After being told about gathering materials for their weapons Instructor Green gave them the rest of the day off to research what materials they want for their weapons, and where to find them. For both Crim's spear and dagger he wanted a material that he could interact with in his spectral form, which didn't leave him many options. Tristan on the other hand wanted a material that was neutral and had the possibility to allow most abilities to flow through it, but he decided he needed it to be extremely durable to be able to keep up with his growth in the future, a sword is no good if you break it. Tristans materials were relatively easy to find, there was a number of metals or beast bones/horns that would work perfectly for him however Crim's spear was a completely different story. So far, the only material they knew of that wouldn't pass through him was called Ent Metal, and Ent Metal was created by melting the bones of a rare species called Ents and mixing it with some more common materials. The only place that they could be found that wouldn't be a death sentence for the two boys was a wild planet called Tavoor.
Tavoor was completely wild save for one small military outpost. It had a teleporter that they could use so they could be there and back rather quickly, and the planet hand hundreds of different options for Tristan to choose from, between trying to mine some ore, or finding a suitable animal that he could use either bones or horns from. The upside of going here was the large number of options and the fact that there wasn't a war being fought there, the downside was that it was a large planet, and they might have to spend weeks traveling to find what they are looking for.
The informed Green and she was happy with their choice of location and with the Ent Metal for Crim.
"Don't choose to quickly for your swords, there are things that reside on that planet that few know about that would make something spectacular for you to use, if you are okay with an average weapon pick whatever you want wolf boy, but if I was in your shoes, I would search a little deeper." Green told Tristan.
Before the two boys left, she allowed them to borrow a spear and one sword from her, she made it quite clear that they had to be returned. The two boys had no problems with this, they both expected to be working with nothing but their bare hands and their wits.
Both boys prepared a bag of essentials they might need, Tristan brough a decent sized tent, a knife to help butcher whatever animals they might hunt to eat and plenty of water. Crim on the other hand carried their sleeping bags in case they needed them, a little bit of fire starter (To make coffee), coffee beans, and an almost obnoxious number of snares and traps to try and help catch some Ents. They had come up with a plan to get Crim's material first before trying to find something suitable for Tristan, being that Crim should have a harder time and he didn't have the same options.
Both boys knew that going off word wouldn't be a walk in the park, even on earth there are predators that could kill ability users in the wild, and the animals on Tavoor make those animals look like they belong in a petting zoo. Tristan was excited about this; it had been several weeks since he had been able to level up. "The only ways my system progress is through quests it seems and hunting great beasts...or what the system deems a great beast based around my current strength." Tristan thought to himself as he longed to get the notification that informed him of a level up or a completed quest. He had only had the system for just over a month and he already had found the rewards of it to be quite addicting, as well as the surge in strength he got when a stat increased. He made a mental note to check on himself to ensure that he wouldn't lose himself just trying to grind and level up just to get a fix like some sort of addict, if he was to just grind and level up, he wanted it to be because he wanted to get stronger not because he wanted the rush of leveling up.
Both Tristan and Crim were ready they headed towards the teleporter building of the base.
Sensing that Crim was being unusually quiet Tristan decided to try and calm both their nerves by starting a conversation. "You know this will be a good time for us to test your abilities, you will be able to go all out and not worry about who is watching, and I doubt that anything there could actually hurt you."
"I'm not worried about myself at all...for some reason i view you as stronger than me and being able to handle the same fights I could, but other than my instincts telling me that it really doesn't make sense...you are strong for sure, but compared to me you might as well be a normal person" Crim said "No offense"
"Are you actually worried about me?" Tristan asked, "You realize that this planet is almost always dark, and I can all but disappear in the dark, not even you can find me half the time when i choose to go unseen." He gave Crim a convincing argument, and it was true Tristan had practiced with his shadow ability and he could almost escape Instructor Green, which was far more impressive than fighting any know beast on Tavoor.
"You are probably right" Crim replied "but I still worry about you like a little brother or something...If that makes any sense."
"It does, and I appreciate it, but don't get too carried away worrying because I plan on having a good time and experimenting with both our powers while we are out there and seeing if I can gain any more evolution traits like my claws." Tristan said with a look of greed on his face talking about the evolution traits.
They had reached the teleporter and found that it was already ready for them, the two officers running it double checked the coordinates and turned it on for the two boys.
Tristan and Crim looked at each other gave a sly smile each and walked through, leaving earth for the first time.
