Chapter 67

The next morning, the butler was immediately greeted with pleasant news after their breakfast.

His service was being solicited at the newly established headquarters at a different village.

The renewal which happened overnight was only possible with the colonists' prepared replacement during the rebellion.

They expected as much as having it taken down, so countermeasures were immediately carried out.

The butler accepted the service renewal too, so he began packing some things to be brought.

Toren only watched him for his preparation.

"You should follow me over there," The butler whispered to him. "I shall resume serving you while gathering information from the newly established headquarters, so do not worry."

"Are you sure that you are still willing to serve despite my current state?" Toren worriedly asked.

"Of course, Toren! I am assigned to serve you, so I must fulfill my duty as a servant until your soul vanishes." He grabbed the beaded necklace, still hanging over him.

Soon, they departed from the captain's residence and were led towards a castle located at the vanguard area of the west border village.

The butler was welcomed in by a female maid after presenting his emblem and was brought to a private room.

There were only a few male butlers as most of the men from their country had joined the military, so he was privileged to such services, while female servants were gathered in a larger room together.

The butler immediately unpacked his belongings that he got from the En family's residence and groomed his room neatly.

When the butler was called to finally serve the emperor, Toren could not sit idly, so he went back to the En family's household.

He collected his paintings that were stocked in the underground room and hid all of them inside a tiny cupboard.

He neatly folded some blank canvas sheets, cleaned the brushes, and packed them all inside a bag.

Finally, he put all his materials above his artworks and locked the trapdoor to prevent the colonists from finding the secret room while they were roaming for random inspections.

Toren would be the only one allowed there as he could easily pass through floors and walls with his invisible spirit now. After fixing everything and preserving his works with his personal materials, he returned to the headquarters castle late in the afternoon to check on his servant.

When he had arrived there, the butler was not in his room, so Toren searched for the spacious interior.

He observed the soldiers guarding in and out of the establishment, constantly checking for intruders and rebels that would audaciously enter.

There were few instances in which such a situation had happened while Toren was at the previous establishment and he doubted anyone would attempt to do the same in the castle.

The establishment and the troops guarding in and out were all too intimidating.

Even an ant would have a difficult time permeating the castle.

Toren wondered if he would still be welcomed had he remained alive as his painter.

Soon, he saw a huge room at the topmost floor guarded by two robust warriors where the emperor stayed. He passed through the walls and saw both the emperor and the butler having an intimate conversation in the huge, quiet room.

The interior walls were washed with light purple shade and the pillars indented at each corner were embellished with flowery designs.

The marble floors were patterned with purple and glass motifs too.

Everything around the room screamed royalty and highness.
