Young Master (2)

"Y-you ungrateful little newbie!" The Young Master stuttered with wide eyes and a red face as he stared at Daniel. "I came here to extend my benevolence to you and you have the audacity to refuse it?!" He growled and clenched his fists. Lackey One and Lackey Two looked distressed as they tried but failed to calm him down.

Daniel frowned when he noticed that the idiot boy's yelling had begun to draw attention. He stood up and raised his hands in surrender.

"Look, I don't want any trouble, alright? I just don't feel like hiding under anyone's wing, okay?" He tried to reason with the boy, but it didn't work.

"Ignorant fool. I am the heir of the Henarion Clan! They call us the Blade Dancers, and we have one of the most fluid and powerful Blade Styles on the continent! If you had come under my wing, then I would have given you a few pointers and let you learn some of the exclusive moves of my Clan. Now, you will never get that chance!" He continued to rant. By this time, quite a few people had gathered to watch, and some of the whispered and chuckled amongst themselves when they saw the large boy harassing Daniel.

"Look, he looks like a new student."

"I thought the Sect was no longer admitting students?"

"That's what we heard. Who knows, he might have gotten in through a backdoor or something."

"Isn't that Leon? I heard he got into Second Class this year."

The male students around openly spoke without hiding the fact that they were talking about Daniel. It annoyed him a lot.

"Alright, look." Daniel's face turned serious and he dropped his hands as he got tired of trying to be polite with the boy, Leon. "I don't want to be under your wing. It sounds stupid as hell, and looks like an unnecessary burden to me. Now, go away." He spat before sitting down again under the incredulous gazes of everyone present.

The face of Leon twisted and contorted as he felt a wave of embarrassment wash through him after hearing the way Daniel threw him aside.

"Fine, then! I challenge you to a duel! If you win, I will become your follower, but if I win, you will become mine!" He exclaimed.

Rolling his eyes, Daniel came to the conclusion that Leon would obviously not leave him alone if he didn't do as he said.

"Fine. Where are we dueling? Are we using real swords?" Daniel stood up and dusted his black trousers.

"We will duel in the training hall, obviously. And we will use wooden swords, I do not want to hurt a newbie who just arrived today." Leon said in a righteous tone that just made Daniel roll his eyes.

'How obnoxious.' He thought to himself.

"Alright, lead the way." Daniel sighed.

Leon turned around and led the way to the training hall he had mentioned earlier. It wasn't too far from the boys' dormitory, but was on the closer end to the building where most classes were held.

The training hall was a large building that was built in a circular structure. It resembled an arena that had its top closed off. The main stage was only a small part of the building, and there were many other portions of it that were partitioned off to be able to hold many one on one duels at a time.

Leon led Daniel to the large, central arena. By the time they got there, a dozen students were already seated at the front row, having gone ahead to get good seats for the spectacle that was about to unfold. Many more students came in the next minutes, and Leon did not finally act until the seats had at least four dozen students. They could testify about his power after he had crushed Daniel.

"Select any weapon you want." Leon told Daniel as he picked up a wooden training sword. Daniel looked through the variety of swords that lined the rack on the side of the arena. He was surprised that they accurately reflected the variety of swords that could be used in real situations.

Daniel browsed through the wooden swords on the rack, trying to find one that fit him well. He was well versed in using multiple sword types, but he wanted to find one that he could use to display some flashy skills.

He finally found a decent weapon that caught his attention. A wooden sword that resembled a katana rested at the end of the rack. He picked up the sword. While he could not claim to be an expert with it, he would still be able to beat Leon with it if the arrogant young master was as bad as he thought.

He picked it up and walked to the center of the arena where Leon was already waiting for him. Leon had picked up a curved sword that was only a finger wide, and was as long as a katana. The sword resembled a rapier, but it's curve proved that it was not a rapier.

"That's a nice sword." Daniel could not help but compliment the sword.

"This is the Viper's Tongue. It was made to be a training replica of my sword." Leon raised the sword before him.

"Oh? A custom made training sword? Was it made because you are a special figure, or did you pay for it?" Daniel quirked his brow.

"Indeed, as one of the more prominent figures of this generation of the Henarion Clan, I had this training sword custom made for myself. It is a perfect fit for my move set and sword style. Perhaps if you had chosen to serve under me, you would have gotten a custom made blade." Leon mocked. "Now, take up a position, and I will show you the mistake you have made."
