Class Three was set to receive training on Friday, supervised by two teachers, Halbus and Mrs. Monrietta.
"This is your first training. In Costina, our training will be divided into physical training, magical training, strategy, sparring, and lastly field training," Halbus explained.
"Aside from being your homeroom teacher, I will be teaching you lessons in physical training, strategy, sparring, and field training. As for Mrs. Monrietta, she will teach you magical training, strategy, sparring, and field training as well."
"I am now going to explain the activities I have mentioned. You all should be familiar with the first four pieces of training. As for field training, it means we will go outside and apply what we have learned in fighting against monsters."
Halbus waited for a moment as he looked at the students, who whispered with each other upon hearing that they would have to fight monsters. He had expected this. Some might feel scared, some would be excited, and some would be calm, for whatever reason they had.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Monrietta and I will keep an eye on you all throughout the field training, and you will all be given a bracelet that will function as a communicator and a rescue signal."
"For today, we will do physical training and magical training. Afterwards, we will have a strategy lesson. As for tomorrow, we will do sparring and team battles. Understood?"
"Yes, Sir!"
"Now! Everyone go to the training field!"
{'Field training, training field,'} Kyle chuckled softly.
.
At the training field, they started the physical training with a warm-up. After that, they then ran around the field until Halbus told them to stop. Most of the students were prepared for this, but there were those with poor physical constitutions, who had to stop running due to exhaustion. Wanda was one such case. She had probably ignored much of her physical training owing to her incredible aptitude in magic.
As time passed, one by one, the running students had to stop due to exhaustion. In the end, only a few people with good physical fitness continued to run. Yet, they gradually did show signs of exhaustion. However, it was a different case for Ninia. To her, this kind of training was nothing. As for Kyle, he put himself in the position of a struggling student. He was among the last survivors, but he was the weakest. The main leaders were Ninia, Eric, Friena, and someone named Goldric.
"All right! Stop!" Halbus blew on his whistle, and they finally stopped running. Kyle immediately fell down to the ground, panting, trying to catch his breath.
"I'm going to die," he whispered.
"I've witnessed your perseverance. I must say that you all exceeded my expectations, " Halbus stated. He had predicted which kids would be able to run for an extended period of time and which would not. So far, they had lived up to his expectations, which was a disappointment. It would have been preferable if they had managed to outperform his expectations.
"Rest for thirty minutes, then we'll resume our training." The students were happy with this. Kyle, on the other hand, was not pleased. He wished he had more time to relax because his resting time was shorter compared with those who had stopped earlier.
{'This is not fair!'} he protested in his mind. Not that he would voice it out though. What good would it bring? Besides, it wasn't that significant.
.
"Hey, don't lay there," Friena kicked the left side of his abdomen. Kyle grunted in annoyance and responded.
"I can lay anywhere I want."
"Hm, so you want to be stomped?" Friena raised her foot while grinning.
"This madwoman!" Kyle quickly got up with a tick mark on his forehead. "Is there a time when you are not resorting to a physical threat?!"
"But if I don't do that, you won't get up or do anything," Friena mocked him with an innocent expression.
"Damn, that's true …. Enough with that innocent look! No one believes that you are an innocent lady!"
"Heh, at least they will believe you are the bad guy," Friena snickered again. Kyle let out a loud sigh of exasperation as he confronted Friena.
.
"Kyle, how was Joshua's training?" Eric approached.
"Ah? He isn't bad, but to make sure he wins, he needs to be polished a lot," Kyle replied.
"Today we will also hear the decision from Class Seven. Should we tell them about Joshua?"
"No," Kyle shook his head. "They might think we are playing them." Although it was somewhat true. "Let's just say that the challenge will happen two weeks later and that there probably will be three challengers and their potential candidates. Then ask them who will fight Class Two. How about that?"
Eric grinned when he heard this. "It's good; keep up the good job," he said as he walked away. Kyle had the impression that out of nowhere, Eric had appeared to become his supervisor.
"Tsk! He acts anyway he wants," Friena muttered in annoyance. "He is not even the Class President yet."
"Well, unofficially, he is," Kyle responded. He, on the other hand, didn't care. Being a Class President or someone in a position of authority might cause problems. It didn't imply he wanted to avoid responsibilities; it just meant that he wanted a normal work with no extraneous stress. However, he was nervous for some reason. He wouldn't rise to a position of power, would he?
.
After thirty minutes of rest, they went on to do more physical training, such as jumping, weight lifting, stair climbing, push-ups, squats, sit-ups, pull-ups, and so on. In short, their bodies were pushed to the limit, leaving them sore and aching.
"All right, training is over!" Halbus announced, and the kids' faces lit up with relief. "Don't forget to get plenty of rest, take a bath, and have your lunch, since you guys will have magic training after lunch." Hearing this, their spirit deflated, since they had to go through another training session.
It was still a long time before lunch, so there was plenty of time to relax. Kyle went back to his room and took a bath, and afterwards, he headed to the canteen to buy snacks. He was hungry after the exhausting training, and he wasn't alone, others from his class also went to get some snacks to replenish their energy.
"Now that we have some downtime, Kyle, could you tell us about your mana breathing?" Ozi was curious. Kyle was currently hanging out with Ozi, Tucker, and Quinton.
"Oh sure, but not in a public like this without privacy. Let's go to the training room, shall we?" As a result, they went there.
.
"To breathe mana into our bodies through pores, we must force it out. It is easier to have someone to open the pores for you," Kyle told the trio who sat on the floor in a meditation position. They had taken off their shirts.
"For now, I'll only open ten percent of your pores," while saying this, he put his both hands on Ozi's and Tucker's backs. If he had another hand, he could do three at once.
"Careful, it will shock you, and the moment the mana is entering your body, you have to control it," Kyle explained. Unlike breathing through the nose or mouth, breathing through pores had no medium that acted as the limit on how much mana could enter someone's body. It required the person to learn how to control their pores consciously.
Kyle channeled his mana into them and opened the selected pores. Immediately, both Ozi and Tucker felt a surge of mana entering their bodies, and it went beyond their control.
"Control it!" Kyle commanded. "Release the mana outside to keep yourself from being overloaded! Try to reach the pores and close them!" Kyle injected his mana into them and said. "Feel my mana, I'll guide you!"
After several seconds, both Ozi and Tucker had managed to close their pores, and exhaled in relief.
"Phew ... that was a rush," Ozi commented. "I'm glad it is only ten percent, if all of the pores were opened, I think I'd have been blown up," he added.
"Yeah," Tucker agreed.
"Now, you guys need to learn how to open the pores and absorb the mana slowly. Next, are you ready, Quin?" Kyle turned towards Quinton.
"Yeah, I'm ready," Quinton looked nervous though. He had seen the expressions on both Ozi and Tucker. It was quite a sight to see their frowns and the sweat on their faces.
Kyle did the same with Quinton, but unlike the other two, Quinton was quick to act and seized control of his mana. It was thanks to his observation first and having better mana control.
"Now, you guys have better mana regeneration, but it won't be effective until you guys have higher mana control, so don't go opening the pores until you are confident about controlling it perfectly." The trio nodded at Kyle's words. "You can use the free time to train, and I can help by observing you guys."
"No," Ozi shook his head. "I want to rest. I don't think I'd be ready for the magic training if I'm physically and spiritually exhausted," he added.
"Yeah, how about tomorrow?" Tucker suggested.
"Sure, but let's do it early in the morning. I have something to do later on," The three classmates agreed to this.
