Chapter 076

Shortly before dawn, when he was about to leave, he got called in urgently by the elder who was his backer. Knowing that he still had some time left, he went to see the elder.

"I need you to do something for our family. The elders are worried about the members of the expedition, especially Clyde, having nefarious thoughts. So they commissioned me to find a trusted person to entrust a failsafe with" he said, handing Frederick a beautiful red sword, which he instantly recognised as the Sword of Dominance, one of the holy artefacts of their clan.

"This sword has a connection with the red box. Whenever someone of our pathway holds it, he can pinpoint the location of the red box if it is nearby. Plus, it has immense power, that can allow you to easily contend with someone above your Sequence. Use this to put Clyde in place if he has any nefarious thoughts. Also, you are to personally give this the Honourable Red Angel in Backlund" said the elder.

Excited at being chosen for the mission that required a trusted person and the chance to personally meet the Honorable Red Angel, Frederick happily agreed.

Soon, the four of them were at the edge of the realm, near the boundary wall. The three elders appeared, and one of them used a wide blanket to cover them briefly. He then zoomed inside, with black tendrils visible all over him.

"That is the negative effect of the mystical item. He will be fine after a while. Here is the formation you must put in the telegraph office. Remember, unless necessary, do not delay your trip to Backlund. And also, try not to have any contact with the churches out there. Avoid them whenever possible" said another elder. Then, they proceeded to channel their power into the barrier and create a small opening. "Go!" he yelled, hearing which the four of them leapt out of the barrier, which then closed.

A week later, Frederik was standing at the edge of the boat, looking out into the huge body of water he had never seen before, called the sea.

According to plan, they sneaked into the city in the middle of Binsy, and slowly gathered information. They also managed to contact the believer in the telegraph office, and set up the formation in there. In the earlier stages, many people discovered their abnormalities. But Clyde used the Self Mirror to make them ignore those abnormalities.

After that, they managed to find out about a cargo ship devoid of too many people going towards Pritz Harbour, and sneaked abroad it.

According to what they had learnt, they would reach the so called Pritz Harbour in 3 days. From there, they could use either the steam train or a steamboat to reach Backlund in two more days.

This was the last day on the ship, and they would reach Pritz Harbour in less than 1 day.

All the while, Richard was behaving more and more arrogantly, even opposing Clyde, the de facto leader a few times. Victor was his usual quiet self, while Clyde showed the toughness beneath his gentle exterior and kept firm control of the group.

Frederick had held the Sword of Dominance in his hand, and whenever he did, he had a strong instinct to open the red box, by using it as a key. He managed to restrain himself, but that was only because he didn't want he, who had just shown off his amazing strength, to turn hostile.

Frederick was sitting alone on the deck, as increasing tension between Richard and Clyde, and the existing tension he had with Richard, who he partly blamed for the death of his father and a lot of other sufferings he experienced in the village. He figured that in less than 2 days, the mission would be complete, and the whole thing would be over.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around to see Victor walking up to him.

Frederick politely greeted the approaching Victor and went back to staring at the sea.

"I have a weird feeling about this whole mission" said Victor.

"What do you mean?" asked Frederick.

"Well, for one, while we all weren't exactly friends back in that closed realm, we were okay. But now, we are growing increasingly distant. Clyde seems to have his guard up against all of us for some reason. Richard seems arrogant, as if he knows something we don't. Honestly, you have too are behaving like him. It's just that your arrogance is more concealed" said Victor.

Frederick was surprised. But after some thinking, he realised that he was feeling superior to the others because he was personally entrusted with a holy artefact. But then, he wondered if the reason for Richard's arrogance was because he was entrusted with a holy artefact too. As a Conspirer, it wasn't difficult for him to put two and two together.

"Could it be the both of us were entrusted with one each of the holy artefact? And Clyde was warned to beware of us? Why? So that they could ensure that none of us would open the red box before we reached Backlund? Is there a secret inside the red box which they do not want us to know?" thought Frederick.

He wondered why the elders had to take such roundabout means. He also considered if he should call the other two, tell them his guesses and hash it out.

Ever since he had this guess, his intuition was warning him like crazy, and his intuition warned him that if he didn't resolve this matter, he would not have a good end.

And he increasingly felt that the story of his ancestor being sealed in Backlund, and that the red box they had could unseal 'Him' to be ridiculous based on all the knowledge he had learnt. But he did not think that it would be a great idea to involve Clyde and Richard. All of them being Conspirers, they would probably not believe him. Richard, that hateful fellow would definitely try to join hands with Clyde to deal with him and snatch the Sword of Dominance from him. Clyde, who had probably been warned to beware of him, would assume that this was what he was supposed to beware of.

"Well, I can try a different approach" thought Frederick looking at Victor.
