The Warm storm

"Lit behind torch,"

It was already 2:10 p.m. when they arrived at the main road where Hei Bao's car was parked. And he had a feeling he knew what was in store for him in the company's conference room. When they arrived at their car, Hao Mingyu said his goodbyes and drove away, as it began to rain heavily. Thank goodness they didn't go barefoot again. They took the newly constructed road. It was a little longer than the shortcut, according to Lianhua, but it was fine.

They are now on their way to the company. Cheung Qi drove as usual, and Hei Bao sat in the back, his legs crisscrossed and sitting like an elegant man. Hei Bao was still clutching the bento box with both hands. Cheung Qi would sneak a peek in the mirror now and then, unaware that Hei Bao, who never took his gaze away from the bento, had already noticed.

"If you want to say something, say it; you're annoying me," Hei Bao said, looking up at Cheung Qi in the mirror.

"Heh, are you going to write that down?" Cheung Qi asked, slightly chuckling.

"Why do you give a damn?" Hei Bao's retort.

"What? Is this your first time receiving a gift? " Cheung Qi inquired, looking in the mirror.

"It's none of your fucking business," Hei Bao said.

"Wah.. You really surprised me there for a moment," Cheung Qi said, clicking his tongue and shaking his head left to right twice.

'I don't like the other person's nonsense and forced responses.'

"When?" Hei Bao inquired.

"When you said, 'Thank you,' that was the first time I heard you say that," Cheung Qi laughed again.

"Shuddup," Hei Bao said, finally looking up and gazing out the window.

Cheung Qi's mind was racing with ideas, and he couldn't figure out what they were. There was a deafening silence around them until Hei Bao broke the ice.

"A'Qi, don't you notice anything odd?" Hei Bao asked, not looking or glancing at him.

"What? What is strange?" Cheung Qi responded.

"That kid from earlier," Hei Bao said.

"Hm? What kid?" Cheung Qi inquired, perplexed.

"Hm? What kid?" Cheung Qi inquired, perplexed. "Oh, you mean, A'Shan?" Cheung Qi remarked, realizing what he had said.

"Yes," Hei Bao replied.

"What about her?" Cheung Qi inquired once more.

"Do you think she looks familiar to you?" Hei Bao inquired. His brows were furrowed, and his gaze was fixed outside the window.

"What? Don't tell me you've seen her before? Oh, please, don't say anything stupid," Cheung Qi said casually.

"Doesn't she resemble Fei Nian?" Hei Bao finally said, without hesitation. Cheung Qi was taken aback when he realized he had accidentally stepped on the brake in the midst of the fast pace. Hei Bao frowned because he had almost dropped the bento box.

"What the fuck?" exclaimed Hei Bao.

"What do you mean?" Cheung Qi inquired solemnly. Fortunately, it was a red light when they came to a stop in the middle of the street.

"Perhaps a'Shan was her child or her little sister," Hei Bao replied, gripping the bento box even tighter.

"This is so fucking messed up; how is everything always related to her?" Cheung Qi exclaimed, frustrated.

"I'm not sure either," Hei Bao admitted.

"It's as if everything is planned and meant to happen," Cheung Qi grumbled. The light turned green again, and he resumed driving after a brief moment.

"We'll find out when the time comes," Hei Bao said calmly.

He sounded calm when he said it, but the truth was that he was nervous. How is this possible now that he has found his mate? He wasn't worried about a war between vampires and wolves someday. He was not afraid to fight. But he was afraid that if the war broke out, he would lose his mate. He was terrified.

They arrived at the company entrance and both felt uneasy as they exited the car. Cheung Qi handed over the car key to someone who parked it, and they took the elevator to the 49th floor, where the conference room was. Hei Bao was carrying his precious bento box, which was wrapped in a pink cloth.

The elevator tinged and came to a stop on the 49th floor. They exited the building and made their way to the conference room. They noticed how the employees became nervous, and how those who had been chatting and laughing earlier were now seated and pretending to be working. They walked past the sleeping individual. Employees exhale a sigh of relief when they notice that their boss did not even glance at the sleeping individual.

But Hei Bao and Cheung Qi, who was following him, both came to a halt. Hei Bao turned around, and Cheung Qi moved aside to make room for him. When their director turned around, the other employees who had been relieved earlier jerked and their breath hitched. Hei Bao approached the sleeping person's desk and knocked twice on the table with his left hand, as he held the bento box in his right.

