A young woman from within the crowd asks Roger another question.
"Excuse me, but who are the Kannon? What do they actually want?" The few adults that stood within the crowd knew the answer but didn't know how to tell it with children present. The adults tensely looked around at each other, waiting for Roger to speak on their behalf.
"The Kannon is a revolutionary organization. They plan to destroy and take over the world." Seeing that the children didn't understand, he decided to explain it differently.
"They're the reason why you only get to see the sun once a day. And they're the reason why we have to hide."
One of the men, who had just taken the village chief to his room, returned to the main room and said, "All of you should go back home now. Everything is fine." Upon hearing that, the crowd slowly scattered and the villagers were on their way to their rooms.
As Roger walks away, he takes a turn away from the direction of his room and towards the direction Warren went off to. After a couple more turns down narrow hallways, he found himself at Warren's door. Without knocking first, he barges in to find Warren sitting on his sofa and inspecting the blue orb. He quickly makes his way to the sofa and punches Warren with a left hook as he was getting up to apologize.
"You're an idiot. You probably just blew our cover. Do you know what'll happen if they find out who we are?" Roger scolded Warren for his reckless decision-making.
He pulls the level four artifact out of his jacket and holds it up to Warren. "This is all we have to defend ourselves if and when anything happens."
Warren looks up at Roger, only to be greeted with a furious and disappointed facial expression. "I guess I'll just let them find you guys next time. I guess there was no point in driving them away from the underground bunker." Warren angrily says as he walks to his bedroom. He grunts in frustration as he roughly lays on his bed.
"Kid, I understand your intentions were good but your plan wasn't thought out." Roger puts the artifact back in his jacket then follows Warren to his room and continues the conversation.
"It's not our job to intimidate the Kannon, it's our job to investigate them."
"And we've been investigating them for three months now and found nothing." Warren angrily says as he sits upon his bed. With his head down, he talks to Roger in a soft and serious voice.
"Roger, we move every month and find nothing. We still don't even know why they're killing people."
"Taking. Not killing." Roger corrects Warren.
"But the number of the population still decreases. They're not just taking them; they're killing them. They've been doing it for over twenty years and we still have nothing."
Not hearing a response from Roger, he brings his head up to look at Roger. Not knowing what to say, Roger sits right next to Warren and pats his back.
"When I first met you at the organization, I questioned why they paired me up with a kid like you. I mean, you looked like a damn misfit. You're scrawny and have that black sweatshirt that you always wear and you always had your hands in your pockets."
Both of them softly laugh at Roger's remarks.
"But within these past three months, I see why they chose you. Because you have a good heart, and always act with good intentions." Warren gives a joyful smirk, and thanks Roger for the compliment.
Trying to face his own mistake, Warren ruefully smiles and says, "So, what do we do now?" Sighing from the absence of a solution, he tells Warren that he is unsure of their next move.
