Arc 2: Chapter 4

The next day.

.

Class Three once again had a meeting.

.

"I received word from the Teacher that we will go for field training this week," Eric said.

"Eh, so soon?!"

Eric nodded, "The teacher deemed us that we are good enough to go. It will take place on Saturday. So, if you guys have an appointment by that day, then please cancel it if it's not urgent."

There were a lot of groans that came from his fellows. They had to sacrifice their weekend and cancel their plans.

"Where do we go?" Friena asked, leaning on her chair.

"Not far, it is the Trutam forest," Eric replied. Trutam forest wasn't far from Suroff, but it might take a few hours to get there. The forest didn't have a lot of monsters, but dangerous animals were around.

"The assignment?" Bianca asked.

"We are told to reduce the number of monsters. There is a report about the influx of them in the forest. The patrols had confirmed this too already, and we were going to help them," patrols usually went around outside of the city to keep up the safety. They were also tasked to maintain the number of monsters if a sudden increase had happened. Costina Academy could make a deal with the government to have their students participate in their activity as a learning experience.

"Bianca, prepare the list for our preparations. While Trutam forest is considered to be safe for us, we have to prepare for the worse. You will oversee the preparation," Eric commanded.

"Yes!" Bianca gave a mock salute.

"Kyle, I would like you to gather information about Trutam, there should be one in your club, right?"

"I think so? I have to ask Senior first," Kyle replied with one hand supporting his face.

"Everyone please does prepare the basic necessities for one day outdoor. We have four days to prepare and starting from now. Tonight we will discuss deeper and practice for the field training."

{'Eric is truly serious,'} Kyle whistled in his mind. He was impressed with Eric, who took command of their class and led everyone with ease. Even others didn't question his leadership. However, this field training would test his leadership. After all, training in the safe zone was different from experiencing real danger and situation. If Eric did well in a real situation then he would be a perfect leader for this class because he handled all of them well.

After the meeting ended, Kyle went to the club to get information about Trutam and then back to the dorm. However, on his way, he met Vyn with his two classmates.

"Vyn! Kendrick! Brandon!" he greeted them.

"Kyle," Vyn smiled warmly. Kyle observed Vyn, this person had never shown many expressions. Most of the time smiled warmly and calmly. During that fight, he was silent with a serious expression and only flustered when handling Mina.

{'Well, because of his demeanor, he is quite popular among girls,'} Kyle remembered what he heard from Bianca about male students ranking in regards to their appearance, and Vyn was within the top five.

"Hmm, you guys are going back to the dorm?" Kyle asked while looking in the direction they just came. "From outside?" he guessed.

Vyn nodded. "Yes, we have a study to do, and the teacher allowed us to leave for a moment," he replied.

{'Study, huh? Why do they seem frustrated? I wonder,'} Kyle wanted to ask further, but it might be out of the line at the moment just by looking at their faces. So he stopped thinking about it and smiled. "Well, see you later!" he bid farewell and continued his way to the dorm.

{'I can't help but get a feeling that something is happening with Class Seven,'} Kyle thought while entering the dorm. Carla also said she was reading about Suroff for study, and those three probably returned from Suroff as well. Did they have field training as well? "I guess I should tell Eric about it."

Kyle went to Eric's room. It was one floor above Kyle's room. Kyle's knocked on Eric's room door and waited for a while before the door opened up.

"Kyle?" Eric looked at him with a curious look. This was the first time Kyle visited his room.

"Mind if we talk? Information," Kyle said while glancing inside the room. It seemed like nobody was in the room except Eric.

"To the rooftop?" Eric offered. They could talk inside his room, but his roommate might come at any time. If the information were hush-hush, then it would be better somewhere without disturbance.

"Yeah."

…..

On the rooftop, Kyle checked his surroundings, and once he confirmed that nobody was around, he began to speak.

"Something happened with Class Seven," told Kyle, which aroused Eric's interest.

"How so?"

"I met Mina and Carla before. Carla previously read a book about Suroff even though she is from Suroff. Mina came to pick her up as if she was in a hurry. Then I met Vyn, Kendrick, and Brandon just now. Three of them just returned from outside."

"Outside?" Eric repeated it with curiosity. "How?" Because it was a school day, students couldn't leave the academy premise.

"They got permission from their teacher and said it had to do with their studies. But isn't that weird? I might be reading this too much, but it feels like they are doing something in Suroff."

Eric went in thought. They lacked evidence to be truly confident of it but what Kyle said was making sense. From Carla reading a book about Suroff, despite the fact that she was from Suroff to Vyn and others who returned from outside but what else except from Suroff.

"Keep watching them for now. At the moment, we have to focus on our own field training," Eric concluded.

"Alright," Kyle nodded, he was about to turn his body but then remembered something. "Eric, why don't you make a big meeting?"

"Big meeting?" Eric frowned.

"Yeah, gather the leaders from every class in our year," Kyle continued his idea. "Talk about something and gather information through this. How about it?"

"Seems plausible, but if only the others would agree to, it lacks enticement," Eric replied after giving some thoughts.

"True …. Well, it is not that important for now. Bye!" Kyle left the rooftop, he had stated his business, and there was nothing else to say.

"Don't forget tonight we have a meeting!" Eric quickly shouted, but he didn't receive any response.
