Chapter 7 - Invitation

Kathy's POV

I stayed in my office for 2 hours and I know Eros' gonna be so mad at me for going home late. I have no choice and I don't want to face Jack outside after what he just ask me an hour ago.

"They're gone, Ms. Hutton." Alice came in the office making me jump.

"Oh, Holy crap. I thought it was someone else." I put a hand on my chest, "Are you sure? Cause it's really late and Eros' must be so mad at me right now."

"Yes, I'm sure. They just left." Alice giggled, "What happened anyway? What did you do?"

Long story short, I told her what happened a little bit faster and she just kept on nodding and saying 'uh huh'.

"Are you even listening?!" I exclaimed.

"Yes, slow down a bit because I don't understand anything at all."

"Its just that it was so sudden, Alice. How can he asked me on a date like that? Is he f*cking insane?" I said as and raised my hands, looking like I just gave everything to the Almighty above. "Who does that, Alice?" I exclaimed and slam my hands to my desk. "He just ask me like nothing happened between us!"

"Did you say yes?"

"Of course not!" I immediately said.

"Why not?"

"Well, I don't know. I don't want to." I said and crossed my arms, leaning to my leathered chair.

"You don't want to or you just can't?"

I shook in my seat furiously and stood up, "Oh hush, Alice." I said and started to gather all my things. "I'm going home." I turned around, "What about you?"

"I will, I was just waiting for you to come out of the office." She teased and I rolled my eyes at her. "I just called my boyfriend to pick me up so I'll be okay."

"You sure?"

"Yes, now run along before he comes back and ask you on a date again." Alice said and that made me run out of the building as fast as the cheetah.

I parked my car to the garage and went inside the house. I can already feel how angry Eros is just by the temperature of the wind outside of our hours. Gosh it was giving me shivers. "Eros?" I called out.

Our housekeeper came to greet me and took off my jacket and car keys, "He's in his room he seem very upset today." She said.

Oh, Dear.

A muscle in my heart tightened and I sprint to his room. Without even knocking, I opened his door and he was laying on his bed, his nose stuck in a book.

"Mom?" He looked up and his face full of disappointment. "Where have you been and Why are you late?" He dropped his book and crossed his arms.

I sat on his bed and pat his head, "I'm so sorry, Eros. I had a busy day today, I had 6 meetings and many unfortunate things happened too so I was very busy in the office, I hope you understand that." I said.

"I do, I just hope next time you'll tell me so I don't have to get the popcorns ready." He said, still a little upset.

"I'm sorry, baby." I cupped his cheeks gently rubbing them with my thumbs, "I accepted all the meetings so I can have a day off tomorrow."

Eros' frown face suddenly lights up, "Really?"

"Yes, I want to finish it all today so you and I can have a great time tomorrow. We don't want no work to disturb our time together would you?" I said and move closer to him, "We can watch cartoons all day if you like, we can play games and eat junk foods but just for tomorrow."

"But I don't want to stay in the house all day," Eros frowned, "I want you to meet my best friend, Nathan. You see, yesterday he told me it's gonna be his birthday tomorrow but I said I'm going to ask for your permission first. I tried asking you today but you were busy and that made me a little bit upset. I really want to be there on his birthday party and everyone is going to be there even our Teacher Joan." He pouted and showed me his big blue eyes. How can I say no to this living Angel in front of me? "Please, Mom. Can I go to his birthday party? Look..." He stood up from his bed and grab something from his drawer. "He gave me his birthday invitation."

I accepted the paper he gave me and read it. It has an address written on it. There are going to a kids restaurant and it's a costume party too.

The thought of Eros wearing an animal costume makes me excited, "This is so cute, Eros. Of course, you can go." I giggled, "What would you like to wear?"

He tapped his chin, thinking of what costume he would like to wear, "Is a pig okay?"

"A pig?"

"Yeah, I love pigs." He giggled.

"Anything you like, Honey. We'll grab a pig costume first thing in the morning." I said and boop his nose, "Oh, I hope I don't wake up late tomorrow."

"I'll wake you up!" Eros exclaimed, raising his right hand, making me chuckled. "If your alarm clock won't help you wake up, I will." He jump to his bed and cover himself with his blanket, "I'll sleep early tonight so I can wake up early too and oh—" He stood up and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Goodnight, thank you so much for letting me join Nathan's birthday party. You are the best Mom, I could ever have. I love you and goodnight again." He laid back on his bed, covering himself with his blanket and quickly shut his eye.

I stood up from his bed and gave him a kiss on the forehead, "Goodnight, Darling. You know that you are the best Son a Mom could ask for, I love you." I sense him smiling through the blanket so I gave him another kiss. I turned on his night lamp and said, "Goodnight, my love."
