Chapter 62

After a few minutes, the butler suddenly heard of an ethereal sound coming from Toren's body.

He lifted his head up and was astonished to see an animated ghost-like entity struggling to come out from the boy's body.

Soon, Toren's soul completely got out of the fleshy shell and faced his bewildered butler.

"You can see me, can't you?"

After a few seconds of flabbergasted quietness, the butler vehemently nodded. "Y-Yes," He stammered. "I can see you clearly!"

Toren pointed at the beaded necklace hanging from his neck down to his chest and recognized the shaman item from Madam Lumen's grave.

"You must always wear that from now on," Toren demanded. "Else, you shall not be able to see, hear, or feel me. We must leave my body here and let the town discover that I am officially dead. I still have things to do, so until then, my soul will not vanish."

"But where should we go from here now, Toren? The headquarters are burned down and the rebels are still camping from outside! We certainly cannot enter or stay there anymore."

"We shall go to the En family's household. That was where I used to reside."

Toren stated the location of the block and village, which his butler immediately recognized. When they arrived at the house, the butler was given permission to enter after informing the colonist soldiers guarding it that he is a guest from En family's second son Toren.

They have acknowledged the butler's knowledge about the second son and his emblem from the headquarters. Hence, they deemed his words legitimate.

Toren's soul is unseen and unheard by mortals without the shaman item, so he easily passed through there.

Meanwhile, Coen had been imprisoned at the dungeon after murdering the boy that was from the emperor's jurisdiction.

A worker from the magistrate began questioning him for it, but Coen only replied like a madman, insisting Toren's betrayal against their country.

He was continuously hollering and yelling as if some lunatic ghost had permeated inside him.

He was narrating some absurd details of Toren's alleged betrayal and what he had done, while claiming that he conceived those from his nightmares.

At each passing second, his claims and statements were getting more and more ridiculous and crazy that the magistrate decided to lock him up longer while investigating his previous whereabouts.

They have gathered up information regarding his identity and further questions which focused on him made them conclude that Coen was in fact a high official member of the secret organization. The magistrate had condemned him guilty as soon as the evidence was laid out.

His routines and daily lifestyles had been mapped clearly because of the investigation.

On the other hand, Toren began recovering himself from psychological damage caused by his supposed death.

The gunshot was still lingering around his ears, ringing heavily with reverberating echoes across his heartstrings.

It was quite shocking too.

The butler had prepared himself some food to eat as it had been quite a long day.

That night, he was permitted to sleep in their empty room while Toren decided to rest in the underground room.

He left the time on his body to decide when they must resume their work.

Toren was quite hesitant when he had finally drifted to his own unconsciousness.

He is currently standing before the gates of the otherworld.

On the other side would definitely be the flowerbeds – the eternal garden paradise and most likely, his mother would be there too.

Airen always loved staying in the middle of chrysanthemum as if they were the spaces of hope.

The ground for her own shelter.

He knew how beautiful she would look especially now that it had been long since their meetup and now that he had died.

And yet, even with such lush temptations, he decided not to enter the otherworld.

He stayed in the darkness encapsulating him and refused to cross beyond his own lane.
