Prologue

A life too great and far more exciting than anyone.

I have a strange memory called the eidetic memory, and I am one of the first persons to have confirmed having this ability in the entire world.

I became the youngest graduate in the world when I got my first engineering degree on my 10th birthday.

I had congenital myopia and wore glasses at a young age.

I had a younger twin brother, who was born 1 minute and 46 seconds later than me, as stated by my father, and unlike me, he had strong eyes.

He was brawny unlike me and got into the military at a young age as he was interested in fighting…. For the country.

He was a doting brother and always helped me stand stronger.

In looks, we both were above average and were popular.

Even though I was not into sports, he made me become a sports person by dragging me to the ground when we were young.

I was good at running and was a natural sprinter.

Well, I completed another 15 degrees and became a teacher at Harvard, and came to be called the youngest teacher to teach in an Ivy League college.

I was a busy young man, always creating ideas to make the world a better place.

It was a normal day unlike any other. I just completed my research on my lab and was heading home. I was 24 years old.

My father was a very peaceful man, and he was a farmer and a very successful one at that.

My mother was a nurse and became a homemaker after we were born.

We both were our parent's joy and pride, and they always took proper care of us and taught us all the values to lead a life helping others peacefully.

My brother had come home after a long time. I parked my bike in the garage and entered the house.

The light suddenly flickered out as I went inside my house, and I couldn't hear any noises.

I got suspicious and took a baseball bat in the garage. I slowly opened the back door with my biometrics and made my way in and slowly turned on the light, but no one was there.

Likewise, I crept into the hall.

I had a very dumb thought on my mind; I knew it was not right to do this in this type of situation, but I still did it. With a croaking voice, I shouted.

[Mom, Dad, are you there ?]

A hand quickly snatched onto the bat and took it from me. I spun to see, and it was my brother.

[Is this the way to treat your younger brother! Who has come a long way home?]

It was him who had acted suspicious, anyway, this is how he has been the day he knew how to walk.

[How are you, James? Still having the strange habit of scaring the shit out of people!]

He came closer and gave me a hug, and I could smell his stinky perfume on my nose. Yuck!.

I don't know why he uses these kinds of scents? But it is one of the major reasons for not getting any girlfriends.

[I missed you too! Brother. Mom and dad went out to meet up with a relative who got admitted to the hospital recently. They asked us to eat out. Are you coming? I am tired of waiting for you]

[Yeah! Sure, wait, I'll go change my dress and come.]

I went in and changed to my casuals, checked my bank account just to make sure I had some extra cash.

Argh! I hated wearing helmets, yet I had to wear them.

And I took out my bike and waited for my brother to hop on.

I was about to start my bike, suddenly I heard a scream. Both of us got off the bike and looked for the source of the sound.

It was the apartment on my street. We quickly rushed to see what had happened?.

The building had caught on fire, and it was spreading rapidly.

Normally, I was the type of guy to poke my nose in other people's business, but for these types of situations, I was naïve.

My brother quickly jumped in to save the civilians stuck inside the building. I didn't know what to do, so I waited out frantically.

[Help! Somebody, please help my child, she got stuck on the second floor.]

No one was around her except me, and I felt it was my duty to save that child. Stupid! Feelings.

I quickly called on to the fire station and explained the situation.

I went inside the burning building and tried to use the stairs. The flames were closing in, yet I still made it to the second floor.

*Creak creak boom,* the wooden stairs were breaking and falling down.

What should I do now? I looked around and saw lots of doors.

I didn't know which house the child was in? Which I didn't ask the mother when I came in to save her.

Classic rookie mistake, I calmed down and started thinking.

Why was the fire alarm not working? I looked up and could see that the light was not on in the smoke sensor. Someone had cut off the supply to it.

There were many people stuck in their houses, unable to come out. I had to fix the problem.

I tried opening every door and most of them got locked. Stupid biometric security system. They were fantastic in terms of security, but now they were going to cause these people's deaths.

The only way was to make it up to the last floor, where they would probably have the maintenance room and supply closet.

The stairs got broken and the only way to go up was through the ledges of the building. Well! I had no choice and chose the way to go up.

I climbed up as fast as I could and reached the last floor, but the fire had spread worse there, probably due to it being ground zero.

Likewise, I ran to the maintenance room; the flames were brushing me.

I opened the maintenance room, found out the problem, and solved it within a matter of minutes.

But it was too late, the water from the sprinkler could not stop the spread of fire on the third floor.

I quickly sent a text message to my brother and my parents.

[If I had died, I have stored some useful ideas, and research on my laptop, don't let them go to waste.

I wish we could have spent more time.(P.S. James, please get rid of that stinky perfume)

With love Jacob]

I threw my phone into the fire and quickly removed my shirt and pant; I knew I would die sooner if I wore them.

I stood on my undies at the corner of the room. The fire was slowly reaching me.

I heard siren sounds, probably from the fire engine. I got calm.

Not only that, but I felt the heat creep up on me. I felt my bodily fluids frantically trying to get out of my body.

I even tried peeing on the fire, but it didn't do any help, and I felt the heat slowly devouring me.

*psh psh *

I started screaming because of the pain.

I suddenly heard some strange words inside my head.

<>

With all my mental strength which was left, I replied

[Yes, I do]

I slowly felt my consciousness fading, and the fire slowly devoured me and fried me to a gory death.
