~Chapter Eleven~

Miki froze.

Oaka's eyes flashed dark, making Miki wonder.

Enzo interrupted his thoughts. "Dude, what are you guys doing?"

Oaka looked angry at Miki for a moment, making him suddenly fearful.

*Am I safe with them?* He thought.

She flicked her hair off her shoulder. "We're fine." She said it in a menacing way, as if she were glaring at Miki with words.

Miki slowly followed. His minds swirled, lapping up and away like waves. Could he truly trust them?

Miki couldn't sleep the whole night. He kept thinking about Oaka.

Just when they met she was friendly and nice. But now she seemed as if she were... evil.

Miki padded out into the open of the arena, away from under the bleachers where they were sleeping.

He shook his thoughts away, focusing on being alert form outside.

Outside of the walls, smoke clouded the air, making the air feel polluted. Red lights swarmed around, sirens sounding.

Miki took a close look at the armored walls.

They were unbelievably tall, thick and heavily armored. Metal surrounded it, huge spikes on the top.

Miki has to stop them from sending Daigo up there.

He would either die from getting caught across the wall, or from the high altitude of the wall.

The little owl had no idea what they were putting him through, and the grizzly and lynx had the power to kill Miki if he took one wrong step.

Miki swallowed. They surely wouldn't kill him, would they?

The probability of Daigo making it over was low, and if Miki couldn't save him, then it was game over.

"What are you doing?" Miki completely froze at the lynx's voice.

*I'm sorry, Kakoa.* Miki thought miserably.

"Don't plan to escape. Our plan is perfect, and it'll work." Oaka walked up to Miki, her breath suddenly feeling cold against Miki's skin.

"What's gotten into you?" Miki spoke, daring to turn to her.

It seemed that she tensed. "Do you really want to question me?" She growled.

"You're sending your poor cousin to die." Miki said.

"That's not my problem. Besides, I've lost more than you can count. What's the matter with losing one useless soul anyway?" She sneered.

In the dark Miki could see a faint slash of desperation in her gaze. It flashed away, leaving cold anger.

"You don't mean that." Miki was hurt.

Daigo was so young. How could they just do that without caring?

"Would you rather have us send YOU?" She snarled, her lynx form appearing.

She scoffed, a deep purr rising in her chest. "We don't need you. You're just in the way anyway." She unsheathed her claws, white glinting in the moonlight.

Miki took a step back, wincing as he felt a vine entangle him.

"Weak." She sneered. She lurked closer, her muzzle close to his chin.

Before Miki could change into his wolf form, she drew a paw over his cheek. Her claws seared pain through his face.

Blood dripped down; it wasn't a scratch, it was a slash. Waterfalls of scarlet pooled down, making the dry grass sticky with red.

"We are going with this plan, and you won't interfere." She snarled, stepping backwards. She lost her balance a little, staggering around. She straightened.

"Finish him." A small voice that Miki didn't recognize seemed to say.

Miki stiffened as he realized it came from Oaka.
