Chapter 4

"Hey, wake up."

Lich groggily got up, still upset how some blades of grass almost killed them. As they were going to ask if Seppo could help with the grass they realized a big discrepancy and a small one.

The small one being the surrounding. Lich was no longer outside as there was a bed underneath them and looking out the window the grass that was almost the one to take Lich's life was gone.

The big discrepancy being the voice that was heard was not Seppo's. It was a low-pitched voice.

As Lich was trying to understand what was going on, they saw a body drop from the ceiling and land feet first by the bed. "From your memories I gleamed from last night, you have to be at work in 2 hours. Here is the stuff Uncle Seppo got for you."

What stood in front of Lich was a person who had the second most beautiful face they have seen since coming here. But Lich was unable to enjoy it as that low pitched voice came from them making Lich think they were still asleep. Seeing the vacant stare from Lich as they were trying to lay back down to sleep the other party introduce themselves.

"Hello my name is Travis, even though my face is attractive I am a guy. I am the spirit that was sealed in a coin that Uncle Seppo gave you. After bonding with you I became a root Law of your trap Path. Path's would take to long to explain and the powers you will receive from me are sealed while still in the Recruitment Realm."

Lich was finally awake, but what was gleamed from Travis's introduction was full of information that was pushed to the back of their mind. But seeing the bag that was in Travis's hand made Lich wonder what Seppo got for them.

"Here." After getting passed the bag Lich saw it include a manual for ammo manufacturing. Also included was a phone with a ten-legged spider with a skull covering its body as a phone grip. "The rest of the bag included some daily necessities so I went ahead and put everything where it all was supposed to go. Also you do not have to worry about cleaning up the place as I did that while you slept. Now get ready for work."

Lich got up and went to the shower to start off the day. While in the shower Lich was wondering why their muscles felt like they had done a full body workout for hours it took almost a full minute just to get the shampoo to their hair. Luckily they had ample time since they were woken up early.

After getting out of the shower and grabbing a breakfast bar Lich pulled out their new phone to boot up and search how far it is to work. 'Hopefully it isn't on the other side of the city. Seeing I had to walk hours to get to part of the store area I might be late for work.' Lich thought to themselves.

When the phone was finally turned on, a welcome message was displayed on the screen.

Welcome. We are happy that you have chosen the 10,000 Celestial-Slaying Villain Sect. After passing the Recruitment Phase meet us after orientation at this address....

"This is obviously a fake address I have never seen so many numbers. I guess I get the real one once I pass this Recruitment Phase? " Lich after looking at the first ten digits got bored and started scrolling down after what felt like 10 minutes of passing through information that might of been impertinent to read Lich finally got to the bottom and hit accept.

"Skipping the address was fine but most of that scrolling you did was the sect rules and other helpful advice to pass the Recruitment Phase. Was it such a smart move to just hit accept so easily? I mean the world Villain was in the title and Celestial-Slaying? They might be crazy cultists that kill Gods or more than likely, religious people. Please explain."

Lich searching up the distance to work realized it was only a 15 minute walk from here so they decided to share about the sticky note dilemma they had forced on them.

"At age 15 my family started to sell off me and my siblings. I was determined to have an affinity with necromancy and was sold off to a facility. They started to test out a experimental magic system that was gleamed from some fantasy books on me and a few select others. It worked, but honestly the powers were super restricted. I am sure now that they were semi-Laws because the cleaning Law on my clothes seem way more powerful than any of the powers I saw taught there. But then one day, a elderly bearded man that supervised during my learning session for that day asked why I looked so gloomy. I told him that even though what I was taught was all I ever dreamed of having it was to weak and the books that I was allowed to read never mention any of the ideas I had of the power."

Lich stopped talking since Travis had his hand raised up. Motioning him to speak Travis inquired, "You haven't said where your siblings went. Perhaps you do not know? " Lich looked at Travis for a minute then said as if it was obvious, "My little brother was sold off to a demon lord. While my older brother was taken by a scientist who needed a lab rat for tests." Travis had a face as if he had an epiphany "Ah, continue."

"When I explained what I wanted from it ,the old man laughed and muttered something I didn't hear. Then he pulled out a pack of sticky notes and said if I follow the sticky notes it will lead me to the power I seek and more. But if I didn't make progress in a year a disaster would strike and force me on the right path. After I grabbed the sticky notes, the pack exploded in my hands and the old man was gone but on the door a sticky note was placed. But like all of the sticky notes I have found it was blank. After walking out the door I learned the old man did not work there as there was corpses that lined covered the floor completely. All of them being workers and guards."

This time Travis did not raise his hand but spoke directly. "That sounds like a reason to read the fine print of everything. Some old guy kills everyone there and you just accept a deal with him?!? That sounds exactly what someone who practices Devil Laws does to ensure a deal gets made. The more deals they make the more power they receive."

"Well the people there weren't saints. The zombies I made were all from people they kidnapped from the closest cities."

"Huh, didn't know my new master was such a baddie. Turning innocent people against their wills would increase your bad karma. Why did you never ask to leave? All the things you have to do to equal that in good karma would take forever."

"Because the people that asked to leave were tortured and used for my tormented spirit training. They also told me I signed a contract or something before I was born and I was obligated to be there. Anyways back to what I was saying. So for 9 years I went city to city following sticky notes and now I am here."

"So how many disasters happened or did it take you 9 years just to walk here?" Lich's face got red with embarrassment when Travis asked that question.

"9 disasters happened, which caused at least 9 cities to get wiped out of existence. Since I wanted to defend myself, I made a zombie army since I knew there was magic and the best way to survive was to use what I was taught. Doing that saved me in a way, as it controlled what type of event would happen. Each year all the zombies I made rampaged out of my control, turning all living things in the city to zombies which then they came after me leading me to a new city and then rinse and repeat. But after the 9th time of it happening the surrounding cities evacuated. Then a miracle happened, a sticky note appeared on a person. So even though I don't like people I followed him and here I am now. So as long as I play the yes man to everything maybe this city will be safe."

Travis sat there digesting all that was said then made a shit eating grin. " I guess it is good that this sect was the one you got in. With a name like 10,000 Celestial-Slaying Villain Sect they might even worship you for what you did haha."

Looking at the time Lich got ready to leave for work. As they were heading to the door Travis blinked out of existence and spoke in Lich's mind. "I am going to take a nap. Don't know when I will wake up, but I hope I wont miss the zombie horde, talk to you then."
