This is home I guess

Tristan immediately used his tablet to unlock the door on their house, confirmed that it was in fact where they both would be staying, both him and Crim stepped through the door and looked around, there was a living area with decent couches, a kitchen two bathrooms a room that was a study, and one bedroom with bunk beds. "Is it just me or does this seem a little bit too nice for first year students?" Tristan asked

"Yeah, it does seem too nice, but who really cares we get privacy from everybody else, and I would assume they plan on us being partners or something like that" Crim said as he started to unpack the little stuff he was allowed to bring. He had brought some extra clothes even though all they would be allowed to wear was the uniforms that were to be found in the closets of their bedroom. Tristan took this time to settle down on the couch and check and see if there was any information on his tablet.

He soon was calling over Crim "Crim you should come look at this" Crim came over and looked as Tristan handed him the tablet, its screen read * Tristan Blaze you have been partnered with Crimson Stien you two have been selected for scout training due to your unique abilities, your entire curriculum will be done in partnership with Crimson, if the pairing works well you two will be deployed together after training making up a special scout squad. The two of you shall report to Instructor Green tomorrow at 0600 at the forest training area, the rest of the day is yours to do as you wish. *

"Well good thing I already like you huh?" Crim laughed as he read it. "I would say we should start getting to know each other but I don't think that will be too much of a problem for us being that I doubt we will ever really be apart from the sounds of it" Tristan thought about it and nodded in agreement. "But I do have a couple of questions for you" Crim said "If you don't mind"

"As long as I can ask a couple about you go for it" Tristan replied

"Well, yah of course, first question; your ability isn't a normal wolf ability, is it? I noticed that when you turn into a wolf your claws are a bit weird for wolf, or any canine in fact. Second question; where in the world did you get that gnarly scar on your face? and last question how can somebody that is only 16 have damn near a full beard, like is there some sort of trick to it because mine is all patchy and barely grows, I am just a bit jealous" Crim asked, barely keeping a straight face after he asked the last question.

"Well, my ability is in fact a little different, I can only tell you if you don't tell anybody else about it" Tristan said.

"Of course" Crim promised, "we will be working together anyways so telling anybody else about it would be like shooting myself in the foot or telling somebody one of my secrets."

"Well, my ability is a wolf ability but if I fight another apex predator it appears I can take an evolution trait from them, I don't really understand it myself, but the claws and the scar on my face came from the same thing, it was a huge black panther that I hunted. and for the beard I got nothing for you there, I have always just grown good facial hair since I turned about 14, it also appears that my ability makes it grow even more."

"Um holy shit there is a lot to unpack there, so your ability can basically evolve?"

"I mean a little bit" Tristan replied

"and a black panther? aren't those things like super sneaky and dangerous, even to ability users big cats can catch them off guard and injure them"

"Yup they sure can" as Tristan pointed at the scar on his face and chuckled

"and your ability helps your beard grow, that isn't fair!" Crim whined as he said it

"My turn to ask questions, and obviously I won't tell anybody any of your secrets either, but to start off, where did your ability come from? I've never seen heard or read about anything like that? Was it a family ability passed down or what?" Tristan asked

"Well, my family is dead, and they didn't have any abilities" Crim said

"Yeah, same for both fronts, at least I think they didn't have any abilities" Tristan replied.

"As far as i know I am the only person with my ability, i think i created it on accident, I was just so mad with my situation in life that i started to do strange things...and out of it my ability happened, By the way I would guess that you are the only one with yours as well, I have never heard of an evolving ability so I would probably keep quiet about that" Crim said very seriously

"Agreed, same with yours I would keep it secret that you basically made it, along with that does it turn you into some sort of ghost? or what, and when you are a 'ghost' can everything pass through you?" Tristan asked

"To my knowledge a ghost would be what I'd say it turns me into, and yeah I haven't found anything that I can't pass through when I turn into a full ghost." Crim replied with a kind of shrug.

"Well guess we are both weird and kind of spooky" Tristan laughed as he sat back on the couch and readied himself to check his system.