"Mhnn~"

In his sleep, the person who was sleeping groaned. Hei Bao became irritated, and the employees mentally face-palmed. Their minds are jumbled, and they are all nervous and scared.

'This isn't going to work.'

'Mr. 'The director is a terrifying individual.'

'Man, get your resignation letter ready.'

'Wake up, you snoozy! '

Hei Bao rapped on the desk once more, this time a little harder. The individual appeared to become irritated and furrowed his brow before groaning.

"Mnh! Could you please stop disturbing my sleep?! Fucking bastard!" yelled the person, his eyes half-lidded.

The employees were startled by the sudden shout, so they shifted their gaze to the scene and observed their director's solemn and dark expression. They swallowed a lump in their throat and gave the sleeping person a sorry look. Then they all averted their gaze. Hei Bao's left hand, which he used to knock on the table, curled into a fist as he prayed for his life.

He raised his hand without hesitation and took a handful of the sleeping person's hair. He grips it so tightly that he raises his hand before slamming his head against the table. The sound of something breaking echoed in a silent room because it was so loud. The sleeping individual finally awoke from his slumber. Hei Bao let go of his hair, and the person stood up and raised his head, enraged. His hand was clutching his bleeding nose.

Cheung Qi couldn't get involved in his boss's business, so he just stood on the sidelines, unrooted. When the person raised their heads, they were met with the devil's gaze. Hei Bao frowned at him. He wasn't in a good mood today. Hei Bao smirked at him from the moment he raised his head.

"So it was Team Leader Hong," smirked Hei Bao.

"D-director," the person known as Team Leader Hong stammered in terror. His eyes were wide with surprise. His hands were still clutching his bleeding and fractured nose.

"I was wondering why the team leader isn't here when their workers are sleeping; turns out the so-called "team leader" is the one sleeping, huh?" Hei Bao smirked again.

"D-director.. It's not- I-I'm not.. I'm not sleep—" Team Leader Hong stuttered, trying to come up with an excuse.

"You're saying you're not sleeping?" Hei Bao inquired.

"D-director—not it's like that-" Team Leader Hong began again, but Hei Bao cut him off.

"If you were planning on sleeping in the first place, you shouldn't have just worked; if you don't want to be disturbed in your sleep, I won't let anyone disturb you again; I will let you sleep without waking up," Hei Bao said, terrifying his employees.

When the team leader heard that phrase, his eyes widened, and he hurriedly bent down on both knees without hesitation, pleading for mercy.

"Di-director! Please,! Please have mercy on me! I- I won't do it again! I won't fall asleep at work again! Please, Director! Plea-please have mercy on me! " Team Leader Hong cried pleadingly.

"Do you think I'll let you keep working at my company? What a ridiculous joke you've got in there," Hei Bao commented.

"Please, Director, have mercy on me!" I— I still have a family to look after! Please! Please, please, please let me go! Please! Please, Mr. Director! " Team Leader Hong begged and cried incessantly.

Hei Bao couldn't take his pleading any longer, and he began to suspect that the employees were becoming agitated as well.

"Stop talking! Get out of here, and don't let me see you again! " Hei Bao yelled, shooing him away.

Team Leader Hong stumbled and ran for his life, crying out in terror. After he left, the corridor fell silent once more. Cheung Qi checked his watch and noticed that it was already past two o'clock. Hei Bao turned around and began walking to the conference room with the bento box in her hand. Employees sighed in relief as soon as he walked into the conference room.

One employee stood up and walked over to the opposite side of the hall to see his friend.

"Did you happen to notice what the director was holding earlier?"

"Yes, it was a bento box wrapped in pink cloth, which I also have!"

"Could it have been given by his girlfriend?"

"Possibly"

Another female employee rose and approached the two gossiping girls.

"What were you two discussing?"

"Did you see what the director was carrying earlier?"

"Oh, it has to be for his girlfriend."

"Maybe"

"Oh, I'm so envious."

"What do you think of our Director?"

"What? He's handsome and wealthy; I couldn't ask for more."

"Hey! Are you insane? Are you looking for death?"

And just like that, the girls were back to gossiping. Until the crowd grew so large that the entire corridor was filled with girls whispering.

To be continued.
