Dealing With Monsoon For Good

Chapter 238: Dealing With Monsoon For Good

A bit deeper into the dark cave, they found the vast void.

"So, we are doing this. Are you ready?" Pepo asked Junk as they ventured into the dungeon. They had only traversed into only a couple rooms before finally arriving at one that was much larger, any of the other rooms. This room they were in right now began with a cliff and ended with a chute that was most-likely fatal if someone… Anyone was to fall from it. The pumpkin woman and the demon knight were right at the entrance of the room where the cliff was. They could easily look down and see how high it was. From their point of view, the chute was two-hundred feet high, at the very least.

"Nah. I'm not doing any of this," Junk replied to her

"Well, what do you mean? You don't want to continue?"

"I'm through doing this dungeon crawling, this thing."

"You're done? Well, you don't want to move forward?"

"I'm not going to be playing this game by the rules. I'm not going to travel from room to room and fall into some kind of trap that Monsoon is planning for us. I'm doing my thing," he told her.

"And what is that going to be, exactly? We have to go through those rooms to make it to him. I can feel his energy, but he's still pretty far. There is nothing else we can do for now," she told him. Pepo made a decent point. Lord Monsoon was indeed in this cave based on the energy signature she was feeling, but they still had to go through all the rooms in order to find him in this dark dungeon. Pepo had no idea what the stubborn Minotaur could possibly have in mind. He came across as totally impatient to her. Which he was.

"Watch me," Junk replied to her, smiling. He readied himself, stretched out a bit right before pulling his battle ax out of his back and suddenly swung at one wall right next to him. After one battle ax swing, he made a huge crack in the wall.

"What are you doing?" Pepo followed him and asked him.

"Watch me," Junk repeated. Then, another swing. Another swing. More cracks were being made into the wall into which the hellish knight was ultimately able to create a huge hole into it. Some kind of door.

"No! I'm serious! You are making way too much noise! You are going to get us detected by Monsoon and his forces! You have to stop right now!" Pepo was both attempting to shout at the same time as whispering in order to keep the noise to a minimum, but in all honesty, her whispers were pretty useful with Junk being involved.

"I am, too!" He said to her as he continued swinging at the wall. When Junk was done, there was a huge crevasse into the wall. They could now see on the other side of the wall: There was a corridor on the other side of it. Now, it wasn't made for walking through it, it wasn't some kind of hidden passage, it was simply a crack on the outer side of the room. Junk had no intention to be using the regular rooms of the cave. Instead, he was going to make his own rooms in the dungeon. Pepo had never seen anything like this.

"What are you doing…?" She asked him in complete shock.

"Are you coming or not?" He looked at her over his shoulder.

"..." Pepo adorable cocked her head to the side.

Saving a bunch of time, the demon knight and the pumpkin woman were successfully able to travel through the cave much faster than would have been the case normally. Following the magical energy signature of Lord Monsoon with the help of Pepo's abilities, they made it to the right room. Currently located above the cave room where they needed to be, Junk swung his fierce battle ax a couple more times to make a room in the ceiling of the room they wished to get in. Rocks and dust were flying everywhere. Then, the demon knight heroically jumped through the hole and dropped into the room. Meanwhile, Pepo was still upstairs. She was crawling on her four and leaning forward while looking through the hole. Looking at Junk downstairs. She wasn't too certain if she could make that jump like Junk just did. She was scared to make it. She was trembling above the room. When the dust settled a bit, Junk finally stood up and looked up at her through the hole he had made into the ceiling.

"Your turn!" He shouted at her. Hurried her up a bit.

"I can't… If I jump like you, I am going to break my little, pumpkin legs… I can't do it…" She slowly explained to him.

"Just jump, and I'll catch you, okay?" He reassured her.

"Okay… There I go…! I'm jumping!" And then, Pepo did. She jumped through the hole. Junk easily caught her with his strong arms. Catching her by surprise by how smooth he managed to catch her. She cuddled with him while being maintained in his arms.

"Let's go now," he kept her in his arms as he moved deeper into the room with her. When they traversed from one side of the room to another, they passed through a cloud of shadows, which separated the room in two in different halves. When they came across the dark cloud and moved on to the other side of the room, they discovered where Lord Monsoon was all this time: This room was some kind of alchemy lab, with many tables covered with different alchemist kits and a bunch of old books.

When they first saw him, he was in the middle of working on a project. Levitating in the air right above him, there were four balls of light. One of them was yellow. One of them was red. Another one of them was green. And the last one was blue. The balls of light shun bright in the dark room, which caught the attention of the demon knight and the pumpkin patch cultivator.

Lord Monsoon was the one who maintained the balls of light levitating in the air like this.

Eventually, he turned around…

… Already of Junk and Pepo's presence.

"You're too late."
