Red Haven Sect

'Red Haven...Sect? My old room?' Xun Lu trembled as tears ran down his eyes for the first time in hundreds of years. He frantically observed everything in the room, praying that it wasn't some extremely powerful illusion.

He tossed everything around and flipped everything upside down. After trying to find an array flag or anything of the such, Xun Lu was met with no results. Though this was a good thing in this situation.

'Maybe it's real...Have I truly regressed hundreds of years into the past? That means...my friends are still alive!' Xun Lu was overwhelmed with joy. He sat down on his stiff, uncomfortable, and messy bed.

His eyes revealed an emotion of pure reminiscence and satisfaction. He looked like an accomplished man who wanted nothing more.

But suddenly his eyes revealed a deep hatred within them. A hatred so vile that if it was tangible, it'd probably go around killing others.

Xun Yu could suddenly hear footsteps approaching his room, so he tried to clean up. Unfortunately, he wasn't accustomed to his old body just yet. It took numerous tries just to run properly, unlike before when he was running around and tearing things up.

The door opened and a figure walked in.

"Xun Lu, what the hell happened to your room?" An ever-so-familiar voice filled the entire room, stopping Xun Lu in his tracks. He slowly turned to look at who he thought he knew.

It was Chin Chai.

Her long scarlet-blood red hair danced around her body whilst accompanying her fair white skin that had not a single blemish. Her black eyes seemed to soften the vibrant colors of her skin and hair a bit.

She was wearing a red daoist robe that seemed to have enchanted Xun Lu. The stripes were white, similar to a red velvet cake with white frosting. Some of Chin Chai's hair was tied in two buns at the top of her head.

Xun Lu stared in awe at Chin Chai. He recalled the words of the men from his previous life and was in even more shock.

Tears once again welled from his eyes and he unconsciously approached Chin Chai, embracing her in a hug filled with hundreds of years worth of complicated emotions. She was a little confused as to why Xun Lu was acting such a way.

"Xun Lu, don't try to divert my attention with a measly hug! Get off me!" Chin Chai exclaimed before pushing Xun Lu away. She figured out his scheme and wasn't going to fall for it.

Xun Lu didn't resist her backing away and only looked at her with a wise smile. He wiped the tears from his face and immediately began cleaning up.

"ChaiCha- I mean Chin Chai, can you help me clean up? I don't want one of our seniors to witness this mess I call my room." Xun Lu asked. He had turned away from Chin Chai and began cleaning up.

She stared at Xun Lu with a strange look before helping him clean up.

"You know, I always knew you were messy and liked to fool around, but you've really taken it too far! You're too old to be doing these things..." Chin Chai reprimanded Xun Lu.

As far as she knew, Xun Lu was only 15 years old, not over 1000 years old. If she knew that, she'd start to view him as an ancient grandpa!

"Yeah yeah, I know." Xun Lu calmly replied. It didn't take the duo long to clean up the room. They managed to finish just in time when one of their senior brothers entered the room.

"What are you two doing? Hurry up and follow me, we have combat exams today! Whoever doesn't attend it or fails will be expelled from the sect." Their senior brother explained.

Xun Lu and Chin Chai nodded while following him out to one of the courtyards. There, Xun Lu reunited with three more of his friends.

Jiang Li.

Lin Meng.

And Tai Chu.

He tried his best to hold back his emotions.

There were over 1000 disciples in the courtyard, preparing for the combat exam. Some were chatting, some were friendly sparring, and others were just nervously pacing.

'Just as I remember it... Red Haven was never a prestigious sect, but it was my gateway into true cultivation. It may only have 5000 disciples, but the sect's foundations are stable and somewhat profound...'

Xun Lu admired Red Haven Sect because of what the people in it did for him in his previous life. He put in months upon months of hard work until he finally became a core disciple after 10 years.

To others, he may have low talent, but Xun Lu never considered it some form of the shackle. He knew that despite having low talent, he'd come across a certain technique that would help him out greatly.

