On the verge of death, she was saved by Lars who went after her and together, they will uncover a sinister truth that has been hiding under Ataxia all these years. Old allies will reveal themselves, and villains will be unmasked. As Eira and Lars's relationship deepens and burns passionately, they will have a decision to make — remain under Ataxia's rule forever or break their bonds and regain the freedom that was stolen from them.

“Why did you save me?” she blurted out. “Shouldn’t you be happy if I die? I betrayed you! You should be mad at me, not treating me like this!”

Lars trapped her face in his hand, forcing her chin up as her teary eyes aligned with his. “Listen carefully, Eira. Yes, I was hurt and upset when I found out that you left just like that. You not only betrayed me, but you also betrayed the entire unit. You put everyone at risk with your selfish recklessness.”

Shame filled her.

“But you are still the woman I love, and I promised to protect you. No matter what happens, I will always protect you.” He released her, rising to his feet with her in his arms. “Don’t think that it means that I have forgiven you. I am still very angry with you.”

She opened her mouth to speak but suddenly, a pulse fluttered against her chest. 

“What’s wrong?” Lars demanded when she turned pale, her eyes dropping to her chest. 

Fingers trembling, Eira wondered if she was doing the right thing. She had to know what this ‘cub’ was. How attached was it to her body? She touched its soft, smooth back – like warm velvet. Her hand pulled back when it twitched. 
A soft squeak startled them both. 

Gingerly, she returned her hand to its back, and this time, she connected with it. Behind the pale pink lids, its eyeballs shifted around before they opened and stared into her own. 

{Mommy.}

“Oh, fuck me.” Eira fainted for the first time in twenty-five years.

As I mentioned before, PREDATION is one of the few novels that I put a lot of thought process into, like the character profiles — their childhood or trauma, strengths, weaknesses, outstanding behaviour etc and the predator profiles — their natures, habitat, killing habit, abilities etc. I even drew out a map of this fictional world in order to help me plan and keep track of my plots. I admit, sometimes I do forget, and drawing it out along with research from talented 3D fantasy landscape artists helped me big time.


Honestly, if I could be a kickass heroine living in a fantasy-dystopian world? Sign me up anytime. I'll take that over crunching numbers or sitting behind a desk from 9am-6pm. Zzzz.


Moving on, for Eira, I scrambled up a fictional dialect for her. It wasn't hard because I based a few of the Qeathan words on my national language which sounded foreign enough. Haha. Overall, I had fun writing this story, I was quite sad to see this end and was contemplating on more than one special epilogue featuring Eira and Lars's daughter but then I had a new idea for a new story and my focus shifted.
