Chapter 072

The Red Gloves unit and Alvin all went to the nearby Myriad Star Cathedral, where Gordon managed to get a private room to talk about the mission.

"Well, it seems we have killed 4 Pyromaniacs, 3 Provokers, and 8 Hunters. That is good. The Zmanger Gang won't be recovering for a while" said Gordon pleased. "And Alvin, you did an especially amazing job. I noticed you were going into the storage? I first thought that Bakersfield launched that fireball to finish you. But later, he did not seem to recognise you. So he is unlikely to have seen you enter in there. So he must have been trying to hide something. What did you see in there?" asked Gordon.

Knowing that he had been spotted going into the storage, Alvin knew he had to share the loot he received. The other members of the mission who also fought hard did not have any gains, as they were forced to return the Beyonder characteristics.

If he refused to share, all the good impressions he had built would vanish. So he emptied his pockets, throwing everything he had onto the table.

"That's quite a haul" exclaimed Hannah.

"It was whatever I could fit into my pockets in the short amount of time I had before the fireball blew everything up" said Alvin, as he began describing everything he saw in the storage.

"Child of Flames?" Was that what Bakersfield was trying to conceal?" wondered Gordon aloud. He then said, "I seem to have heard of it, but I am not completely sure. I will report it to the higher-ups"

"Well, what do we do with all these?" asked Rico, looking at the pile of random Beyonder items on the table"

"I think Alvin and the Captain deserve the 1/4th each. We should all divide the rest" proposed Donald, to which the others agreed. They then divided up the items. Alvin grabbed a Sphinx's Brain, which was apparently a Sequence 6 material, hence Alvin figured it was a main material for the Conspirator potion. He also grabbed a Flame of Pure Yang and Dense Cuboid Pus.

Gordon took the other Sphinx's brain , and a mystical item. The others divided what was left.

"Well then. That's was a successful operation. I expect you all to write a mission report as per protocol and have it sent to me within a week. Our actions against the Zmanger Gang are over, so we needn't bother the few that remain unless necessary, so as to not make the ambassador completely mad" said Gordon clapping his hands.

"Hey Alvin? You should be far from Sequence 6 right? It is difficult to store that ingredient you have on you. If you want to get rid of it and buy something else, there I know a great place to do so. It is a gathering that is endorsed and hosted by the three churches in Loen. Most of the attendees are official Beyonders from the three churches who want to exchange stuff. No unofficial Beyoders who aren't trusted by the official Beyonders and work for them in some capacity are invited. So it is definitely a trustable place. It takes place on the 1st of every month. Do you want to come with us then?" asked Hannah as they were leaving.

"Of course. I would love to come with all of you" said Alvin, after which they decided on the time and place they would meet 3 days later.

The positive impression he had left them previously, and then by unhesitatingly putting up the stuff he had gotten for distribution was showing its positive effects, as he was initially growing more involved with the members of the Red Gloves unit captained by Gordon.

He hoped that eventually, his relationship and famialrity with the group would assist him.

As they were all leaving, Alvin walked up to Gordon and asked, "Captain? I wish to keep the headband for another night, and borrow the Mirror of Malicious Thoughts for tomorrow. Is that okay?" asked Alvin.

The headband was insurance against the Hunter Pathway Spectre, and the part of a plan he prepared using tonight as an inspiration. The Mirror of Malicious Thoughts was for something he would do the next day if he survived today's hunt.

Gordon raised his eyebrows, and said, "Judging by how you took the main ingredients for the Pyromaniac potion instead of the one's for Provoker, I can guess you have already become a Provoker. I don't mind you having adventures on the side. But you should make sure that whatever incidents you cause aren't public, and cause harm to ordinary people. Got it?" he asked.

After Alvin promised that he would keep that in mind, Gordon nodded, and left.

He then went to back to his house, and picked up the Red Castle. He then went to a remote building, which was one of the safe houses he had purchased. There, he quickly made the Pyromaniac potion with the materials he just had, and the supplementary ingredients he and already prepared.

Afterwards, he drank the potion. Just like last time, he heard and saw all sorts of strange things. After a while, he started to get a hold of himself. He held up his hand, and a wisp of flame started dancing around in his palms.

Alvin recalled all the time he set fires and used it to his advantage, right from the one to his manor, to the one he set today. As he recalled all the instances, he felt his Pyromaniac potion rapidly digesting.

It digested about halfway, and then stopped.

"I can now freely control fires, though I need some practice to morph it expertly. My physical strength, senses, awareness, and intuition have all received a boost. I have gotten the setting of fires, usage of flames, and fighting in a flaming environment down, which are important parts of the Pyromaniac's powers. Now all I need to comprehend is the expert control of fire, and maybe something else of that regard, and I should be able to digest the potion" thought Alvin.

Afterwards, he started preparing for his skirmish with the Spectre, and after he felt satisfied, he opened the Red Castle and dove into it.