The Moonlight Technique.

It was something Xun Lu came across 5 years in the future. He practiced the technique wholeheartedly without slacking even once.

All that hard work eventually paid off, when he finally reached the Sage realm and was known for his strange power.

The power to harvest moonlight from the moon, convert it into qi, and strengthen himself like any other cultivator.

The strangest but most amazing part of it all was that Xun Lu's powers took a moonlight quality later on. His Qi would eventually become Moonlight Qi and then Moonlight Emperor Qi.

But that was way into the future where he completely revised the Moonlight Technique into something much more grandeur and profound.

Suddenly, an inner disciple cast a spell and began speaking.

"Silence! Today will be the combat exams that all disciples have to take every few years! If you fail this exam, then you'll be expelled from the sect!" The inner disciple explained.

Many outer disciples felt uneasy and were on edge. To some, this was their only opportunity to change their fate. To others, it was just a regular check-up like going to a doctor.

"There's three parts to the combat exam! Number one, cultivation base measuring! Number two, combat ability test! Number three, sparring! That worst 300 disciples in the ranks will be expelled!"

'Just like I remembered. I ended up ranking at 301, what luck! But this time will be a breeze.'

Just as Xun Lu was recalling certain memories, four golden lines appeared in his view.

[Pass the combat exam.]

[Reward Choice 1: Qi Nurturing Pill]

[Reward Choice 2: Rank 1 Cosmic Eye Opening]

[Failure: None]

Xun Lu was confused about the words suddenly appearing in his view. He didn't know how they got there, where they came from, or what they were doing there.

After reading the information, he had an idea of what exactly was going on.

'I remember a planet I've been too...It was called Yurth. And they had a great amount of scriptures involving various plots with one common similarity... Sistums?'

Xun Lu was sort of shocked after figuring out he had regressed alongside a system. Before he had time to process any more information, the inner disciple spoke again.

"The combat exam will start now! Each of you will be given a plaque with your designated number on it. When your number is called, you will approach the first test area and begin! Disciples will be called in batches of tens, now you may start!"

Xun Lu was already prepared, unlike his friends.

'Look at these guys. They seem so nervous about a small test such as this, but in the future they made glorious names for themselves. Tai Chu was known as Venerable Demon Death.'

Xun Lu glanced at Tai Chu. His short white hair shrouded parts of his golden-yellow eyes, slightly impairing his view. His brown skin and chiseled muscles were a perfect contrast to his near snow-white hair.

Despite being a tad bit more muscular than others, he still looked as nervous as the rest.

Xun Lu then glanced at Lin Meng. She had quite the ordinary appearance, black hair and cloudy brown eyes, and fair white skin.

But don't be fooled.

Xun Lu knew what really lies beneath that ordinary appearance. Even he wasn't too sure about beating Lin Meng in a spar back in his prime. She was known as the Duality Sword Saint.

Back in her prime, she was known because of her strange attacks. If she slashed her sword once, then her opponent would be hit two times, but in completely opposite directions and trajectories.

Never once had she lost a battle after reaching the Emperor realm.

Xin Lu had faint chills run down his spine when he thought of Lin Meng's terrifying attacks. Since he wasn't on joyful terms with her in the past, he was always wary when he was around her.

'Now... Jiang Li...' Xun Lu would rather not think of what Jiang Li's future held for her. 20 years into the future, Red Haven Sect and a 1000 kilometer radius around it had been attacked by someone beyond the mortal realm.

Jiang Li ended up sacrificing her life to save Tai Chu's, which in return, resulted in Jiang Li's death and a breakup of everyone's friendship.

Her death had sewn thick lines between everybody that stopped them all from getting too close.

'Hm... I won't let that happen this time. And despite everyone else achieving such high statuses, we've all went down the wrong path. Lin Meng was never meant to be the Duality Sword Saint no matter what she was like in the past...'
