Chapter 10 // Dabi, Dabi

Lullaby inhaled deeply, letting the cold water scald her pink-tinted skin. She took a long, cold shower to being her body temperature back down. She watched as her skin turned back to it's pale hue. She sighed, stepping out and changing into sweatpants and a overly-large t-shirt, not bothering to dry herself.

She looked into the mirror, making out the dual-colored hair in her face. Her vision was usually horrible when she was tired, and today was no exception. The mission? A success. Her status? She was right alongside Dabi and Kurogiri, which was "totally awesome", as Toga put it.

Then why did she feel so horrible?

An image of the viridian-haired boy flashed in her mind again, eyes shining with hope. she muffled her scream with her knuckles, curling up on the sink countertop. Traitor. Liar. Deku watched her, head cocked with understanding.

"You can be a hero." he said, sitting next to her. "If you change your mind."

"You said we would do it together." she said, voice breaking. "You lied."

"I didn't lie." he said, patting her back gently. "You just need to make the right desi-"

"LIAR!" she screamed, howling as the bathroom mirror shattered with the impact of her fist. She hissed through her teeth, holding her bleeding hand. She turned. The hallucination was gone. She put her head against the broken mirror, exhaling deeply. She didn't just hallucinate that Deku was there. She wasn't going crazy, she-

"Lullaby!" she cursed when Toga knocked on the door, giggling. "What happened?"

"Go away, Toga." Lullaby muttered, wrapping her hand with toilet paper. The blood seeped through quickly.

"I smell blood! Eh, Kage-kun!" Toga pounded on the door.

"Kage. Isn't. HERE RIGHT NOW!" Lullaby screamed. The mirror shards shattered to dust. she covered her head, breathing erratically. She blinked away tears as the old version of Kage sat on the rim of the bath, watching her.

"You're letting Mom's quirk come out." she said quietly, resting her head on her knee. "Calm down."

"Go away." Lullaby murmured. She blinked away the other hallucination, tugging her hair from her face. Toga resumed banging on the door. "Toga, I swear to f-"

"Crazy. Move." she winced as she heard Dabi's voice come to the door. She heard Toga's voice fade with a whine. He clicked the door open, holding what looked like a bent bobby pin in his burnt fingers. He glanced at the broken mirror, her bleeding fingers, and inhaled.

"What's up with you?" he demanded, closing the door. He leaned against it, eyes burning into her own. She shrugged, burying her mouth in her knees.

He rolled his eyes. "Fine. Let's do it my way then."

Lullaby tensed, and screamed as Dabi threw her over his shoulder, walking out of the room. "Dabi! Put me down, you burnt piece of s-"

"Stop fighting." he called, shaking her around. She yelped, pounding his back. "DA-BI!"

He walked up the stairs. The other villains watched, chuckling, as if it was a normal occurance. He finally held her head over the balcony. She screamed, wriggling desperatly to free herself. Kurogiri sighed, cleaning off glasses as he watched.

"Tell me what's happening or you drop." Dabi imitated cracking noises, letting one of her ankles go. She screamed again. "OKAY, OKAY. Just put me DOWN!"

"Tell me first." he said, one finger lifting. She panted, scrabbling to latch onto something.

"Okay, OKAY, I've been having panic attacks with hallucinations, now put me down, JESUS." Lullaby let out a stream of curse words as Dabi finally brought her back on the ground, grinning.

"Are you trying to kill me?" Lullaby finally yelled, kicking his shins. "You sociopathic, no-good, son of a-"

He snorted, leering two feet taller than her. "What are you going to do?"

She aimed another kick at his shin. He snorted again, but an amused smile played on his lips. He ruffled her hair condesendingly, walking back down the stairs. "Go to sleep. You're starting training tomorrow."

"With who?" she said, holding back a yawn. Damn, she was tired.

"Me." he said, grinning. Her heart sank.
