in other words they were gonna deal with him until they get what they want too. and that was what Fae concluded in her head.

she gestured for him to go ahead and explain as they both sat comfortably. "I want you to follow my brother tonight and as soon as you have him get him here so can have a lively chat on our own."

"so basically kidnap him." Elija said as his hands became sweaty. " you seem to like the concept old man but I don't think we can to that." he said sitting comfortably on the chair. after he found out he didn't cause the man to get bankrupt he was a little bit less anxious. a little bit.

"no, we can, we can if you give us what we want sir." Fae stops Elija who sits there in shock. she is willing to commit crimes now only for the phone. she is willing to kidnap. she was willing to take him along to do the the crime with her. she was willing to ignore his protest and visible disinterest. is that where we were now?

"first of all I have nothing to give you, you might have not asked but I know you from your father, he made your cousin work at my company to find out about something but failed in the end to find even the concept of what he was looking for." he says fixing his suit. he was getting discouraged. he didn't think Fae was smart enough to take advantage of the whole situation and she would get what she wanted at length.

" your not going to kidnap anyone you are just going to convince him to come with you to talk to me for a few seconds. easy. now you don't have to worry. you're going to take a car from the company and we know his location so you just need to follow him and get him here. know move on. I have work to do. just come here at around nine PM." he walks away after explaining his plan. he was making coffee from the coffee machine waiting for their answers.

Fae kept on looking at the floor to analyse the situation before her.

but Elija didn't like where this is going. if they were going to find out what the phone wanted, they would eventually have to commit a crime at some point. he just noticed that. it was the truth. and he had a feeling he was the only one worrying about that.

Fae stands up to their surprise and approaches the CEO " I have conditions to this deal. as long as we succeed in delivering your brother we would stay in touch and you would help us with the thing dad was looking for for as long as you can. you can't either refuse nor reject that offer until we do as were told so let's just say its a deal for now." and from then on you can say they started an alliance with the CEO.

"deal." the CEO said shacking her hand. and the deal was sealed.

later on at 9 PM they took the car and were waiting for his brother who they found out was called Wallice Wayne in the outskirts of the city. Elija was driving the car since Fae doesn't drive cars, and Fae herself was sitting in the back to 'keep away suspicion ' as she says. "he's that car over there. not the one in front us the one over there." Elija says pointing at the car that was away from them. there was a car in between them and they were waiting for it to pass by so they can follow Wallice.

half an hour passed and the car was sticking like glue to the target. there were no other cars but them so there was definitely something wrong. "I think he's also being followed by this other car Fae." Elijas hands were shaking on the steering wheel since he didn't feel comfortable, but he hopes Fae doesn't notice that.

" I think he know he is being followed by this other car." she answers .

"what do you mean?"

" it's just his bodyguards I guess. he must know his brother is trying to follow him" just as she finishes her sentence Wallices car stop's along with the other car. they see Wallice ,the man they were following, get out in the middle of the road .he doesn't bother parking the car somewhere where there is no traffic since there is no cars, and starts heading towards them.

"oh god, oh god he caught onto us." Elija says acting as if he doesn't see the man. the man stands in front of the passenger seat next to Elija ,and before Elija could lock the doors, the man just opened the passenger seat and sat in like it was his car.

they stayed silent as they didn't know what to say and just when Eilja opens his mouth he gets cut off by the man. " my brother sent you here but did you ever wonder why?"

Fae and Elija stay still for a while. the man already knows everything. they just shake their head 'no' to indicate they haven't thought why they were sent here. the man starts to talk again." you fucking idiots. you could be ruining someone's life right now but you didn't even stop to fathom that ." he makes Elija shiver at the seriousness in his voice but confused as to why he started talking like that.

" time is my enemy nowadays you know. every time I try to do something it mocks me and tells me I don't have time to do anything I want anymore and that it's too late for me to make up for what I did. or its too late to be a great example for my children." the mans voice cracked once he thinks of his children.

"Everybody has a chance in life but only once. all you have to do is live it like you want, right? its the simplest task, but when you're father forces you to work under something you could never see yourself doing its unfair don't you think? so I left the company. only to be replaced with a better version of me. " he pauses for a second and looks at Elija he had a pitiful look in his eyes and sympathy was radiating off of him, but when he looks at Fae he sees her unfazed . he sees his brother in her look .

"when everyone screamed to me how useless I was compared to him I would hate him even more but that hate channeled through me only for me to end up hating myself instead."

"but your doing what you love to do now right. and besides not everybody gets to do what they like and you just have to accept that fact even if you don't like it." Fae blurts out .

"yeah but you got out of your fathers chains right? isn't that enough for you?" Elija says trying to seem optimistic as he faces him to have a clear look at his face.

" I'm not working under the company anymore ,but being replaced so easily made me feel like a puppet." Fae and Elija didn't make an effort to stop him anymore. they felt like they understood the feeling of being replaced. for Elija he felt like uncle peter replaced yoenbuk with him even though he and peter will never have the same relationship, and for Fae was when she was replaced by her cousin. when everyone would tell her that her father takes him everywhere as if the boy is his son.

" that lonely feeling left a disturbing taste and that's when I experienced what I'm feeling now. now they call me the useless son huh." he punches the space in front of him and blood replaced his knuckles. "I'm thirty nine and I have kids. I don't want them to look at their father like a failure. the young me might have been foolish and wanted to get away from dad, but because of him I can't find a job to support my kids .so please, I feel like if I go back to talk to my brother he would end up making things worse for me. so please leave."

Elija reached his hand out to pat the guy but he heard the sound he dreaded the most. the phone was ringing again. "oh, no man YOU need to leave immediately ." he said.

" answer the phone. is it my brother please let me talk to him if he's so persistant."

"no it's not but you really need to...." he couldn't hear the phone any more. And just like that a blinding light came from each mirror in the car blinding them as they saw a spear form out and pierce through wallice . Fae slowly looks up to see Elija's face. It was full of horror, dismay, apprehension. He lets out a scream as his body riches back towards the car handle. He opens the door and falls on his back and crawls away from the car as he breaths heavily.

Fae looks over to see the limb body of the man who was once alive. The bodyguards from the other car got out and called the police after spotting the body.

Later on the police come by with the ambulance. both Fae and Elija knew exactly what it was. it was because they didn't answer the phone, but how can they explain such a thing?

As the sun came up Elija caught Fae just starring at the body. It was unsettling to say the least but he was busy explaining what happened to the police as he kept the phone detail out of the way. They didn't have energy to do anything, but all they knew was that the man died without achieving even an ounce of self respect or self worth because of them. he died leaving his kids to fend on their own and their mother would become a widow.

they thought what they were doing was right but they ended up ruining everything.

And that's what Elija couldn't stop thinking about for the rest of the day. of how many bodies lay limb in their grave because of him right now.
